The interesting thing is that his trainer is mainly a boxer and he has recently said that he is amazed at how much Ilia has improved since the fight with Emmet. So as sharp as we looked vs Emmet he may come even better vs Alex😮

Two Climent are brothers (Agustín and Jorge) mainly focused on BJJ, and Javi Climent is his boxing coach, but he is not related with Agustín and Jorge. And Topuria started as wrestler in Georgia, then BJJ with Climent brothers. Boxing is his last discipline 😅😅

The american didn’t capitalise on it though, and only landed a few (which is understandable taking into account he was getting his face busted). I think Volkanovski and his team have definitely noticed and will try to take advantage of it, but we also saw holes in Topuria’s boxing and cardio in the Bryce fight and he solved them all for Emmet. He might show up with an efficient leg kick checking game. I think he really has a good chance of knocking Volk out (or at least hurting him bad enough to find a finish) with his hands. Alex has been dropped in most of his recent fights (Islam knocked him down in both fights, Max did, Yair did and even Ortega), and Topuria hits harder than any of them. His boxing defence also seemed very polished against Emmet. It’s going to be a banger.

He's 27 years old I'm not lying he's probably the most talented all around fighter I've seen in MMA I've been watching combat sports since UFC 2 in the mid-90s mind you he's already the champion 1 by knocking out the pound-for-pound in the game volk ... 7:55. WOW. That vicious knockout is why Ilia Topuria and Saint Dennis are the two most violent fighters in the UFC right now. Of course nobody is more vicious than Tom Aspinall, but he isn't allowed to fight, because he wins every fight in a few seconds.

Topuria is very well rounded and powerful in the striking, a physical beast, but he is there to be hit though, something that a smart champion like Volk can definitely take advantage of.
He also throws very ordinary orthodox 3 piece combos at every opportunity. throwing in threes like he always does is a dangerous thing to do against a guy with footwork and counterstriking like Volk has. Ilia looks amazing beating on guys who are stuck in the mud - I just don't see him being a huge problem for the undefeated at featherweight champ. I have to lean on the champion experience and consistant top level opponents for this one. Ilia is in over his head with Volk.

Amazing fighter, its just crazy how he keeps getting caught with high kicks, but good thing Volkanovski doesn't really throw them. Yair would probably be a problem. Can't wait to see how he matches with Volk.
A single high kick has landed on him like that, it has been the only bad moment he has had in his 14 fights so far.
