    • @TheRasiani Many people (incl. me) have the attitude: if I do it, why not doing it right or even perfect? I personally do not start any task or important job when I am not sure that I am in the mood or have the time to do it properly. Having to look at a crooked job, or having to re-do something because it looks 'meh' is a nightmare for me. It fills me with so much peace watching Martijn doing everything he does with patience and I guess passion as well. Unfortunately, the majority of people have the attitude "oh well, that's good enough for now!", as observed uncounted times, and also heard from skilled people, just to save time. But then, improving the 'good enough for now-work' never happens...

Would it not be possible to get certified as an able craftsman due to the level of craftsmanship you routinely exhibit? • @duncanfrere2656 In Europe in general, these are REAL professions, where you either HAVE to make an apprenticeship and will be certified in a day-long exam at the end of the few years, or get a university degree. I know, because I have more than one certification. Not like in North America for example. I immigrated to Canada, where everybody is 'skilled' and has a business, advertising 'many skills', can do EVERYTHING, but nobody really checks if they CAN do their job properly, they just get a business license and TADAA!. If there are too many complaints, they close the business and vanish. Europe is (fortunately) 'still' different, and people have in general no problem with rules, which protect usually consumers and their safety.

  • Martyn, Your weekly uploads from the Italian mountains offers me a moment to contemplate my life and the aspirations I hold for my family. However, I must admit that there are times when I find myself restless, unable to sit still, as I watch the leisurely pace at which you work. It has taken me months to understand why I feel this way-that my frustration stems from my tendency towards seeking immediate gratification, a craving for that dopamine rush that comes from swiftly finishing tasks and moving on to the next. I know I'm not alone in this, having been raised with the shared belief that we must work tirelessly and mindlessly from the moment we open our eyes, for fear of being labelled 'lazy' or holding a lesser place in society. Interestingly, what frustrates me is also what draws me to your content: your ability to have broken free from the relentless "go, go, go" mentality that so many of us find ourselves caught up in. Your approach serves as a refreshing reminder to appreciate progress without fixating solely on speed or magnitude of accomplishments-a valuable lesson that I've been increasingly embracing since discovering your channel. I think I speak for all of your viewers when I say "Superbedankt" for sharing your journey with us and reminding us what it means to be human. ✌

  • There is nothing better than watching these videos on a Sunday morning. My work week is Wednesday thru Sunday, so by Sunday morning, I need this relaxation video. The stress from the upcoming 2024 Presidential election, and regular work struggles (dealing with the public) makes me completely anti-social on my time off. I am envious of your time alone, being one with nature and working on your home. The one cabin is looking so great. I look forward to watching the 2nd one transform.

  • ❤..Martijn you are my Sunday Morning guilty pleasure ..where I steal away with my coffee and toast and just let your video take me away to a place of simplicity and learning. Your looking at the mountains and feeling the breeze on your face and watching a 🐝 bee, it’s a beautiful life .. Thank you .😊💕🇺🇸

  • Martijn, from my own experience with my grandmother's flowerboxes, the all-wooden design needs to have holes drilled in the bottom. It helps prevent the wood _and_ flowers from rotting. Also a thin layer (1" or so) of soil-sand [mix] at the base can also help with drainage. Drill/cut half a dozen medium sized holes and place some broken pottery or stones to partially cover them to prevent the soil washing out.

  • You put an enormous amount of extra work into this video, and it is appreciated and just lovely, besides all the projects, The view from the picnic table is astounding, I love that you recycle wood, I do that too, The tree gives us SO Much it is Such a Wonderful symbiotic blessing from our Earth, so many take it for granted, but not you, you have a very good relationship with wood, from your drinking your vitamin C, your Birch to baking your bread, with wood, to taking a walk in the woods, your air you breath, to every beautiful thing you make, and I have to include, I Love the craftsmanship of those Japanese Saws, they work so precise.

The flower box and the firepit well done. It's also nice to see that you have more time to make nice meals for yourself. As for the permit board, they should watch your video and realize that you are well able to build a shed by yourself without the diploma. Have a great week and hoping you don't get anymore snow.

  • Martijn, you're such a blessing to me, Thank you - every video just gets better and better . I've watched your adventures and hard work from the beginning : from #1 till now # 109 - the care you take in each and every shot - the drone work for the big picture scenery, the music and sound effects, the intricate photography of a small insects or a bumble bee ( or the chickens who follow you adoringly when you let them out ! ) .... when I was younger I played the game Skyrim - I loved the trees, the mountains and the grasslands , the rivers and streams in that game - at the end of this video as you walked through the mountain countryside - the trees, the water, the grasslands, I actually thought I was there again! - Keep up your amazing work and know that your many fans are inspired by you and appreciate you filming everything that you share with us.

  • In France there's a gardner's rite around the 11,12 & 13 th of May, Les Saints Glaces, meaning up to that date it can still freeze anywhere so you don't plant fragile stuff like flowers until AFTER that date. Saves a lot of money and work. Flower Power.❤ Tx for showing beloved beechtreeleaves, growing Aïl des Ours, bear's garlic which season is already over in the Plains and renewed larchc lumps.
