Moana 2 or zootopia 2 will be next.
For me, it’s Kung Fu Panda 4! Character flanderizations, plot holes, and unneeded jokes are what made me walk out midway through.

The Emoji Movie
@@_Cinenerd_ no you weren't kid
The only redeeming quality about "Dumb and Dumberer" is Bob Saget screaming about feces in the bathroom, which provided one of the only laughs.
Really? This is one of those movies where I'm the odd man out. I think dumb and Dumberer was my favorite; even a little more than the original. Sometimes I'm just don't understand the mainstream. I also loved movie 43, me and the wife couldn't stop laughing during that movie. But I can't stand the scary movies, they are some of the worst movies with the worst humor to me even though they are super popular.
@@errormachine5056That means you're weird. But I do understand, as there are times that I don't join the mainstream. The first 3 scary movies are good, though.
@@errormachine5056you pick move 43 over scary movie?? Yup your opinion is dogshiet which also means you’re a slug with questionable humor. 🤣🐌
RIP to Bob Saget
Bob Saget was whacked, he knew too much RIP
So, basically every Disney live action remake
Damn I was going to say that 😅
Yep, so true
Inb4 even the animated "classics" were cashgrabs, too. 🤓
100%
Not all of them
The Emoji Movie - This movie was the literal definition of a Cash Grab. Like it was made specifically to make you go out & buy that Ultra Expensive IPhone.
The only tiny little thing i did like it from that awful movie was the animation. Nothing more and nothing less.
It's not the literal definition. I looked up the definition and it did not mention The Emoji Movie.
That Popeye movie was canceled for The Emoji Movie.
@@slashbash1347 You know it's just a joke right? I mean what he's trying to say is that it's the closest thing to a cash grab there is
As terrible at the emoji movie was, it doesn’t qualify for this list because the intro stated that they’re talking about sequels.
The first 'Fantastic Beast' movie was good but the others were definite cash grabs. They had no direct correlation to Newt or his work but they did tie into Harry Potter with Dumbledore. They should have just made separate Dumbledore prequels and left the Fantastic Beast to Newt's adventures. .
bruh, it's ok. You can come out and say it, the first one sucked as well. The plot didn't make any sense, and messed up power dynamics supremely. Worst thing is that Rowling wrote the scripts for all of them... she did a bad job.
It’s surprising for me not to see Batman and Robin on this list. They recast Val Kilmer, they amped up the silliness to over 1000 and they rushed the movie out in just over 2 years so that they could strike while the iron was hot. Thanks WB for fucking over every Batfan by giving us this enormous piece of shit.
😂😂
Thank God Christopher Nolan saved the Franchise from that Monstrosity
Pretty sure Jason X wasn't a cash grab as such, it was a way for them to hold onto the rights.
It was made to get a Jason flick out while they figured out Freddy vs Jason.
@@DericMyersYT but did so they also held onto the rights though I’m sure. I’m pretty sure Paramount didn’t want to spend money on a sequel so sold the rights to the Jason character only to New Line (hence why neither New Line produced movies with Jason which are Jason X and Freddy vs Jason contain Friday the 13th in the name) and they needed to keep the rights to the franchise itself so essentially leased out Jason to New Line in order to have them foot the bill and keep the franchise while also making money in the interim between Jason X and FvJ. I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s how it went. As far as I know Cunningham and Isaac have the rights again now.
@@teeboz6237 Paramount maintained the Friday name but that’s it. They had no interest in the franchise post Part VIII. Cunningham owned the franchise after 1989. Miller is the only one who challenged Cunningham over the rights of the IP and that was in 2017.
The Home Alone Disney plus remake, had me cheering for the criminals to catch the kid. That's how bad it was because the kid was a spoiled rotten brat
It is after Home Alone 3 is where it went wrong.
Yes I liked HA3 for what it was, probably because I was still fairly young when it came out. Then when the direct-to-TV ones came later I had no interest.
Yeah, totally agree with that because Home Alone 3 was last good Home Alone movies.
@@potatomemethat’s what I always thought it will never match up to 1 & 2 but it’s decent in its own right
@@Shadow_Wolf_190 Yeah agree with that. And Home Alone 3 trap is absolutely deadly.
We don’t need need remakes or always sequels. Or prequels. We need original thoughts
Yeah, Good luck with that.
@@jeuryrabassa4724 I wish
Rush Hour 3 putting aside Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker's great acting. The movie just felt like a cheap cash grab for a Rush Hour Trilogy & didn't feel as complete as the first two movies.
I agree. It’s not bad, but the humor just wasn’t as energetic as the first two. Kinda like Beverly Hills Cop 3
Not really. It's a good movie, and a solid trilogy.
Second one was worse
tbh rush hour 3 wasnt even bad
Don't insult one of the funniest films in the series.

Here’s what you should’ve put on the list… 1. Speed 2: Cruise Control 2. Jaws: The Revenge 3. Son of the Mask 4. Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective 5. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd 6. Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows 7. Batman & Robin 8. Fantastic Four [also known as FANT4STIC] (2015) 9. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace 10. Hellboy (2019) 11. Jason X 12. Terminator Genisys 13. Peter Pan & Wendy 14. Home Alone Sequels 15. Paranormal Activity Sequels 16. Pinocchio (2022) 17. Space Jam: A New Legacy 18. Independence Day: Resurgence 19. Blues Brothers 2000 20. The Little Mermaid [also known as The Little Wokemaid] (2023)
I hope you're referring to the Home Alone sequels after Home Alone 2 because that sequel was good. All the others were highly unnecessary
@@robynwolph3836 I Am
I am a liberal and I didn't like The Little Mermaid (2023).
How about the Cars sequel? We all know the only reason we had 3 Cars movies is so Disney can sell more toys. Speaking of toys Toy Story 4 was completely unnecessary too.

True words right there.
Very true describes Hollywood and the entertainment industry in the past decade or so
Carrey is so important that everytime somebody is doing a sequel to his movie without him they suck
Blues Brothers 2000 is SO bad it hurts.
The soundtrack rocks though!
I'm going to come out and say it, EVERY LIVE-ACTION REMAKE FROM DISNEY SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST! The quality of them has been going down hill since Beauty & the Beast. They all just feel like cash grabs and not very well made ones at that.
I wonder what Jim Carrey thinks- all these sequels that *FLOPPED* because he wasn't included...
Lew-Who, Za-Her
Exactly that; that they flopped because he wasn’t in them 😂
@@LuciferMorningstar-zu1udthat’s what makes Jim the best comedian of all time, or part of the reason… whenever they try to make more of his movies without him they fail miserably
every 90s lifetime movie "based on a real series" was pure cash grab lol. Hey Patrick! loved you in the walking dead, man!
The new megamind movie is definitely a cash grab, for fans who waited 14 years longer than freaking avatar
A Harry Potter film without Harry Potter didn't make Harry Potter money! I would never have seen that coming 😂
I think Dial Of Destiny is a bigger cash grab then Crystal Skulls but fail miserably
i actually thought it was good
@@wwb16Exactly. It has its flaws, but overall, still a good movie.
The last two Indiana Jones films and the Star Wars sequel trilogy are even bigger cash grabs
@@maxmazzotti6651 Nah. The last 2 Indiana Jones movies are good.
@@maxmazzotti6651 doesn't stop me from liking them
That actor that played young Loyd was taking it really seriously lol
The Crow sequels after the first movie, Son of the Mask, Dumb and Dumberer, the Titanic animated movies, and Grease 2
the titanic animated movies had nothing the do with the film and had no connection to it
They tried to romanticize the event for younger audiences similar to how Disney romanticized Pocahontas’ story.
@@kamsismithyeah how sad lucky I’ve started to look and research the true 100% pure versions of them both instead of kid friendly versions of them plus I do not get the hype of the titanic movies they are all the same garbage and it’s just boring same with the MCU
People disliking the Angry Birds films makes me as angry as the titular birds.
The reason why the crystal skull failed is because it was one of those instances where they tried to bring a new generation of fans in by adding a young unnecessary sidekick (and they added _two_ of them in Blade Trinity).
"Without Smith's leading man charm all you're left with is another generic action film that just so happens to have a classic's films name SLAPPED on top....." I see what you did there MOJO.
4:45 again really Jason X was great man
In August 2021 I was confident it would be a long time before I saw a movie as bad as Space Jam 2 again. Unfortunately, the very next week I had to endure A24's "The Green Knight".
Any lackluster sequel or remake nobody wanted is pretty much a cash grab
Am i the only one that actually likes home alone 3, despite its flaws.
Love Home Alone 3. The toy car thing reminds me of the movie Remote. Which is a great family film.
Terminator Genisys is not the cash grab - Dark Fate is. Sin City 2 stuck in development hell for years.
I'd like to see a top 10 actors who blames the viewer for their movie failure
The sequel to Space Jam was so boring I feel asleep. Same with the Lion King Live Action.
Yeah Disney's becoming like this dumb unstoppable behemoth throwing millions at everything like that's automatically going to make it a passable film or film franchise. Used to love Marvel movies, now I'm just like maybe I'll watch them. For free. One day
I still enjoyed the first Fantastic Beasts. And Angry Birds, and The Hobbit Trilogy, and Kingdom and the Crystal Skull/Dial of Destiny
Speed 2 was nowhere near as good as the first movie but it wasn’t so bad that it should be #1 on this list. A lot of films on here was much worse than the Speed sequel 💯
Son of the mask
Right. Horrible movie, but you can tell they didn’t watch the movie. lol
Yeah, this movie actually killed what made me love the first movie. Well, this and probably the short lived series of course maybe
It's so bad it's even ridiculous for kids.... it's THAT bad !!!
You got the plot of "Son of the Mask" wrong. Jamie Kennedy's character wasn't the son of Stanley Ipkiss. The "son" is the baby that was conceived when the character was wearing the mask and had sex with his wife. I'm not defending the movie by any means, but you come off as disingenuous when criticizing a movie and it seems like you didn't even watch it.
Tbf who would watch that movie?
I rather enjoyed Genisys. all I'd been wanting was for the franchise to close the loop and have us watch as Kyle Reese goes back in time. it finally happened, and I was happy
They still put Genesis on there, but no dark fate. considering that film is actually worse than all the previous post terminator two movies because they killed John Connor in the first five minutes
Speed 2 has that very awesome over the top action sequence where the ship crashes into the harbour though. Probably worth all the time you lost until then
Take what I say with a bag of salt, but for me personally I enjoyed Sin City: A Dame to kill for more than the original.
I don't know know about better than the 1st, but it doesn't deserve to be on this list.
@@williamdixon-gk2sk instead of having Sin City: A Dame to kill for, it should have been Analyze That which was the sequel to Analyze This, which was one of the worst sequels I ever saw.
@@nicksoapdish157 I say 'the thing' prequel.
One example: The Emoji Movie! It’s a literally cash grab!
Fantastic Beasts didnt have to be a cash grab though. They had a solid chance to tell the story of how Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, a story that a lot would be interested in. But they took the tone of the original HP movies where you felt all the danger that Harry, Ron and Hermione did and scrubbed it clean, threw a few easter eggs in there and tried to sell it to us.
Every Jim Carey sequel without Jim Carey.
Street Fighter The Legend Of Chun Li (2009) All I have to say why did they have to coincide this tragedy with Street Fighter 4 (2009) my crush on Kristen Kreuk aside who's dumb Idea was to cast Damien Darhk as M. Bison or Taboo from The Black Eyed Peas as Vega atleast Robin Shou was lucky enough to pull a Christian Bale move and play Gen from Street Fighter (1987) he did play Liu Kang In Mortal Kombat (1995-1997)
The long line of Disney Plus Cash-Grabs read like a god damn dictionary
Bob Saget's scenes on DUMB AND DUMBERER alone were worth watching!!!... RIP BOB SAGET
Emoji Movie, Transformers Sequels are two that come to mind I didnt see here
20. The "Fantastic Beasts" series (2016-22) 19. The Angry Birds Movie (2016) 18. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) 17. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) 16. Moral of the story: dont make a sequel to a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey.
Doubtful that even SOTM could've been saved by Carrey, tbh
@@linda10989 oh I totally agree. I just meant in a general sense. These Hollywood bozos need to learn that if the original actors aren't interested, it's not worth doing.
Cash grab movies can be good though. The Lego Movie is a prime example.
Escape from LA, the completly uneeded and overall terrible Escape from Newyork sequel. The first is a cult classic
I heard the film was originally planned around 1986, but was cancelled in favor of Big Trouble In Little China. Then Carpenter got kinda forced to do it by Warner Bros in the 90s. That’s probably why it wasn’t good like its much better predecessor Escape From NY
I think most of Phase 4 and 5 of MCU can fit this list. As well as recent The Exorcist: Believer (reboot/sequel)
You could've add: *Almost Every Modern Disney Movie Ever *Ghostbusters (2016) *Star Wars Sequel Trilogy *Ice Age sequels *Super Mario Bros. (Live-Action)
13:37 The Lion King, Aladdin, Cinderella, Dumbo, etc. didn't need the live action treatment. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
The worst cash grab I have ever seen is Caddyshack 2.
Jason X is AWESOME AF, an GARBAGE list
Jason X is one of my favorites, Freddy Vs Jason was pretty good, Jason Lives is probably the best one, I rewatched the all of them in order recently, most of the previous ones don’t hold up even a bit. You can tell F vs J had the biggest budget.
Ace Ventura Jr. could have worked if they just got a better kid for the part.
My man left out Matrix 4 :D
Jason X is the most entertaining movie on this list and I wish I could've gotten my money back for the "live action" Lion King.
Amazing video watch mojo of cash grab movies, fantastic job. I really enjoy fantastic beasts movies and hobbit movies too.
And oh boy. Harry Potter is far from over. A TV series is in the works. 😒 Also, I'm surprised the Insidious sequels aren't on here.
I would've added Ghostbusters 2016 to this list as well
If you knew the whole story behind it, you'd demand it be #1 on the list!
Jaws: the Revenge, ththe exception to my opinion that Michael Caine hasn't made a bad movie
I mean, _Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull_ isn’t the best film in the pentalogy, as that honor is split between _Raiders of the Lost Ark_ and _The Last Crusade,_ but as I see it, it helped promote the 2009 Traveler’s Tales LEGO game _LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues._ Funny thing is that KOTCS has three parts in its _LEGO Indiana Jones 2_ adaptation.
I don't care for the ranking videos. Some of the "worst ranked." Were actually my favorites. And I didn't care for some of the"best ranked."
They actually left a shit ton out of the hobbit.. there was this whole like month (it felt like) in a crazy forest, fighting giant spiders, and crossing enchanted rivers. The spider incident is actually very telling about the possible origins of the spiders for those who wouldn't know. In The Hobbit book, Bilbo puts the ring on to escape two spiders, finds out he can understand their spider language while wearing the one ring. They say "where is it?", "It hides!", and Bilbo has a sympathetic moment taking his first life, because he stabs them with the ring on, so he can understand their screeches of pain. Just such a compelling thing, i dont know why they didn't put it in the movie.
Honestly, I'm surprised Rhys Frake-Waterfield's Twisted Cinematic universe isn't on the list. Seriously! He could've made any original film, and yet he'd banking on Kid's childhood being in the public domain and turn them into unnecessary horror films
Next list: Top ten WatchMojo lists that have Jaws: The Revenge on them.
When I think of "cash grab" movies, I think of the ripoff movies that come out in the wake of ultra successful movies, like Titanic 2 and all the Shark movies that came out after Jaws. Most of these are just bad and belated sequels. There is a difference.
You say, ironically, "leave Miller's work alone" and include "The Spirit" as Miller's work. "The Spirit" was created by WIll Eisner. Miller poorly adapted it to the screen.
Very poorly!
RIPD & RIPD 2 Did you know that Men in Black knockoff & major Box Office Flop had a sequel? I didn't until I saw it at Wal-Mart in the bargin bin.
Just because their all cash grabs doesn't mean they're all terrible movies But you're right about most Say what you want about the LION KING remake, i think it was fun
No Matrix sequels? Oh, wait sorry, that's not a thing never mind I guess I just went crazy for a few seconds.
It always made me laugh how Disney spent 260 Mil in The Lion King to basically redo Mr. Ed.
Jason X was pretty cool, way better than Jason Goes To Hell.
Literally every MCU movie and Disney remake
Hey, I genuinley enjoyed the idea of Newts journey of creating the textbook for hogwarts in the past. I thought it was a great idea to explore more of the wizarding world of the past honestly. I also thought the angry birds film was actually pretty well written for a animated film with a fun story.
I was living happily without knowing half of those existed.

Home Sweet Home Alone was a movie that we didn't need. At least Home Alone 3 was decent. Yeah it wasn't Kevin McAllister or Harry and Marv but that movie at least stayed true to its roots. Home Alone Taking Back the House (Home Alone 4) actually starred the McAllister family....without the original actors. Harry wasn't there but Marv was. Not played by Daniel Stern because he declined to reprise his role for that movie. French Stewart played Marv. One thing about Home Sweet Home Alone was that the couple were only trying to get something back that they thought the kid took but he thought they were going to kidnap him.
Moral of the story: don’t recast jim Carrey in any sequel
So true, and it's good that we heard that that message has been already thought of by Paramount when they confirmed that they'd never recast Robotnik in the Sonic movies that that studio has been making lately because they know that Jim Carrey was the best casting choice for that movie version of Sonic's scientific arch nemesis, and that no one else could handle acting as Robotnik in the same way that that famous comedian actor has been able to.
To be honest, cash grabs would be a step up from the stuff they are making nowadays.
I thought for a moment you were really going to put Ron Perlman's HellBoy
I have to admit that I actually enjoyed the "Spice World" film when I was as a kid 😅. However, to me, this is a good example of a cash grab movie. The Spice Girls were cash cows in their heyday. Subsequently the public quickly had enough of them because of their overexposure. I think that's why their career didn't last that long. They had two really big albums and after five years they were done.
Sad childhood
Some films like Matrix Resurrection have great idea, but they didn't put effort to develop. Even WB said that they would've built film without ensemble cast anyway. It's sad many studios manipulating with people nostalgia.
At least Jason X is way more entertaining than 3 previous films from that series.
If the Hobbit Trilogy was only 2 movies, it would not be on this list.
Now so a list for cash grab movies that were actually good
You can say anything about blues brothers 2000 , but the Musice is still good ! Especially with the Ghost riders song _O_
Agreed!
Jason goes to Hell, was and is atrocious, and should replace Jason X on the list. Jason X is just dumb fun and very rewatchable.
Jason X has always been one of my guilty pleasures
@THANATOS-PRIME It’s a fantastic ride. Fun fact: The creators of Jason X knew space is where horror movoe franchises go to die, so they decided to just have fun with it. Not that I'm complaining. :)
im glad they didnt mention pacific rim, because it had no sequels...
I don't know for anybody else, but the Transformers series should have ended at the 3 movie.
Every movie is a cash grab, even good movies are done for the money.
💯 And we all pay for each and every movie. 🧐
Mm-hm. Ironic, isn't it?
I kind of liked the Fantastic Beasts movies. I don't know enough about the lore to have been disappointed about any inconsistencies, which I heard was a big deal to fans of the series. The first one was noticeably better than the other 2, story-wise, but I like the Harry Potter world and I thought the CGI was pretty good, the scenes with magic were entertaining. I don't know, I know they weren't doing well but I would have loved it if they managed to still have that supposedly epic Dumbledore vs Grindenwald fight. Maybe cut their losses, give up on the 5 movies plan and just do a final 4th, but I that was never realistically an option. Oh, well.
Some originals are best left untouched.
