    • I agree. This video's take on the opening scene was far too cynical. You can reduce / criticise *any* bit of entertainment / creative endeavour if you to come to with with an ultra-adversarial approach. I'm all for critiquing stuff, and most films I've seen down the last 10 years have disappointed me, but the opening scene here was incredible and atmospheric, especially in how the foley sound meshed in interesting ways with the soundtrack. It's one of the best Bond openers.

    @FPShkED@FPShkED8 жыл бұрын
    • +Edwin Au Yeung I can appreciate that, but you can't just insert impressive shots into a film if they have no purpose but to be impressive shots. It doesn't add anything to the film except running time.

      @dstarr3@dstarr38 жыл бұрын
    • +Dave Starr I agree they could of cut that shorter. Director fail lol

      @FPShkED@FPShkED8 жыл бұрын
    • +Edwin Au Yeung Well, to be perfectly honest, Spectre's Director of Photography, Hoyte van Hoytema, admitted that that scene was accomplished by 3 takes, stitched together. From the skull to Bond and the woman going into the hotel is one shot. The Dias de los Muertos poster is CGI'd in, this is the first stitch. Second shot is Bond and the woman in the lobby, through the lift, ending with Bond saying that he won't be long. The camera moving out of the window is the second stitch. The third and final shot is Bond walking on the rooftops and setting up his gun. Doesn't mean the scene isn't breathtaking, and amazingly executed, but technically it isn't one shot.

What you see falling towards Bond is the building's facade that broke loose by the explosion, then dropped a foot or two first before falling forward in one piece which was completely plausible. They still often break loose during earthquakes killing people.

That might explain it.

It's one you can watch over and over just because it goes everywhere and each piece is shot well and looks great. It's one you have on in the background at a party to show off your tv sort of film. But yes, I wish they had made it look good and make sense too.

This organization is so secretive that even their own officials are kept secret from anyone outside the organization, even the common security folks don't get to know anything because of its secrecy. A conspiring organisation run by a German criminal mastermind infiltrates government security and uses mass surveillance to basically run the world. Did I mention Spectre and Hydra both use an octopus?

    @Kiraboshi128@Kiraboshi1288 жыл бұрын
    • +Kiraboshi128 SPECTRE made its debut in the books before HYDRA made its debut in the comic books. The Red Skull (Captain America's nemesis) existed before James Bond and SPECTRE (or SMERSH, for that matter), but HYDRA did not. Stan Lee is always accusing people of ripping off his characters (he thinks Darth Vader is a ripoff of Doctor Doom, not knowing George Lucas' Asian obsession), but he's as bad as anyone (the Avengers ripped off the Justice League, Spider-Man and Daredevil both ripped off Batman, the Kingpin ripped off Lex Luthor, the X-Men ripped off the Doom Patrol, and so on).

      @UncleMikeNJ@UncleMikeNJ8 жыл бұрын
    • Don't get me wrong, I'm a first-hour James Bond fan and I would never say Fleming copied Stan Lee. I'm not pointing the organisation itself, but rather how the movie handled its plot. I'm just saying they could have introduced SPECTRE without resorting to the exact same plot device Marvel used in Cap 2. I'm also quite bothered to see the Snowden case becoming a convenient gimmick rather than a real opportunity to raise awareness on mass surveillance and its consequences.

      @Kiraboshi128@Kiraboshi1288 жыл бұрын
    • +UncleMikeNJ The Red Skull was only involved with Hydra in the movies. In the comics it was always founded and led by Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker.Also Blofield in the books was born in Germany to a Polish father and a Greek mother. None of which has anything to do with the similarities of the movies, but I'm pointing it out because I feel like it.
