As a former Boston Center controller I wish all VFR pilots were as good with check-ins and phraseology as you, good work, makes our job easier
Good Lord! What a gorgeous bird. Seriously, that can make a grown man cry.
Nothing sounds like a Mooney on take off. That low muffled growl like my '66 Mustang and they don't struggle at all. Smooth power.
Man, such an awesome bird! That flight was short but looked very challenging! Fly well brother!
That’s a beautiful plane! I saved this video as an example of what I want my Mooney to be like someday
I am not a pilot but been watching all types of aviation videos for many years, I was amazed to see you can speak to a system to change instruments setting like you did.
It’s called Garmin Telligence www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/aviation/talking-to-your-airplane/
When I was a student pilot at Danbury, my instructor landed a brand new, factory fresh Mooney gear up on a delivery flight from Texas. He was accompanied by another very experienced pilot, and neither of them was paying attention. They both had some 'splainin' to do for the guy who owned the dealership.
Hope they paid for the damage
Just Wow! What a plane! What instrumentation ! Used to fly with my father in the 70’s. He had a Mooney 20J Somethings remain the same other things like nav and comm. are so different. Beautiful Plane and what appears to me a great pilot😎
Today was my first flight with you very enjoyable and I just love your Mooney. I am fascinated by the voice actived management systems that you showed. Never seen one like that before, you learn something new each and every day. Look forward to more flights In the future best regards Malcolm.
I have been attracted to the M20J since I first got into aviation. Love these vids and I hope to see more of them!
Thanks for sharing. Love the plane and the panel.
Nice glass thanks for taking us along for the ride
SO cool to see all those Mooneys gathering!
205J has a gorgeous panel!! Love your videos, please record more!! Thanks for sharing.🙏
Wow, it really is that loud when you throw the power on! XD Awesome vid!
Awesome video! Your Mooney is amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing your cross country flight out west!
Great fun - Thanks for making these videos - I'm merely a sim GA hobbyist planning how to spend my powerball winnings - sure do enjoy the rides you give us. Your plane is gorgeous. Now I'll go look for your TXi upgrade. Cheers.
Awesome video! Good work. Can’t wait to see more videos.
Great panel. Just subscribed. In the past I've had the opportunity to fly a M20j, a Mooney executive, the 201 and a Mooney Mustang. Currently fly a Cessna 182 RG. Fly safe
Very nice! Thanks for uploading.
awesome plane . Thanks for the ride !
I used to watch Mooneys in the middle sixties near Love Field, in Dallas, Texas. Nice quiet trip.
Great vid and nicely equipped Mooney (even though you're upgrading). I want some if that equipment in my plane when I grow up!
Wow!!! You take excellent care of your airplane. I subscribed after just one minute into the video.
Loved this video. I'm training in an Alaris CH2000 and debating on my first plane after I get my necessary ratings.
Beautiful Mooney!
Great video! Your camera positions are really good for getting a feel for the flying experience. I'm a rusty pilot just getting current again so it was interesting to see how you use your avionics. I didn't realize that there was so much available...I trained in the early 90s when GPS was just becoming available to general aviation. Seriously considering getting a Mooney for my planned mission. Please post more videos like this!
Dave Penney if you're in Calgary, apparently we have a lot in common lol!
Nice airplane. Love those Moonies!
Finally, a pilot on KZhead that doesn’t try to bring the gear as soon as the wheels are an inch off the runway! Thank you for being responsible!
Cool video!
Ha! So you're the guys who took up all the ramp spots. I'm based out of Reading (Aero Club) and I flew a few around the circuit that day. Bit windy, but manageable.
Thanks Rmag
And now i fly that very same JPI 930 in a 68 G model great doing business with the gentlemen and his company. I dont know how people fly with old steam gsuge engine gauges
Great panel layout, nice clean work. Thanks for the video. BTW SureFlight did a great job to my A36 - very happy with it - now i wished i went to G500 too.
Thanks Thomas... if you ever do upgrade, now you can do a G500 TXi which is the newest generation touchscreen from Garmin.
Went with 750/650 and aspen because the TXi was not available in January - love ASPEN install that Chris did but will definitely go to TXi next time.
Sweet Mooney! That panel alone is probably worth more than my 77 Grumman AA-5B Tiger!
I really like that voice command function.
Love your plane. Do you have O2? What about the plug in portable aviox system?
Beautiful airplane. I wasn't aware that Mooney's were so small.
CMallory not that small, sit in Mooney ( new ones) and sit in bonanza
Very nice !
Nice setup
Real Nice setup.
But how do you see the map during the flight?
N205J is a dreamboat! Mooney's are cool and this is among the best, tho I'd put a three blade on it. Very fine piloting. I'm guessing a Navy pilot.
Beautiful airplane wow
I believe you would want a rise in oil pressure when exercising the prop (pulling it back to High pitch, low rpm position is accomplished with oil pressure acting on the piston... multi-engine airplanes with featherable propellers are the opposite... awesome video and Mooney! Looking forward to seeing more
Take a look at this animation when the prop lever is pulled back. www.boldmethod.com/images/learn-to-fly/aircraft-systems/how-a-constant-speed-prop-works/animation-prop-back.gif oil will be supplied to propeller hub causing slight drop in the system since oil pressure gauge takes reading of engine oil system; not the oil in prop hub.
Rmag is correct. In Mooney's, oil pressure drop on cycling the prop.
Recognised the plane from +Premier1Driver's video
What did the panel upgrade cost?
Awesome plane, nicest interior I've seen on a Mooney and amazing panel. What year is it? Did you restore it? Thanks

Love the airplane! I’m curious if your seats go down at all? I’m 6’7” and thinking about getting an M20J but from your video it looks like your head is really close to hitting the headliner. I’ve flown an m20E but it was years ago and I was a bit thinner.
You’d have to recline the seat a little more. I have hit the ceiling in turbulence. I’m 6’2”.
Your in Washington?
That's an outstanding video. And I was going to say that that panel is as cool as it gets. But of course with avionics, what you have is never as cool as it gets. There's no fee at RDG if you're going to have lunch at the restaurant ... there's no landing fee or parking or ramp fee, is that correct? Was thinking of flying in there this coming weekend.
Thank you for the compliments, and correct, no fees at Reading.
Holy hell, i have never seen that much glass in a mooney! Very impressive, would hate to see the final tally for that rig.

Rmag nice piece on the work done... that would have been a fun project. Very nice show piece.
Pretty bird
What happen to the old Garmin equipment?
Garmin is offering a trade in program for the G500 screen.
I've been a Mooney driver (M20J) for 15 years now and would like to find out about Mooney gatherings in NY/NJ/PA. Is there an organized group out there?
There is a yahoo group. The group owner organizes fly ins. groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NJMooney/info
What year is your plane? Gorgeous.
1987
Any interest in selling that 930 when you pull it out?
Go to www.sureflight.com, contact us, and fill out the web form asking about the 930.
Rmag message sent
Why do all these vids show cabin and back of pilots head.. but never did a walk around.. Ide like to see the plane a bit
What app, social network, or website do use to connect with other Money owners.
Mooneyspace.com is probably the biggest website. Regarding the NJ Mooney group: see here: mooneyspace.com/topic/21583-how-to-join-njmp-nj-mooney-pilots-for-northeasterners/
How do you get traffic onto your GTN? Looking for GTS 800 or Lynx 9000 or just a stratus on the iPad.
I have a Garmin GTX 345 ADSB In and Out transponder that displays it.
How much time would driving take?
About 50 minutes. I actually live about 30 min from RDG Airport. I had to drive 30 min the wrong way to get the plane and then fly 30 min to RDG. So it makes no sense to fly other than the fact it was a “fly in”.
Are you at all worried about the possibility of losing all your digital displays if the power suddenly went out or CPU froze up or something? Seems like you'd want to have at least airspeed and altitude steam gauge backups just in case? And a backup artificial horizon would be nice too.
That is why a have a separate backup. The small unit to the upper right of the G500 is a L3 ESI-500 back up altimeter, attitude indicator, airspeed indicator, heading indicator which is battery powered in the case of an electrical failure.
@@RMAG oh.. awesome! I love your plane
Question. Why did you first contact approach before landing even though you were flying VFR? Couldn’t you have gone straight to tower?
Typically when an airport has its own approach and departure control you contact them first as they route departing or arriving flights into the airspace. Tower handles the takeoffs and landings. If I called Tower outside the airspace they would have asked me to contact approach.
@@RMAG Thank you!
He was constantly busy fiddling with all those radios the entire trip. I guess it keeps you from getting bored.
Maravilhoso
Do you have a video talking about your avionics? Looks like a sweet setup.
Quite a few, browse the videos on my channel.
Next time there’s a Mooney meeting in the Northeast send me a message. Thanks,,
that's nice bro but what are those seats about? you don't look like a huge guy but the actual headrest barely reach your shoulder blades... I'm 193cm tall how could I set that seat or lean back enroute...? 🤔🤔 i know that in old times this was the norm, even 70s 80s cars but how that's a go today?
The headrest can move up, it’s adjustable.
Why say "clear prop", and instantly start the engine?
It’s a warning to anyone that may be in the area that a prop is about to start. It is a safety warning.
Then why do they start the engine one second after saying "clear prop" ? Not much time to get away at all. In most cases, none.
It’s an alert to tell people that may be in earshot to “keep away”. If someone was already “in the way” no a few seconds would not matter. That is why you look left, forward, and right to look for someone “in the way”. Then you don’t start it until they are clear. I always visually clear the area, to make sure no one is “in the way” and then give an audible “clear prop” to alert people to keep away and not approach the plane at this time.
oh
@@RMAG -- Really ? I don't believe that 'Clear Props' is to stop people approaching the aircraft -- it's for the child sitting under the nose (For example). Starting the motor almost immediately that you shout the warning, without a pause, is a poor habit. Automobiles are now equipped with rear-facing cameras. Now, there's an idea.
i can't think of another YT GA pilot that i've watched videos of, that brings it in high and slow, an drops into the runway. so many videos of YT GA pilots flying their 1970's era single engine into the runway like they are delivering cargo and passengers. keep that altitude until you don't need it anymore.
ATIS was so aggressive lol
All that glass is not good for safety. Gotta have some steam backup.
That’s what the small gauge to the right of “N205J” on the panel is. Backup, attitude, altitude, airspeed, bank, vertical speed, heading and it has separate battery backup. It would be illegal to have an IFR capable airplane without backup instruments. Mechanical steam gauges don’t make a better backup.
I don't like GPS heading... 😏
That panel is better than porn...well, most porn.
I always liked Mooneys but more so when they were not Chinese airplanes. Soaring America Corporation company.
