The soundtrack of "Vinland Saga" features many tracks with piano, most of which are played in key moments of the show. They are not especially melodic nor reprise any kind of leitmotif, but I find them somehow meaningful for the overall tone of the story.
Maybe I waited too much to share this, considering how well received were my previous Vinland Saga videos. Anyway, in this compilation I added also the track "Flashpoint", even though it isn't a piece of piano solo. It might standout above the other tracks, but I think it's worth it. I hope you'll enjoy it!

"PIANO MEDLEY" (SHORT Version) - Download Link Hey you all, thank you so much for appreciating this video, but I have to confess that, over time, I prefer listening to this compilation without "Flashpoint", which now I feel that it doesn't fit with the overall mood. So, I uploaded in the link down below the audio of this video, but without "Flashpoint" in it 😎 You don't have to agree with me on this, but if you liked this compilation I really suggest you to listen also the shorter version. For me, it flows better without any 'orchestral' distraction, so to speak 😅 You'll find in the same link also the background images I used for this video, which someone asked me some time ago 👍 Here's the link: mega.nz/folder/52ZzFChL#eLs3UH6vcXJwDX2d2dwkRg

Maybe if it came towards the end just before tenderness. Maybe overtime I will feel that way too

Flashpoint is so good it stands out everytime I listen to this playlist. So yes in a way it doesn't fit with the overall mood.
utopia hits different..it makes me think of a certain place, far to the west..across the sea, it is warm and fertile..far from slavery and the fires of war..that land is called Vinland
Hehe nice quote. Rip Thors
That place goes by another name... North America
@@kendallsans4943 ok Ben Shapiro
@@pianoboi4842 i mean he's not wrong lmao. Vinland, the land of grapes, was modern day newfoundland in eastern Canada. The vikings accidentally discovered it and tried to settle but failed due to hostilities from the native americans. This was around 1000 AD, nearly 500 years before columbus discovered the carribean and west indies. It went unnoticed by most of europe as it was only spoken of by the sea farers of greenland and iceland and it was recorded and left there. Little did they know that what they discovered was an entire new world.
Makes one think if the viking kings showed up in mass could they hold it I believe they could've, but with strong marriage alliances. Food would be a constant issue for a few years until they could farm. Battle tactics would essentially be the same, arrows would rein supreme in that sense. Vikings would have advantages in armor and steel/iron swords. Would be interesting to say the least

The soundtrack does such a good job to really bring the incredible story of Vinland Saga into the animated form.
1. The soundtrack composed by Yutaka Yamada on itself is a lobster served in the best plate ever. 2. The story of Makoto Yukimura is always a good tale to hear and read. 3. Mappa is just one of the best animation studios in current times. 4. The comics and artistry is outstanding too. Now imagine all those four things combined. The result is Vinland Saga.
dagger just brings so much emotions and makes you reall lock yourself in your mind and think about stuff, not just the anime but real life, this anime is trully a masterpiece
Can't wait for season 2 in 6 months
Attack On Titan Will Always Be Close To My Heart No Sorry , AOT Is The Very Heart Of Mine. As It Initiated A New Version Of Mine , One Far Better Than The Previous One. AOT Taught Me A Lot. Yutaka Yamada is the best piano composer in the anime industry. This is an objective fact and I challenge you to change my mind.
We don't . Mate
Yeah, best piano composer in the anime industry by a decent margin
Don't forget that Yoko Kanno, Sawano or even Hisaishi exist. Still, they could be only at the top level, but no one is over... no one. And finally, in terms of only piano Yamada is the greatest in this moment. So finally I was unable to change your mind.
@@KakiztoX sawano is my favorite composer in anime but I think in just terms of piano yamada is untouchable, sawanos use of other instruments and ensemble is perfect but yamadas use of piano by itself evokes some of kind of emotion that cannot be replicated
you're sleeping on yuki kajiura, hiroyuki sawano, yoko kanno, Yuki Hayashi and Shiro Sagisu. Yutaka Yamada is up there with them, but I have no idea which one of them is the best though. I think all of them go for pretty different feelings though, so I don't think it's fair to compare the bombastic choirs of Hiroyuki Sawano, with the melancholic piano of Yutaka Yamada.
The music in Vinland Saga always gives me this feeling of sadness that I can't really explain. Definitely one of the best soundtracks ever

The mind of Yutaka Yamada and Makoto Yukimura are very rare minds. We lived long enough to see them prosper and build a garden for us. What can be said about one of the best, IF NOT THE BEST series that treat the four topics of love, war, family and peace splendidly. How can ANYONE miss this or even skip it. Anyone who hasn't read Vinland Saga, please do so. I read the story without the drawings. I read the Manga and of course the work of Mappa. Well, Mappa IS always being Mappa. It's pure talent right there in JUST one product. Too much talent. It's absurd how good this is. It reaches abstract levels fast.
I fully agree with every single point, absolute peak masterpiece
Its refreshing to listen to piano music like this once in a while, especially since it makes you think of Vinland Saga. Thanks mate.
Dagger have so much depth in the scene wher it comes from. The old woman seeing the image of his lost child covered in blood after killing one of his neighbours, and thorfinn seeing a good souls crying after seeing him like if he sees his mother and sister crying for what he becomed
When reading the manga, I couldn't stop thinking about Askeladd and how proud he'll look at Thorfinn being a changed man travelling across the world and exploring Vinland
I’ve played piano for 16 years. I listen to piano music almost daily. Maybe this is just me. But I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a piece or multiple pieces before that has made me feel so at peace and calm as this has.
Same here! I took lessons for piano while I was a teenager but later I stopped playing it - but the piano has still remained the instrument that manages to move me the most. And for Yutaka Yamada, the way he plays the piano is just outstanding in its simplicity and emotionality. Not only Vinland Saga, but also Tokyo Ghoul is pretty good
i felt the same. i've been playing the piano since i was 5 (18yo now) and it just hits different
I don’t really know how to describe it. It’s devoid of major melody and yet somehow it’s so beautiful. I’m glad someone else feels the same way I do. I don’t have any friends that appreciate this kind of music like I do. It gets lonely lol
Small village is easily my favourites, it sounds the most home-like and nostalgic, almost more than looking back but living in the past, the easiness of the childhood and how much a little understanding of the world we had while young, just fantasising and living a life free from responsibility and full of hopes and dreams.
I agree. Small village really hits different after watching season 2. It puts me in a state of peace and makes me wish I was young again. Every time it was played throughout the show, it was during flashbacks with mainly Thorfinn or when people were reminiscing over old good memories. The composer did a great job with the delivery of that piece.
this soundtrack has single-handedly gotten me through the past two months of studying for the bar exam
Vinland Saga's OST really is an underrated masterpiece. I hope someday it gets the same appreciation that AOT OST got
I'm happy to see that Vinland Saga is slowly growing in appreciation and popularity for the anime comunity and the general audience. As for the music, I believe that AOT is generally more appealing because it has much more action compared to Vinland - but this one has a lot of piano music that people are discovering and loving. Also thanks to Season 2, the music is getting even more beloved and popular. For example, I didn't really recall any significant scene with the track "Rusty Sword" from Season 1, but now, after the scene with Gardar and Arnheid from Season 2, it's probably my favourite piano track from all the series.
This anime really is the whole package, top tier writing, story, soundtrack, animation, characters and character development
Utopia and dagger are Top-tier especially when they chose to use it in the anime
Flashpoint for me is the one. I feel like listening to the song takes me back through watching the anime, it never gets old.
Flashpoint is so epic, i can see a celt looking roman ships arriving, then boudica, the saxons, the legend of Arthur, then at 15:10 a monk drops firewood at the sight of a sea beast coming out of the fog and runs towards the monastery of Lindisfarne, then with the music all the important figures, Ragnar, Sweyn, Canute, Hardrada and finally William the conqueror.
Flashpoint awaken and Intertwined are my absolute favourites. Honourable mention to Somewhere else and dual blades
Flashpoint is such a banger of a song !!!!
i love these scenes where this music is playing and you can just see the landscape
Hi friends, hope you all well. Had a tough few weeks. Hoping to pull through xx
Flashpoint is amazing
22:13 in my opinion, this part to me was so beautiful as this part I remember playing during the unraveling of askeladd’s story to both the prince and thorfinn with such a cold posture, sitting on some ruins in the blistering snow, while wrapped together with this beautiful piece playing within the background to truly settle it all into what beauty it built within the anime itself. Truly a beautiful masterpiece 👏
It was the best anime I've ever watched because of the plot. It was great to see the development of our bass actor thorfin. One of the factors that makes this anime outstanding is undoubtedly the legendary soundtrack. Here i would like to pay my respects to yutaka yamada. keep up the good work man, You're doing a great job!
"Stay back Thorfinn!"
I didn't know about Yutaka Yamada before Vinland Saga. I was so moved when I hear the back music of piano while I was watching VInland Saga and then I found out about Yutaka Yamada. So great and beautiful piano music. Arigato to put this on air.
Yutaka Yamada is actually one of the most appreciated anime composers, especially for his works in "Tokyo Ghoul" which features a lot of piano too but also contains more modern-style music and a lot of songs. I definitely suggest you to listen "Tokyo Ghoul", the anime isn't actually the best adaptation but the music is really REALLY good.
@@Tim_S_Lucas Arigato , I will.👍

@@KidNamedDenji think about it.
@@KidNamedDenji it's often while trying to become as different as we can from something we hate that we end up becoming similar in ironic ways. Just in different ways.

yutaka yamada u made me falling in love first time with your licht un schatten song from tokyo ghoul soundtrack, now this vinland saga , u such a incredible artist
It's very odd, I have been writing a book since 2016 and I just recently finished it (150 pages.) I'm going through the revision to fix things, edit, all that good stuff. The most recent part I wrote was of course the last part. My story is somewhat about personal redemption after being at the lowest point in your life, almost doing the deed that would end the journey altogether, being brought back from the brink by friends, family and love, and overcoming trials in life through those relationships. All that kinda tied up in a future punk ish feel. It's strange how Vinland Saga's most recent episode featured a dream from Thorfinn. He was in a field of golden wheat, thinking that real life was just a dream. That this was the real world, his father was there, it all seemed very nice. About a week before I watched that episode I wrote about my character coming to the end of his journey, and just before finally being free of his tortured past, he fell into a dream about an endless field of golden wheat, and finding his dead mother there in a small farmhouse, wishing that this had been his life instead. The theme of the field of wheat or just overall farming is a minor one in my story, since it is the character's past, but I immediately was surprised to see something so similar in Vinland Saga. There isn't some sort of deeper meaning, I think, to myself and the story writers writing something similar. At best, it simply shows that comfort for humanity comes in many ways, but something we all find truly comforting is a nice day, surrounded by ready to harvest crops and family that we may have lost. Our memories of a terrible existence extinguished by that field. Unfortunately for Thorfinn, unlike my character, his journey was not over.
Just want to note as well this isn't me advertising my book I'm not even sure if I'll release it lol it was mostly written to help me through some dark times, comment was more of an introspective almost journal entry than anything else. Thanks for reading though.
