Vinland Saga (Season 1-2) | Piano Medley by Yutaka Yamada
"Vinland Saga: Season 2" continues the story of Thorfinn through what is in my opinion the best story arc of the anime so far, and the musical score by Yutaka Yamada has elevated for me the emotional impact of the anime in many occasions. Although Yamada didn't write that much new piano solo tracks for the new anime, his music from the first season was used to great effect - especially the track "Rusty Sword" in Episodes 17 and 23.
For this compilation of piano tracks, I mostly kept the same structure and tracklist order of the Piano Medley I made three years ago for Season 1, but I added the new tracks from Season 2 towards the beginning. With the exception of "Itself", which by the way isn't even a piano solo track, there is no other full track that only contains piano: "The Oath", "The Path" and "Unleashed Winds" all contain just one part with only piano, but that move to more orchestral territory. Also, I didn't use again the track "Flashpoint", which appeared instead in the previous video. I hope you'll enjoy this new, a bit longer compilation of the gorgeous piano music for Vinland Saga.

I hate you for using that picture of Gardar for Rusty Sword. That episode almost broke me and made me fall in love with that song. That picture itself almost made me tear up. Love the video bro
I feel the same, actually! That episode really broke my heart and made me fall in love with "Rusty Sword", which I really didn't remember or appreciate particulary from Season 1. Now it's easily one of my favourites piano tracks from Yamada.

I checked the scene you mentioned, it's at the beginning of Episode 9 of Season 2 and the soundtrack is called "Small Village"! You'll find it at 31:44 in this compilation 😁

Since 'Itself' is in the list, I think you could have also placed the piano section of 'Volition'. Also I think 'The Pit' is not here because of how heavy it is.
Yeah, I didn't include "Volition" and especially "The Pit" because the tone of the music is quite intense and distressing, which would be distracting compared to the rest of the compilation. As for "Itself", it has a soft spot in my heart, honestly! Although the track includes violin, the melody it plays with the piano recalls me the death of Arnheid in Episode 20, which is one of the saddest moments of the entire series. I love this track too much to not include in this compilation.
@@Tim_S_Lucas I love "Itself" with all of its elements, but I still wish we had a just-piano version. It also plays during one of my favorite scenes between Thorfinn & Einar in episode 8. I'm glad you included it here.
