Cauliflower comes mostly from grappling. This is like Anderson Silva who doesn’t have much cauliflower if any and was also a striker.
This dude literally got into fighting around 21 and not even MMA, he’s got that touch of death and never say die attitude. He really is that guy but I fear if he comes across a light heavyweight maybe like ankalaev who can wrestle he may have problems but then again every fight starts on the feet and one thing is poatan may not be the best grappler but he’s good at nullifying ground and point which would result in the fight standing up again. Also managed to get up a few times against legit light heavyweights too

It’s like having someone who focuses on defensive wrestling let’s say against a Dagestan that been doing it their whole life, they will of course get better but your money would still be on the dude that’s been doing it way longer knowing they will be so much more proficient in it. Chimaev fans confuse me, they told me this guy can “potentially” become champion in 3 weight classes and he’s not making any fights for none of the belts. Go thru Usman he can get the belt at 170. Fight Whitaker and get a title shot at 185. Hill relinquished his belt at 205 so beat Pereira and get a title shot up there. But he’s fighting… NOBODY

Pereira did become everything we thought Khamzat would be. Everyone thought Chimaev would be active, smash everybody, and take 2 belts but Alex turned out to be that guy.

@@goat7728they both got their regions but I honestly disagree with Pereira being less famous than Khamzat internationally. I was there for his signing before UFC 297 and the fans absolutely loved him. Plus he became a two division champion and his rivalry with Izzy, who is more popular than Khamzat, definitely made him just as famous. Even MMA casuals know who Pereira is now. He just doesn’t have as many followers that’s all.

I’m big fan of khamzat but I would give the edge to Pereira in that fight. Chimaev is a fantastic wrestler but Pereira has world class kicking and striking skills that would make it difficult for Chimaev to close the distance and get on the inside where he excels the most. And if you ask any ai and google or mma experts their answer would be same. And don’t forget khamzat fights in light weight category and alex fights in light heavyweight there is significant difference between their opponents. Light heavyweight fighters are beasts.
