Also, a little wad made from toilet paper or cotton wool is excellent for sealing the powder charge from the projectile. The cannon will be even more powerful with the same amount of powder.

The idea is interesting.Making small cannons in decoration is very good but to use it to make shots,the brass is not particularly recommended and broken. I myself have been dismissed from a gun club for 17 years and I would not risk it.
@philipperabiet22473 жыл бұрын
This is actually quite odd, because bronze guns are known to be somewhat superior to iron ones. Cast iron guns can only handle so much chamber pressure before exploding, where a bronze gun is more likely to deform quite a bit from overpressure, but not explode and cause injury. Bronze guns are also much lower in friction coefficient when using cast iron shot, allowing higher velocity with equivalent powder charges from cast iron cannons. The lower friction also decreases chances of unsafe chamber pressure, because the shot is more likely to leave the bore, giving the pressure an easy path of least resistance. The only thing cast iron guns have over bronze guns, is iron is cheap and weighs less. So you could cheaply outfit a brigade with cast iron cannons that wouldnt pose much issue to move around, or use expensive and heavy, but superior, bronze guns.
