I had seen this stabbing your own had trick before from AGT magicians before, so the trick was kind of ordinary. but I think this guys persona is really cool.

There's obviously some creases or other inconspicuous details on the bags that only the magician can see, which means the magician can always find the spike (which is a knife in this case).
6:58 as dangerous as this seems. The only person at risk was the magician since he knew that the knife was there so he placed his hand underneath Simon's. Just in case something went wrong. Smart.

There has to be a safety net in case of mistakes with this kind of trick that involves a participant. Holding on the Simon's wrist isnt a sure way to avoid a mistake. Im guessing inside those boxes, on the top, is a hard surface in case the participant overpowers the magician, or slams his hand before the magician can even save him. Penn and Teller said something along the lines of, "if a trick is truly dangerous, its not a trick, its foolishness" something to that extent.
Mel always pressing the buzzer when these danger guys go on is so ridiculous. She is always ruining the moment and needs to be taken off the panel

Mel B hitting her buzzer because she's scared... smh. You're judging talent, not how much you like an act based on what your emotions can handle. Looking forward to seeing who NBC gets as a replacement.
She represents a whole subset of people who dont like these types of acts, which is the point. Each judge is supposed to like and dislike different things, to better express the demographic. It's like how there's usually one judge that hates clowns (simon, piers), there's usually one judge who loves stupid silly acts (howie), there's usually a judge that loves animal acts (sharon osb, simon), etc. You aren't the only person the show is catering to, and performance is all about pulling on emotions.

If they choose whoopie from the view, she can get picked by a muslim magician and a guillotine and the mistake come off perfectly and people laugh to see the dread head roll across the floor.. Now that would be a fantastic act ! Another one bites the dust and one more from the swamp...

Yea but the knive by itself is made of metal so its way heavyer. Im not saying that he doesnt exercise for this, but its not that much of a talent its more of a drama. Dont tell me that u believe he has mind power or he can see through things.

Dale Kruithoff no actually it’s all pattern from the ticking and where he placed the bag in the beginning. It also still would’ve worked out the same way at the end if he chose the other bag. He chose the one with the knife which, the guy already knew where it was but stopping there was better than stopping it on the right spot because it of the reaction.

Perhaps it just was kind of boring in person, the audience is not going to like every danger or magic type act that is on the show if it is not stepped up each time at this level on the show, alot of his stuff is old tricks just with more theatrics . I personally find this guys act boring, but to each their own.

No kidding 😂😂 The AGT audience prefers the millions of singing acts that really aren't that different or special from one another.
IMO, it felt really long in television with his intro/background story as well as the judges comments. I felt suspenseful at first but the further he went with the knife hidden in the bag, I felt bored and my mind already expected that Simon/he would end up okay until the twist with him almost getting stabbed. I thought the performance would’ve been the knife hidden in the bag to be the intro with Howie and then move on to something more suspenseful with Simon. Also to me, this seemed to be a more simplistic act (compared to his other performances) with too much special affects added in.
Mel B and Heidy said it was too long and drawn out. I completely disagree! I believe that actually added to the suspense and made it better!
It takes time for the suspense to build. He could have just crushed the 3 bags really quick but that would have been boring.

At 6:10, the magician double-checked to make sure he knew where the knife was by slightly adjusting the bottom of both, and feeling their weight. Good to know he was in control. :)

According to news here on KZhead (hopefully reliable) she’s got PTSD, which is a stress disorder and she’ll be getting rehab for it probably after the show. Let’s hope for the best for her. With that, she may have to rest. She’s got a lot going on in her personal life.

Everyone saying it’s to long. When you go to Vegas, a normal performances last around 7-12 min. That was not 12 min.

I enjoyed his other performances more because they were really dangerous and done with absolute skill. I've seen this "trick" done by others and therefore consider it a "trick" as opposed to skill, such as with the sword. I give total credit to the theatrics and suspense that he builds. He is such a great professional and his attire and whole appearance is outstanding.
Mel B needs to realize that talent isn't always about what you like or dislike, but it's about the thrill factor, the uniqueness, and the skill involved. She always buzzes dangerous acts, but this was very unique and exciting. She needs to go.

Are you serious? I've seen this type of act millions of times! This is a popular amateur magic act that many magicians have pulled before. Look up bag and spike trick. It is a very old trick that has been performed billions of times. Singing acts aren't all good. Many didn't get through. If someone is actually good at singing and they have tried so hard to get through, they should. However, if you do an amateur act like this, you don't. But somehow he did get through.

How about the mind reader two years ago the Clairvoyants? I didn't like them, but for some reason America liked them. However, their act is 100x better than this. Everyone knows how this act is done, but the Clairvoyants no one knew how it was done by looking at it. Their act was unique. This act I have seen millions of times. It is an amateur act and was not a QF act.
I LOVED this! This is the kinda stuff people pay to see in Vegas. He has such good stage presence & the suspense made this performance very memorable. Got my vote!

To everyone talking about the weight of the knife. It's howie who was selecting which box to pick. Not him. Yes of course he could tell which one the knife was in. But what if howie slammed the hammer at the wrong time? Im guessing theres another trick to this that solves that problem.
Howie did slam it at the wrong time. Didnt you see him switch to the other bag? Simon even said that if he had listened to Howie he would have been stabbed. The other trick is odds. In the beginning you have a 25% chance of not getting stabbed. Then 33% both great odds for the act. Then its 50/50 and like we just saw. That could go either way.
Firstly at 6:00 he adjusts the bags to feel the weight and determine which one it is in. Next he has two options depending on Howie. It doesn’t matter when he slams the hammer because either the magician is going to stop Simon’s hand like he did here, or he is going to press straight down. He just has two options.
Dennis Lee Didn't you see the whole act? What you said is only for the last one. And it'll be weird to rely on luck or probability for the whole act. Imagine having bad luck at the very start of the trick. I cant imagine him switching boxes right at the very start.
Actually, in the first 2 chances, he didn't put his hand where the knife actually was. So that makes things simpler.
it's also to trick viewers that you stop at the right time when he hits it. you can move your hand slower or faster / and he somehat tells him when to hit it with a hand gesture. still fail on the final strike with simon kinda sucks no?

personally I liked this act, I don't know if he is really mute but I think the reason this act was so long was because of Howey and Simon not knowing what he wanted from them, also suspense and the mixing of the boxes. I mean how long did it take Howey to understand that he wanted him to strike the hammer as a sign of stop. I want him to move on, just to see what he will do next, after learning from this mistake.

The dramatic effects is what attracted the audience but the trick itself is not mind blowing. You could easily feel the weight of the knife or have a a unique mark on the table or the bag.

By contract, its not whether or not she is kicked out, but when her contract expires, plus I doubt they'll listen to people who's comments mean little to nothing to them
How is she not a good judge? She is supposed to represent a subset of the demographic, and there's a very good chunk of people who don't like danger acts, wouldn't pay to watch it, and change the channel when that stuff comes on. I understand if you don't like her, but I would like to hear your more grounded reasons for why she is a bad judge or doesn't fulfill her role on the show.
People need to stop saying it's fake and just enjoy the suspense! It was a great act, it was dangerous and intense, and people need to appreciate how well Aaron did, he could've made a mistake. It's called an ACT for a reason. Acts are meant to entertain audiences, it shouldn't be judged for whether it's real or fake.

The trick was actually kind of ordinary, I had seen it several times before from AGT magicians. But I like his persona, really cool.
All he does is move them around to feel the weight and the sides of knife stand to know where its at. I caught it instantly.

I was laughing when simon looked back at howie and laughed.
I thought this was death defying and incredible! I felt like the timing with the dramatic music and his character is really well done. He does remind me of Colin Cloud last season tho, with the knives and just like Colin, I feel like Aaron will get into the Dunkin Save. However I really hope he makes it into the Semi Finals.

I know that people believe that he knew where the knife was by moving the boxes, which is true probably and he moved his hand so that way whenever the hammer went down his hand would be right where he wanted it to be. But while this was a simple trick, what made it so interesting was the way Aaron portrayed himself and his trick. He created suspense and fear which in turned created adrenaline for others. Honestly I thought it was a really cool act.
I would have LOVED to be in the LIVE AUDIENCE for THIS night! What a great SHOW!
