    • Hey Destin, Do you think the construction of the system of torques is accurate? I think the system he is describing is actually a series of linear forces. They produce motion in a circular path but no rotation, meaning no net torque is applied to the stick. The circular motion of the stick gives rise to the rotation, as described with the pen and roll of tape.

      @likhiiiii@likhiiiii5 жыл бұрын
    • @RadiatorSam You're right in saying he has built an incomplete model. Keep in mind that while the system precesses in a circle around the longitudinal axis, the torques creating that motion are actually in the other two axes between his fingers in contact on each hand, causing it to oscillate about those axes as they come in and out of contact with his fingers and the rod during vibration at opposing times and create the circular path of the vibrating stick about the longitudinal axis. Also, while they all cancel out, at any given time when in contact with his fingers and/or rod, there is a net torque as when one finger is in contact the other cannot be. What interests me is whether or not the diameter of the precessing circle would change while michaels rod hand bounces up and down the length of the stick which I would predict would cause the point of rotation of the two vibrating axes that the torques are acting on to change. Would the speed of the rotor also oscillate in synchrony with his rod hand position?

    • It’s now very likely that Vsauce is underperforming because of some hidden, arcane KZhead algorithm voodoo. Maybe it has to do with how recommends work. Maybe it’s because it has a lot of inactive accounts subscribed to it. Launching a new channel is probably resetting those hidden variables.
