They pushed a bios update that fried people's motherboards by randomly spiking the voltage from 1.5v to 2v to kill the lifespan of people's computers, they refused to compensate people and then made a beta driver update to help fix it but saying you sign your warranty away when you install it.

  • As someone from the Netherlands familiar with the Amsterdam Voc canalhouses, I think you are correct with the similarities. Having industrial buildings along with urban living areas isn’t that uncommon for many older city’s. You could look into some other Voc cities to get some more inspiration if needed. Like Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Medemblik, and for keeping the water out, you should look up the Fries Woudagemaal. You could add some big pipe towers to your builds with smoke coming out, have a nice harbor for supplying of goods and transport. The area is coming along very nice and interesting looking.

    • I haven't used them before but when I looked at a pc for a friend I found they have some of the worst price to performance, if you're in the UK AWD-IT is much better value, several hundred cheaper, looking at their pre configured pcs, £1.1k is crazy for an RTX 3060, for £100 less you can get a pc with well over double the performance and its not even like you're building it yourself, this is just looking at other prebuilt companies.

  • I would actually recommend smooth deepslate for the surroundings of the base. Stone from a distance is quite a blank texture and adds very little contrast, and any attempt at texturing will stick out amongst the bright gray. Conversely, smooth deepslate has contrast and any texturing done to it will be subtle, since its other variants don't contrast as heavily as stone's variants. Also, stone biomes have been done before, and stone can be instamined, while deepslate would be more impressive and would add contrast to the bright and colorful buildings.

  • Hi Iskall. I have an idea for the height differences. In London South Bank, they are similar height differences. There is a skate park underneath the raise section. There isn’t a solid cliff, like you’ve done so far. They have pillars holding it up, but it’s partially hollow beneath, and skaters hang out there. Building something similar with pillars below might make the height differences flow better.

    @DASPRiD@DASPRiD14 күн бұрын
    • Would you throw out the old PC? I can almost always find a use for them, even if it's donating them to people I know (after thoroughly wiping the hard drive)

    • It is possible to simply plug in an SSD and let windows work out the drivers required to handle all of the different hardware. The problem is, it can do wonky things with the OS when you do that. The best practice is to start with a clean install of windows and reinstalling the software you need on the new build. However, plugging in your old SSD in as a secondary drive so that you copy over documents and the plethora of software files makes a LOT of sense! Also when you’re done, you can wipe the drive and have more storage still.

    • @@DASPRiD I’m not saying it doesn’t work, it can work. It’s better if you go from say Intel to Intel processor… it’s gets more problematic if you go Intel to AMD or vice versa. Also, video card drivers and other loaded software for chipsets and other management software like from MSI or ASUS, etc.

  • hello neighbour, norwegian mailman here! i have experienced shipping wooden crates before, however not of that size. i used to deliver to a company that made drilling equipment for oil rigs among other things, and they'd get things like hoses and such in wooden crates for safety reasons. i think it just proves how much pc specialist values their customers and want to avoid customers sending back damaged goods by making sure that everything arrives in good condition.

That tower cooler and single 120mm fan are gonna be working SUPER hard to keeps things cool!

  • Iskall, I think to make the stone look a little less out of place, you could consider building like, a main center plaza. So maybe you have a fountain in the middle and some trees that line the sides, I feel like that would give it a central area for all of the apartments to sort of surround or congregate around, and then you can fill the apartments with idk like farms or storage or villagers. That way, your main area where you'll be going between buildings will be the plaza, where you can access farms and transfer items to some kind of main storage system perhaps in a bigger apartment building or maybe underground? Could be a good idea for how you make it into a long-term base solution.

  • I love the direction you're going with this base. Keralis in season 7 did something similar in terms of "floorage". Maybe you can get inspired from it. He did some diagonals, many changes of elevation which looked great in this style

Rlly been loving how you build looking forward to watching it continue to grow

  • Iskall you should make the window at the bottom left of the green part of the building (the one with the AC and the cat) be lit up to make your shading make more sense since that would be the light source causing the shading.

  • Idea for stone transition between levels: retaining walls, stone brick or red brick (textured of course) with a railing is what they would do in a city. No gradual hills, just a wall and maybe stairs. Pulling plastic was fantastic! Give Tango your cats in his starter base (it keeps spawning exploding creepers).

  • Nopt gonna lie...... I liked the deepslate wall and froglight street lamps. They look a lot like the ones we have here in parks and plazas - they make me think of pedestrian only streets and cosy outdoor vibes. Sure Stress' design with the hanging lantern is cute too, but it's more fantasy-medieval imo, and since the houses already have hanging lanterns incorporated in their facades it makes things look more cluttered without adding variation. Sometimes simpler IS better.

    @akaittou@akaittou7 күн бұрын
  • I suggest, to make the terrain look more manmade and concrete, never use one block of stone. Make drops and edges 2 blocks high at minimum, it feels counterintuitive for movement but a beacon fixes that and the overall look is better. You're already doing it a bit on the way up from the container.

  • I think the road may look better if the looks aren't just random, but more as a gradient. So that the middle of the lanes (if cars are on the road) is used more, and the sides are used less. But otherwise, I really liked the houses (facades)
