  • The original source of inspiration and meaning behind the song and video is irrelevant: we can only interpret it from our own point of view. In my opinion, it's about facing your demons and whatever is chasing you. Nobody walks through this life without suffering the slings and arrows that test our resolve as human beings.

    • Mr. Avacado Man the best part about this whole video is just how much they show about each character in this with such little time. They make them seem more realistic in a weird sense. Granted that girl would totally have a sore bum or none.

    • I think the wolf was supposed to be symbolic of certain vices or addictions and the difficulty of escaping them, hence it attacking when the guy got a drink, implying that he might be an alcoholic, or the girl being addicted to smoking. "I can feel how your flesh is crying out for more." Not sure about the first guy though... No helmet? Edit: Wait, I think I've got it, 2:58 Anger issues!

  • Ik everyone under the sun has talked about the symbolism of addiction with each character but I really enjoy how each character reacts to the wolf and the details you can derive from their reactions. how the glasses guy who a lot of people think he's an alcoholic but I don't think people ever really say that the coin he has is likely a sobriety chip, the way he examines it and hands it away after getting that drink makes it feel very much like it is him falling back into the addiction rather than it being a constant, and his reaction to the wolf reflects that as he runs out of fear of his addiction returning. the girl initially reacts with some fight, but after seeing it has no effect resorts to running, which could give the idea that she's tried to quit before and failed, ultimately choosing to run from the problem rather than stand ground and face it. even though we don't really see the reaction of the biker (probably because with his addiction theorized to be thrill seeking and speeding it's likely the wolf just showed up while he was riding and he saw it) what you can see is how determined to outrun the problem and when finally has to confront the wolves he is visibly teared up over it but ultimately chooses to stand his ground. just love the personality of each character shining through and giving a insight as to not only their addictions but their willingness to overcome them

    • Thank you for mentioning sobriety chips. That scene reminds me of something from when I was little. I used to live in a city that had a sleezy bar where people who were backsliding from recovery could come in and give the bartender a sobriety chip for a free drink. The fucking rat bastard owner would even nail some of them to the wall like a trophy. Thankfully the bar owner was caught breaking several serious laws including trafficking Cocaine and was forcibly shut down and arrested.

  • Has anyone else noticed in the beginning, only a single wolf was chasing the guy on the motorcycle, but when we see him again later, a lot more are chasing him. And then, at the end, there's a whole horde behind them. Almost like it's saying that running from your problems instead of facing them only creates new problems and makes things worse in the long run.

    @tracylister1337@tracylister13372 күн бұрын
  • Honestly, the attention to detail in this video amazes me. I've rewatched this video more times than I can count, and here's a few things I personally noticed after my rewatches: - The zoom-in to the wolf's eye at 2:10 represents an insider look into the struggles the 3 main characters face and how each of their respective addiction takes hold of them. A notable example is how the man with the glasses curls up into a ball as he clutches his head. Because of his polygon-like character model, he ends up resembling the cubes of alcohol that swirl around him, showing how he has become one with his addiction (and how the alcohol/mental turmoil is messing with his brain). - Another cool example of the "addiction" motif is the girl with the cigarette. There is special emphasis on the cig being lit, hinting at the fact it's her personal coping mechanism for whatever issue she's dealing with. We see that it's also taken hold of her, though. At 1:32, we see the wolf coming from out of the shadows. But at 1:34, when the girl looks up, all we see is the cigarette smoke right where the wolf was positioned, which is metaphorical for how the wolf is her smoking addiction incarnate and that they are both one-in-the-same. - The use of black and white goes a long way for the thematic of "the only way to solve your problems is to confront them directly". Throughout the video up until the very end, every shadow is perfectly animated to either exist alongside a character, be next to them, or be behind them as if it's following them. There are so many examples of this throughout the video, but my personal favorite is how the motorcycle man's relationship with the shadows progresses over time. When he goes through tunnels with shadows casting over him multiple times, it's metaphorical for how he's been through multiple lapses of struggle (I'm guessing mental health) and has spent his life running away from his problems alone. However, by the end of the video when he finally has friends around him who can empathize with his struggles, we see a fire (representative of his newfound confidence within himself) burning behind him, casting his own shadow in FRONT of him for the first and only time. He then actively charges in THE DIRECTION OF his shadow, finally showcasing how he's built up the courage and intent to face his problems head-on. I thought this particularly was a REALLY cool detail. Kudos to RUDO Co. and SIAMES for making this artistic masterpiece. It's so much fun to analyze and you notice a new detail with almost every rewatch. EDIT: After posting this I noticed another neat thing, which is that when the girl smashes the skateboard across the wolf's face, the wolf is startled for a bit and doesn't immediately chase after the girl. This is possibly analogous to how your hobbies can distract you from your addictions and mental turmoil, but it's not enough to keep them at bay forever.

    • There's a really interesting little touch when the girl hits the wolf with the skateboard. When it connects, the wolf's body distorts from the strike and then snaps back and chases her. That little distortion could symbolize a small, temporary attempt to fight against her addiction or how she realizes how destructive her habits are before falling back into addiction. I dunno, maybe I'm overanalyzing a really nicely animated music vider😅

    • Another point that sticks out to me from this one... only in the very end does the shadow actually fall on the character. Before that, the characters move through shadowed spaces and remain fully lit. In the end, the shadow actually falls over the face of the first character. Might be a blunt metaphor, but I can appreciate a literal 'facing your darkness' when I see one.

  • My theory is that the third character is dealing with his own problems (he is on the highway, the bike could represent that he is doing well on his own problems because wolves can't caught him) but then he find people that need help too so he stops and help that person(first the girl and the crash the bike to the wolf that is with the other guy) but when everything seems lost or bad, he gets himself stronger so he can deal with it even if it seems impossible.

    @Ixckar@Ixckar4 жыл бұрын
    • I actually hadn't thought of the first part being that. So basically the guy on the motorcycle is doing well represented by him not being caught by the wolves. Then we have the second guy which, by the looks of it, only has one coin (doesn't have a lot of money) and is addicted to drinking since when he looks into the cup, his addiction jumps out of it and chases after him. While running away he seems to escape only to be greeted again by his problem, reminding him that he can't run away from it. Now the girl: she seems to be ok until she starts smoking a cigarette which makes the wolf appear from the shadows as she feeds her addiction. She notices that and tries to run away from her problem and while doing this comes across the first guy which is able to deal with his own problems (although, by the looks of it, keep stacking up due to the increased number of wolves after him). He saves her from her problems and both are fine until they come across the other guy. He loses himself and both him and the girl are caught up by their problems. Not being able to run away anymore, as pointed out by you, he takes the matters into his hands by bettering himself and finally confronts his own problems.

  • See, i half-disagree with the people saying that the girl breaking her skateboard over the wolf is a symbol of her fighting back. I see it more as a symbol of addiction taking everything, even what one loves to do. In her desperate swing, fueled by the fear that the wolf was there, she destroyed a healthy way to destress in outdoor activity and also a passion of hers. Skating seems very important to her, and the destruction of the skateboard could mean loss as much as it means fighting.

  • Many people have probably already said this, but I think that the wolves aren't even real. They are simply the people's problems fromes into a physical manifestation. Everybody tries to run away from their problems, one at a time, but as the wolves become an army, it symbolizes that the problems are multiplying, that running away from them isn't gonna solve them, but just make them worse. The finale also symbolizes them confronting their problems, the man getting up, screaming as he runs towards the wolves. The lyrics sound like they come from the enemy's perspective. "cuz you can run but you can't hide, I'm gonna make you mine!" is basically saying that the problems are slowly taking a toll on them with each passing second. The lyrics "I'm out of my head, of my heart, of my mind!" emphasizes that even more. Even the fact that nobody else notices that shows that it is happening only in their minds.

  • I think that the fact that the video does not show us if they defeated the wolves is what really gives the message. This video is not a promise of "face your problems, and you will defeat them" but instead an advice that we all should try to face our problems even though we don't actually know if we will succeed by doing so. But, as everyone in the comments has said, we should help one another with our problems in order to truly be able to face them. Note that the girl at the start tried to hit her wolf, but failed and just ran away. They only were able to fight them when they were together, showing that being with other people makes your problems easier to handle.

    • +FantasticMrBox It's about people trying to escape from their addictions. Let's talk about the video first: the second man in order of appearance and the girl with the skateboard are pretty much in the same situation: they both calmly go to a certain place to stop and have a drink/smoke a bit, and they both do that with a certain calmness that suggests that it's quite an usual action for them. As soon as they start drinking/smoking, though, a demonish red-eyed wolf appears (in the case of the man, it directly pops out of the drink, meaning it's the same thing as it) and starts chasing them. The wolf represents an addiction, and it eventually reveals itself as an horrible crawling monster that chases its victim relentlessly. I think they chose a wolf for all of that because in symbologism it's often associated with the role of guide and protector, a figure to which you entrust yourself in your life, in your journey. Many people often start drinking and smoking exaggerately after something terrible happens to them, so in a way they basically entrust themselves to these new-found addictions (which become some sort of bad guide for these people, hence why the wolves are all devilish-looking and are trying to kill them). The biker is another man who's trying to escape from his addiction in the beginning of the video, but towards the end we see that he has fought his, and manages to save the man and the girl by fighting their wolves, too. The biker represents someone who had an addiction and managed to fought it, and is now going out of his way to save people who are in the same situation. I know there has to be some kind of meaning behind the black cat who arches his back (on the man's coin and in the girl's videogame), but I can't find anything about it. Maybe it just means that something's bad is going to happen, but its arched back makes me think that it's related to another symbologism I don't know about (or maybe it's just SIAMÉS's logo). The lyrics are pretty straightforward, they are meant to be interpreted as the addiction (the singing voice) talking directly to the addicted ("'cause you can run but you can't hide / I'm gonna make you mine", "'cause I can feel how your flash now is crying out for more"). The message here is that fighting your addiction like the biker did leds to better results than just running and running away from it, because by doing the latter the desire to fall for it might still kick in, and you will eventually get tired of running, while the wolf never will.

  • The destruction of the bike when taking care of the other persons problem could be symbolic of how he's giving up his easy life while attempting to help this guy. Helping others isn't easy and when he does help the other man from his wolf, his problems, it makes him vulnerable as well. This could also be shown by how he had the other girl jump on, he's taking on her burdens to try and help her *escape* (big difference) alongside him. By committing this sacrifice he no longer escapes his problems while helping others, by helping others he now has to learn how to fight his own problems.

  • What I notice is that it seems seems that the song can be interpreted as them runing from their depression as the first guy was in a bar when he first noticed the wolf in a glass of presumably alcohol that he was drinking then it pans to the next person who is writing a skateboard seemingly happy and cheerful but then they stopped in a dark alley to smoke a cigarette and play a game then at the start of the person who is driving his motorcycle most people drive to clear their minds but in the long run it's just another way of running and so when it pans back to him the second time there are more because he's only created more problems for himself but I think it's more significant of the ending because he finally steps up for all of them and then it fades to Black signifying that maybe he stood up to his problems and succeeded because you know has people who are going through something similar to help back him up and in the end they can support each other and have a actual healthy group to cope properly with whatever is alien them

I do like jockslap explanation but i see the problem in the wolves themselves. They are fictional, so fighting them shouldn't be dangerous. You would be fighting against your addiction, not a fictional character in a book.

  • In all fairness to the motorcycle guy, sometimes running is a smart move if the problem is legit overwhelming. There were likely the same number of wolves at the start of his journey, who's to say they didn't become tired from his efforts? His tactical retreat, using an adaptive coping mechanism (motorcycle) gave him time to find friends and face the wolves together. He was even able to use his mechanism to eliminate somebody else's wolf, leaving that person free to help him in return. Motorcycle guy was clearly never a coward, as he risked his life to save the girl and glasses guy without hesitation. Rather, he had a strategy that worked for a time, which he had to give up on once he realized that there were other people in his life that also needed help. This gave him the courage and strength needed to face his wolves head-on. There's a middle ground between always running and always fighting. There's no shame in running for a time, as long as you retain a value system and set of personal beliefs that will compel you to eventually take up arms and fight again.

I was ready to fight to the death but I asked them what the f they wanted and they where just looking for loot. They f'ed off after I handed over my cash. Now I'm running. What am I supposed to do. Can't go back there again. They threatened to kill me if the cops got involved but I was already on the phone with them as they made that threat. Can't fight them. Sometimes running is the only option you have.

  • This reminds me of the Native American story about how everyone has two wolves inside, eternally fighting. One is all things good - hope, love, faith, generosity, kindness, empathy, and patience. The other is of evil - hate, jealousy, rage, sorrow, selfishness, and guilt. The wolf that wins is the one you feed. When you allow addiction to control your life in an attempt to drown out guilt or loneliness, when you give into anger or jealousy...you feed that evil wolf inside and let it take control. It is essential to have balance and not let the darker side completely consume you. It will always be there, but the good wolf must be fed to hold back the evil wolf.

  • From what I gather, it seems like this song is about facing your vices, or problems. We instinctively drown our sorrows in a variety of ways, be it drinking, smoking, driving, gaming, ect. Every time we choose to face away from the problem, the wolf gets stronger, and ultimately harder to escape which is one of the hardest truths of addiction.
