Lyrics:
Everyone makes mistakes
I've had more than my share
But it's ok 'cause I'm gonna repair it
inRead invented by Teads
They say there are no retakes
But I just don't agree, no, this show
Is of my own making
Take it back to the start
I've had a change of heart
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better
I know there's things to change
The path that I could choose is loose and
I must find a new one
Our fates are not yet written
I will take the warning, choose a
Way that's less destructive
Yeah, I know
we look bad
But we have only seen one path
Can't you see?
We are free
To choose our destiny
And be the way we want to be
A second chance, you just need to believe
Believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe, believe...
Take back to the start
I've had a change of heart
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better
I know we can make it better than it ever was
I know we can make it better

  • OK, so this song isn't like what you think... no, it's not Freddy Fazbear, it's actually darker. This song is based on a book called "I Want My Hat Back" (not the DR version)! "I Want My Hat Back" is where a bear has lost his hat and asks if anyone has seen it. He comes across a rabbit with a hat (presumably the bear's hat). He asks the rabbit if he has seen a hat. The rabbit says something along the lines of "No I have not seen your hat, I would not take a hat, don't ask me any more questions." The bear doesn't ask anymore. so the bear is sad because he lost his hat. THEN he realizes that the rabbit has stolen his hat, he beats on the rabbit and eats him. At the end a squirrel says "Have you seen a rabbit with a hat around?" the bear says something along the lines of "No I have not seen a rabbit, I would not EAT a rabbit, don't ask me any more questions." referring to that he ate the rabbit to get his hat back. In this song at the end at the town part, we see signs saying "WE DEMAND JUSTICE" with a picture of a rabbit at the bottom. The bear feels guilty for what he did, so he turns himself in. Sad ain't it?

  • “The line everyone makes mistakes” makes me believe he did not intend to kill the bunny but home saying “it’s ok cause I’m going to repair it” is him realizing that he can’t leave this to heal he needs to give closure by turning himself in to the authorities this is inthe first few kind of the song amazing

    • Also he hold a red flower at surface level it is him hold a flower of his victim but deeper level could be that the red flower is symbolic about the blood on his hand him understanding that the blood on your hands can’t be washed of him holding everywhere could mean that and the pile a red flowers could be how he feels about the situation feeling like he could have done something different heck the lyric playing while passing it is “choose a way less destructive” is symbolic of that you my call me crazy for typing a whole paragraph about a song but my defense is anyways write what you think

  • When this song came out I was at my lowest point in life, just a dumb teen wrapping myself into dumber mistakes, letting people judge me for who I was and taking it all for granted. This song came out and at first I rejected it, made me feel even worse than I already was and cried myself to sleep, flooding horrible memories of what my life was before it went all wrong. Now, listening to it now, after never wanting it to hear it again, I’ve never been happier to listen to it, cause it was meant for me, for what my life is now, how I surpassed everything thrown at me.

  • About 5 months ago, I lost someone close. It wasn't cinematic, and it wasn't drawn out when it first hit; a few days after we had a bad argument, I reached out and not even moment later, I was just blocked. And it was my fault. There was so much left unanswered, things they had brought up that I had no idea they were keeping from me. It all but fed whatever insecurities I had been feeling at the time, and I just lost it. I messaged them elsewhere and lashed out the most disgusting things I could, just so I could get them to feel what I was going through. I crossed lines to which I fully knew would hurt them internally. I could've walked away, and respected their boundaries, but then there's this. A moment in time which still disgusts me beyond belief. I genuinely don't care if what the things they had done were true, I just want them to be happy. Hearing this song again a few years later all but brings me back to that exact same moment in time. I always found it strange how I always cried whenever this song played, especially after hearing about the original story between the bear and the rabbit. But this time, I felt a shred of hope after hearing it again. For, it's the thought of doing whatever I can to make things just a little bit better. I haven't tried reaching out for some time, and got past this to an extent, however, the guilt is something that I can't fully shake off, and that's fine. As redundant as it sounds, seeing this animated flipnote bear turn himself in, still bearing that same look of disbelief from the beginning, was one of the best portrayals of redemption. Doing the things that you can't stand to be better, and not just for yourself. Even in the end, no matter what you do, it may not even change anything, yet, you at least tried to do something right. It's something I relate to all too well; Not being able to see or them ever again, not being able to hear them laugh or cry with me, and not being able to just give them a hug for one last time. Their voice was so sweet to listen too, I almost forgot how much it all meant. I know you won't see this but, wherever you are, I'm so sorry. I hope you're okay. When someone tells you they want you to have the best life you could ever have after being through all of that, please listen and leave them alone.

  • Am I the only who realised that at the end of the song, the two inmates next to the bear, you can figure out what crimes they committed as well. The cat on the left is shown at the start on a sign saying Mom Dad and lil' Jimmy. On the bench next to that you can only see Jimmy, whose more grown up and another nameless cat with a red flower. Where are the Mom and Dad? I think what happened was since Jimmy is white and brown instead of White and black like the other cat, the Mother cheated on the father and then after having a second son which The black cat i the father of i will assume, so he realises and maybe kills the Mom and then turns himself in, while holding a blue flower. The croc on the left is easier to figure out as in the swamp segment there's a lily pad full of red flowers, most likely the grave of a lot of frogs that were dancing before. What else lives in a swamp? That's right a Crocodile. So i think the Crock killed the frogs felt bad and turned himself in.

  • Coming back to the song, here's my theory on the video and it's meanings and such: Okay so obviously the bear killed a rabbit, feels guilty and remorseful of it and turns himself in. What makes this more interesting in a sense is the flowers and their meanings. I think the red flower either symbolises murder or loss of innocence and the stories change depending on either interpretation. The cats for example: If the red flower means Loss of Innocence then the blue flowers surrounding the house may mean abuse. If it means murder then the child may have caused the death of another person and it got pinned on the father or the father took the legal responsibility for the incident with blue representing innocence. The frogs and alligator: If it's LoS then... honestly it's hard to tell, maybe the frogs actually did something bad maybe it's just from them being killed (being murdered would cause you to lose innocence). The orange flower the croc is holding could mean genocide or something similar. Or maybe the frogs did something and it actually means revenge. If it's murder then it follows pretty much the same thought pattern as above. The bear and the rabbit. If it's LoS then the rabbit may have done something to provoke the bear into killing them, it already had a red flower before so maybe they weren't as innocent as they appeared, who knows? That would of course lead the bear into gaining his own red flower as a result. If it's murder then... why did the rabbit have one beforehand? But perhaps following the logic of the kid cat, killing someone by accident can still be considered murder. The scene of the bear spinning around looking at pictures could have two meanings depending on if the pictures are black and white or not. He could be looking back at himself when he was innocent, maybe he's remembering someone else that he either lost or is going to lose after going to prison. All in all, pretty confusing, the visuals can be seen in a ton of different ways. Personally I think it's the LoS but all of these have holes so idk man.

  • Heres my say on this whole theory thing going on. So the bear killed the rabbit and ran away, taking a flower the rabbit was holding He then woke up from sleep one day and went to turn himself in. He passes a house where a cat was recently arrested for abusing his family. He then goes to the graveyard to pay his respects to his victim. He keeps on going to the town to turn himself in. He passes the swamps, where recently a frog genocide went on. As he enters the town, he has flashbacks when he was a young happy innocent child, and how much of a monster he has become. As he nears the station, people(most likely the rabbits friends) look out the window and see the flower their friend had liked so much, and they now know he is the killer. The bear was turned in, and was put in prison for life. To his right cell was the frog mass murderer(the crocodile) And to his left the abusive cat. And at last, the bear's guilt was cured, and he crawled into a ball in his cell, waiting for Death to come.

Be free to try and think of other things to comment/things that don't make sense in my theory. I may have made some mistakes. Feel free to correct them. (BUT DO NOT CORRECT GRAMMAR. • Here is what I think happened: the bear’s hat was stolen and he found out that the rabbit stole it, so he killed it. Then he went to sleep, just to wake up feeling guilty, and then he realized that he committed a crime. So he decided to turn hinself into the police. He past a house were a cat abusing its loved ones was arrested. He starting feeling more guilty as he reached the flowers because of the flower in his hand.then he went to the graveyard so he could pay his respects. He realized that the flower they always held was missing, but he didn’t put it near the grave because he felt he didn’t deserve to. Then he made his way to the forest where a bird asked him what was wrong, but he said he was fine. The bird kept following him in the forest as it began to rain. He made it to the pond, where a crocodile recently committed frog genocide. He made it to the town, and as he was at the town, he remembered himself just being an innocent child, but now a murder. Then he was at the neighborhood where the rabbits friends looked at the flower, and realized that it was the one that their beloved friend held most, so they knew he was the killer. Then he made it to the police station, where he was sentenced to to prison. Then he saw the crocodile who committed frog genocide and the abusive cat, holding flowers like they are guilty too, like him. But he put that thought aside and went to sleep, proving that he could repair his mistake in a way. Let me know what you think!

  • This is very likely based on the book 'I Want My Hat Back' In that, a bear can't find his hat and asks around with other animals, searching for his hat. One of them is a rabbit, who is rather rude and lies about not having his hat. Later on, the bear realises that it was the rabbit who stole it, goes back, and is implied to have killed and/or eaten the rabbit, taking his hat back. A squirrel then asks him if he's seen the rabbit, with the bear lying in the same manner as the rabbit did. In this, it's implied the bear feels guilty about the rabbit's death now and goes to turn himself in. Only difference is that the hat is red and pointy, in this it’s a black top hat.

  • Someone probably explained the story behind the video but I’m just going to pinpoint really good details here in case anyone missed, and I’ll state my own view on what happened in the video. 0:04 I assume this dog collapsed halfway on his walk to his wanted destination. There’s a scar on his head but we don’t know how it happened. 0:14 He regained consciousness and continued his journey, nice symbolic cutscene of striving and continuation for character development 0:15 Snow was falling heavily, the dog’s eyes squinted and looked down at the flower, basically an act of remorse and, to me, there might also be frustration in him. 0:26 The snow was reduced in this scene. The background consists of a house and a text board “here live happily mom dad and lil’ Jimmy”, a few seconds later you see Jimmy (the small one holding a red flower, same as the dog’s) and possibly their parent who was sitting next with. This may imply that the dog possibly lost his loved one…. or does it? If the song was extended, I’d like to imagine that the dog would pass the board slowly as he’d look at what it says. Since his walking steps syncs with the music, I think the animation is intended to have that constant rhythm throughout the music and honestly this is still a great pattern of storytelling in the animation. 0:37 DAISY FIELD. The dog then walked through a field of possibly… yellow daisies? The color represents joy and cheerfulness, along with the blue shades of the sky. In contrast, the dog still held remorse but this time his eyes were more opened throughout the rest of the video. 0:47 The joy in the background we saw previously transitioned into a literal graveyard that now fit the dog’s emotions, foreshadowing the truth of his actions. It feels like all joy must come to an end, the visual transition from bright yellow to almost entirely gray makes the scene so sudden and heartbreaking. 0:58 THE FOREST. I don’t think there’s much to say in this one because the background color choices seem to tell me that we are taking a break from all the negativity. There is now a bird flying around him, all bouncy and funny to partly distract viewers from, again, the negativity implied in the video. 1:09 Rain starts. Personally I think it’s a way of representing life where sadness and happiness alternate with each other constantly and there’s no avoiding to that. It’s because the forest scene is animated during the instrumental part of the song, part where we only observe and listen to the music without hearing the vocals, it adds up the implement of the story, to me at least. The bird was gradually moving out of screen, goodbye little buddy 🦆 1:21 SWAMP. A lot of frogs dancing and beautiful pattern of lotuses. 1:31 Unlike the decent transition of the daisy scene, this one just cuts to where frogs disappeared and only lotus petals were seen on water surface. Let’s note that the 3 scenes we saw, the daisy field, the forest, and now the swamp, have the same mood transition from bright color vibes and dancing patterns to absolute sadness and emptiness. I didn’t realize until now that I could start viewing the video differently. My theory is that every fun background shown in the video shows the dog’s childhood or memories before the incident. Now that when he got older, things changed and the truth always hurts. I also realized that the said mood transitions may imply that everywhere you go, grief is inevitable and we learn to accept it as we get older. 1:36 The fact that there was only one bunch of red flowers in the middle of the swamp is deliberate. Flowers have been known for acting as an expression of love, sympathy and respect to the lost loved ones. The frogs all gone and the petals left on water could imply something horrible happened to the area and creatures might’ve left for the better. 1:42 Sun was setting, the bridge represents admirable progress where one had faced every trouble to get through. You are meeting the other side closer to the goal and you’re glad to have achieved it so far. The journey was long and tough, and your mind managed to pull it all through. 1:53 Moon was rising, the camera zoomed in the dog as he began to memorize his childhood. All memories might’ve happened in this very town he used to live in. He was innocent, pure and loving. He did not have a hat back then. 2:26 The truth was revealing. The posters in the background showed a rabbit holding a red flower with texts “WE DEMAND THE KILLER TO COME FORWARD / WE DEMAND JUSTICE”. What the dog had been doing was coming forward to where it all started during midnight as to not disturb people or be seen publicly. The ones behind those window frames were either watching or shocked to see the suspect coming back to return himself in. 2:37 The people were convinced the dog killed the rabbit (by seeing their eyes turning angry). Red flowers were placed beneath the poster shows how much the rabbit liked the flower and the dog was holding one. 2:43 And there shows the police station sign. CONCLUSION: The first seconds of the video foreshadowed the upcoming truth about the dog. He might’ve ran away from crime and lived his life far from his original home. The family’s house showed him what is was like to lose a family member after he killed the rabbit and he deeply regretted that. The graveyard scene had the same impact on him, hinting viewers that someone died and probably the dog knew better. The swamp could be where the incident happened, with red flowers piled up and disappearance of liveliness, it takes a darker turn if you think the dog drowned the rabbit there. The dog’s scar could be from their physical fight that let to one pushing another down the deep waters and leaving them there (I know from research that rabbits can swim but there are also ones that will suffer medical problems from water). The dog went to the police station and faced his own consequences as to fix and change himself rather than ran away with the same remorse that lingered everyday. 3:10 Turns out, he wasn’t the only one who did the same crime.

  • If you'll notice, the swamp starts with a large number of flowers, lily pads, and frogs. The scene then cuts to a different area of the same swamp, but with scattered petals everywhere and no lily pads except for one with a huge amount of flowers stacked in a pile. At the very end you can see the crocodile holding a pink flower in the cell. He murdered (presumably ate) all the frogs in that section of the swamp.

  • The thing that really hits me is 2:04. The bear spinning around, seeing all his past memories and experiences, knowing he'll never go back to his old innocence again because of what he did is so sad. The song also keeps repeating "Believe", the word running through his head since he can make it better. He can redeem himself. Honestly every time I watch this song, I'm closer and closer to tearing up, and, just so you know, I'm not a person that cries. This song is just that effective through it's lyrics, visuals, and overall charm/sadness. It's also a bop, can't overlook that. Edit: This had no reason to get so popular.

  • If somebody else commented what I’m about to say, sorry, I don’t mean to copy ónò I have a theory that this is about a book that I used to own called I Want My Hat Back. This is a book about a bear, who had a hat, but it was stolen. The bear is very polite, asking everyone if they had seen his hat. One of the animals he asked was a little white rabbit sitting in a patch of grass. Remember this. The rabbit was wearing the bear’s hat, but denied it, to keep the story moving along probably. At the end, the bear gives up, and flops down. A deer finds him, and asks him what his hat looks like. “It’s red, and pointy...” And then there is a two-page illustration tinted red of the bear. I think this is where he just *snaps*. He runs past all of the other animals to the rabbit. They have a staring contest (not really but they do squint at eachother), and then there is a picture of the bear sitting in the patch of grass. A squirrel comes up to him asking if he had seen the rabbit, but the bear denies it. I think that this video takes place a few months after this incident. The police have noticed the rabbit is missing, and the bear, filled with guilt, goes to the police station to own up.
