  • I like that when the little sibling 'defeated' the monsters, it was just by playing with them. The older sibling clearly designed them to be fought, and their first instinct was to use the sword in defense. But when the little kid took over, it became a game again, which reminded the older sibling that they were still allowed to be childish sometimes, and didn't need to be so closed off. In the end, the older sibling dropped their defensive attitude, the sword, in favor of the toy. Amazing video as always, I love seeing the stories you come up with!!

  • I personally interpret this video as two siblings who come from a "broken home" or a tough situation at home where the older sister has taken a carer role for the younger, the way the younger doesn't want to go home and reacts so heavily + the lyrics really seems to make it feel that way , but the older one brings the spark of joy and makes it ok for her. They are not alone, they have eachother. There is the meaning :)

    @commonquail4675@commonquail46752 жыл бұрын
    • I think the younger sibling brings that same joy to their sister as well. Her finally reaching for her own toy felt like a moment of accepting that it was okay to let her guard down and just spend awhile playing, instead of constantly being on guard trying to handle things way too seriously.

    • I would add to that and also say that because of that decision, the older sister has to become more of an "adult" and sees the playtime session as less of a "I'm doing something with my sibling" and more "I'm doing something FOR my sibling". All of the obstacles that they go through prior to the giant robot the older sister destroys quickly as to get it over with, while the younger sibling (and their action figure) get around obstacles using generally more pacifistic means. The younger sibling is showing their sister that they don't always have to act like an adult just because their home life is terrible, that she's still a kid too, and she realizes it when she joins in with the bird. They can rely on each other both with the older sister as a protector but still as close siblings.

  • The implication of a broken home that has no lullaby is heartbreaking. There's always something you can hold on to that makes you not all on your own, but it takes time and effort to get there. Sometimes younger siblings can be both a burden (you need to take care of them and protect them because no one else does in the family) and also be a miracle because in their childish worldview there is no evil, no such thing as having no home, they trust you and want to have fun with you and that brings hope. I didn't have a relationship like that in my life, but I feel it strongly all the same.

    • The older is combative with the world, putting up a front that the only way to progress is by individual strength and fighting, due to the animosity they've felt within the world. The younger child keeps a more positive outlook, leveraging relationships (the mecha man action figure), looking towards the positive to progress home. The older is surprised at it's effectiveness, and remembers that there was once a time when she had a similar outlook. Paired with a sick drum riff, she leverages belief in others rather than individual strength by showing her stuffed animal, rather than fighting, to get by.

  • Like every Siames video, there is meaning! I interpret this as the girl shouldering all the responsibilities on herself as she views herself as her brothers protector. At one point, they played together like the kids they were. Him with his action figure, her with her doll. Eventually she stopped playing with him and took things more serious as said before. So when the little boy runs away, she goes to bring him back. The boy wants his sister to play with him as they venture home, they envision challenges along the way which are actually simple games represented by the hopscotch. When the bag is spilled, the girl shoves her doll back in its bag because she’s “moved past it” as the adventure continues she is able to experience the same wonder when she pulls it out to get past the last monster. It’s her metaphorically letting herself be a kid again and have fun with her brother like she use to. Little bonus* When the action figure grows in size, I think he could represent their father, maybe him not being around anymore. (Since this song is about broken homes) We see him hoist the boy on his shoulders like a dad would do his son

    @rockstar2013100@rockstar20131002 жыл бұрын
    • Copied from my other comment, here is my interpretation of the song - Honestly the lyrics paired with the animation makes it sound like the song is about child neglect or the POV from children of a family that doesn’t get along too well, it’s actually quite a sad song. Building on this further, it’s possible that the monsters they’re fighting are the experiences they’ve had in that home, yet they don’t quite understand them, so it’s not represented as something really sinister and evil, yet they still know that it was a bad experience, so they’re still monsters. And the use of the toys and the fun they have together is like their protection against this life for them at home. I only say this because of my own experiences in a family like this, with only me and my brother to help each other move through it, thankfully we’re safe now.

De ahí que la canción termine con " who said you're on your own?"

    @cesarguzmanibanez1967@cesarguzmanibanez19672 жыл бұрын
    • To add to this, as the brother begins to help out, the "Battles" become less aggressive and more whimsical as the little brother shows his sister that not everything has to be a battle. When the little brothers toy comes to life, it goes through everything from deescalation and self-defense (drill punch robot), to negation (Oni), and even making friends from enemies (First giant robot, and the Tik-tak-to bot.) The final monster is when the sister finally realizes that you don't have to fight every fight that comes your way. Sometimes winning a fight means avoiding the fight altogether, and her stuffed ducky shows that it's okay to hold on to some things from your childhood that make you feel safe or protected.

    • Las palabras sobran el mensaje de éste videoclip es muy fuerte, se explica por si solo pero me gustaría aportar. A mí parecer el/la hermanx mayor carga con el peso de cuidar, es por eso que guarda con tanto recelo el pato de peluche, una metáfora de esa inocencia/infancia que lamentablemente se pierde o se debe dejar de lado, se ve forzadx a crecer rápido para resguardar a su hermanx del mundo hostil que hay allí afuera... Es por eso que lucha a capa y espada de manera muy agresiva y feroz... Sin embargo es el/la pequeñx quien a través de su inocencia y ,de alguna manera, "despreocupación" soluciona de otra manera los desafíos y que incluso se amiga con los mismos, y que aquello que en un principio puede causar temor o inseguridad quizá no es tan terrible, tan hostil cómo aparentaba. Hogar no es solamente el espacio físico , son aquellas personas que te cuidan, que te acompañan en el camino... Justamente aquellxs que hacen que el viaje deje de ser hostil... Que despiertan la ternura y abrazan nuestrx niñx interior. Allí donde se puede "ser" es HOGAR. Gracias SIAMES por tantas emociones. Los vi en Vorterix, salte, cante, llore y me sentí muy feliz. Siento que su música es una caricia, que de alguna manera dice "hey, lo que sentís es normal. No estás solx" Simplemente Gracias

  • Man this gives me nostalgia. Days spent creating and hosting games for my sibling and friends on the way home from school. The kids in this new music video for no lullaby seem to be doing something similar. The younger sibling wants to stay out and play so the older sister "begrudgingly" makes up a game of pretend to lead them home. The game is surprisingly imaginative, and it turns out to be because the older one played with their own toy growing up. So they have experience making the real world more exciting with games of pretend. ....or this is all real. That little kid is literally riding a toy that turns into a giant. I think that the older one had to deal with the problems of her parents, she was left alone and didn't fell loved. There was no lullaby for her. But the animation makes me think, that this is changing for her, she isn't alone anymore, she has her brother and wants to make him fell loved and happy. For him there are lullabies.

  • Sometimes the circumstances in life force you to grow up so fast you almost forget what it ever felt like to be a kid. Thanks to her little brother she finally got to feel that childlike feeling again. That's what I think anyway.

    @MarigoldAW@MarigoldAW Жыл бұрын
  • Idk why, but watching this i just started balling. Something about the simple message of just enjoying childhood, and being ok with the fact that you can let yourself go wild in imagination. Having picked up a lot of new hobbies that i was always told wasn't something i'd like cause i wasn't creative. So this song just saying "It's okay to let yourself back into neverland, if only for a little while", just fcking resonated with me. And watching my little brother go from a child full of curiosity to a now near adult, has made me realise just how fast and suddenly our old imaginations get labelled as "childlike". So thanks for another great video Siames, hope you swing by Denmark sometime :D

    • As a teen, I often feel this weird inbetween of "I'm not fully grown yet" and "I better start learning to grow-up" But I have always believed that having a "child-like" attitude and imagination towards life shouldn't be a bad thing. I still love things like cartoons and stuffed animals, and honestly, what's wrong with that? I just wish people would stop trying to pressure others into believing otherwise. Sometimes I think people do it without even realizing they are.

  • I love the message that people who have grown up to stop playing/ having fun make it more about the destination rather than the journey. As if the journey was the boring part that must be ignored in order to get to your destination and complete the task. Children just find themselves to enjoy everytime they can, and a little walk home became an epic journey of a hero. They don't see it as a task, or a walk. They see it as an adventure. Shouldn't we all be amazed by the little things more often, or be able to enjoy them at any level? It just makes me really sad some people feel unable to use their creativity at some point, when It's always been there.

Then we see how she contrasts with her sibling, who's full of imagination and loves to play games that the protagonist acts like she doesn't have time for. Through all the imaginary battles, it shows how the protagonist thinks her sibling is always getting them into trouble and she has to save them from it, but then her sibling shows how they can fight back as well, in a much more effective way. And then the protagonist learns to accept a bit of her childhood again, to embrace the way her sibling fights. Also like how the final monster looks like the night sky. I'm not sure if it was the intention, but it makes me think that the protagonist is "fighting" the night. That despite acting so grown up, they still use their plush to help go to sleep.

  • Ever since I found this song I've been listening to it on repeat. It's a serious comfort song. The emphasis on the younger having a huge imagination, a way to escape the harsh reality of whatever their broken home brings them. The older sibling, forced to be realistic, rolling their eyes and trying to keep the younger grounded. Even in their imaginary world, the older is protecting the younger from the harshness of reality. However, the younger sibling shows ability to take their own battles. The presentation of the older even being protected by the younger is so good. I think my favorite thing is the fact that the older sibling clearly DOES have imagination still. Does want to get away from reality and escape the difficulty and darkness of life. It takes until they're pushed - and reminded of their own special personal item (the duck) - that they also want to be part of that world. As someone with three younger siblings, who was made the caregiver for two of them during my childhood at the ripe old age of 8 years old, I understand the feeling of being responsible. The rolling of eyes at imagination, yet still desperately wanting it, is something I struggle with even now. A beautiful release and animation as always. Thank you siames for your continued wonderful work.

It felt like a way to still feel childish even as I grew older.

    • Honestly the lyrics paired with the animation makes it sound like the song is about child neglect or the POV from children of a family that doesn’t get along too well, it’s actually quite a sad song.

  • for some reason I almost cried watching this. Felt so beatiful to watch the sister first seeing the world around her as hostile, but learning through her little brother how the world can be also seen as fun and embracing through more accepting eyes. First trying to be mature because she thinks she needs to and in the end learning that growing up isn’t about abandoning her inner child even if she has a difficult family relationship and taking care of her brother. That’s what I got from it at least

  • Theory time! I think this mv focuses on the significance of childhood and its necessity when growing up. Throughout the mv, we can see the older sister mustering her own strength to succeed in each trial until her sibling uses his doll to easily surpass them instead. During the last trial, she realizes that her childhood is a fragment of herself that reflects her strength as well which she had been ignoring, and finally uses it. Its honestly relatable bcuz we also tend to push away our past child selves as we grow up, just like she did. But deep down, that child resides and it gives us strength too. Again, props to the animators as this is so well done! And ofc the song is a masterpiece itself ^^

  • Just noticed after watching this again that when the imagination first starts, the older sibling is not only reluctant but the fight is dramatic and combat focused. When the younger sibling starts making up the stories, the scale gets crazy huge but the "fights" are playful and fun and end in peaceful or polite ways.

  • This made me remember all the moments my sister help me and my little brother. She would invent stories and we made them real with our imagination. One day we were detectives trying to catch the murdered, the next day we were running from dinosaurs. Once we tried to make a movie. Having a mother with bipolar disorder it was horrible, she did the best she could to protect us from the depression and maniatic episodes of my mom.

  • I love how different each of the videos have been. "The Wolf" was in black and white with red highlights, "Mr. Fear" had a strong Moebius influence and use of comic book panels in it's cinematography, "Summer Nights" was more grounded, and this one is just adorable. Can't wait to see what the next one will look like

  • Pieces like this mean the world. It’s just me and my little sister, and no foundation at home. Been a huge fan since Mr. Fear and I can say that this new era is so unique and charming. X

  • This song literally making me cry, Thinking of a passed brother that I should have played with more. Sometimes our responsibilities as Older Siblings are more than just being responsible, sometimes 'taking care' means sharing happiness and the wonder of being young.

  • What I got from this: On the road to adulthood, not everything has to be so mundane and serious. Enjoy life to the fullest and don’t abandon that childhood spark inside you. In a world that can be so formal and clean-cut, have fun and don’t lose your creativity and uniqueness.
