Glad(?) to see that MatPat is continuing this tradition of eating his Christmas tree

😂😂
@@Dont_Read_My_Picture I remember the first person who did this, and it was actually funny... Stop. Its not funny anymore.
I'm not mad they stole the idea, I'm mad they didn't have a better idea
True i am too
The only thing we're missing at this point is MatPat trying to cook a Christmas tree with the entirety of his laundry room.
Maybe next year Edit: yeah that's not happening-
Can't wait to see this video out next year!

Public Awareness Announcement: Don't try to eat fake Christmas trees. They aren't trees. They are toxic in most cases. Don't eat plastic trees folks. Thank you for your time. Merry Christmas
Mine is delicious I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Stop spreading misinformation and let kids eat their microplastics & fiberglass 😡
I think the replies weren't expected...
What do you mean? They’re clearly super edible and definitely non toxic, why else do they stay for 50 years perfectly fine and are so shiny like an m&m? You should definitely eat the clearly labeled fake trees.
I burn my fake christmas trees
As someone who is allergic to pine trees, these seasonal videos make me realize that I need to consider my allergy a food allergy now.
That is beautiful
May have to consider my pollen allergy too. Hopefully they don’t try cedar trees next.
Lol, here I am sitting here wondering what they taste like and forgetting that my mom has that same allergy XD guess I'm not making that for family Christmas dinner XD
'ok and do you have any food allergies?' 'pine cones.'
My sister also has a pine allergy. We discovered that when we lived in Georgia.
MatPat prides himself on his Christmas puns. Then his better half absolutely destroys him with “fa-la-la-la-lafel.” 10:07 🤣
Best name for a dish ever!
I think she destroyed us all with that one, the timing was perfect!
i audibly laughed for that one

Gonna miss watching MatPat struggle to find a way to eat his Christmas tree every year

Now Santi is obligated to try to eat MatPat's Christmas tree
Matpat should come back every year for this one as a like special This could also be seen as the end if this series though as they finally figured out how to eat a Christmas tree
10:17 "I quit, I quit" - MatPat, foreshadowing
Thats an expression but you might be true
it hits hard
I was about to say this
I almost cried and laughed at the same time
The lore... THE LOREEEEE!!!!
MatPat is the only person who would watch his family unwrap their christmas gifts, and ask himself "Can you EAT a christmas tree?"
Forreal
He was poor once, so it makes sense
ah yes, Christmas is right around the corner. Presents are being wrapped, cookies being baked for Santa, stockings hung by the chimney with care, and Matpat eating the Christmas tree
😂😂😂
He might die soon
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire~ MatPat nibbling mistletoe~
I love wrapping my parents
Yeah that checks out
I love how Mat keeps putting stuff in his mouth during the process even when he shouldn't, because he's a curious guy! He's got to know and understand! Much to the detriment of his tastebuds
I love that Steph looked at us when Mat ate the pollen like with the addittude of "Seriously".
It would not feel like Christmas without Matt Pat trying to eat his Christmas tree 😂

I'm just imaging a rabid matpat having to be held away from a Christmas tree like that one meme with the dog(?)
10:17 that aged… well? Not well? I’ll miss you matpat:)
Yikes
THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING
Its insane how matt can run FOUR channels at once and still pump out videos every week
I'm starting to worry about MatPat, it's been two weeks since he's posted a video on Food Theory. 😭
He no longer is the sole runner of it, that’s why the theorist team is so big. The theory concept is also technically owned by someone else now, and he has an agreement with the company to keep x people hired for at least y amount of time
That one didn’t age quite so well.
bruh
Oof
Please don't end this tradition - we would all like to see other ways that you can eat a Christmas tree
I feel just like how they steeped pine in cream n such for ice cream, they could to make chocolate pine truffles
Idea: turn the pine needles into powder (see: onion powder, garlic powder) and use it as a seasoning.
Concerned about the pesticide they're consuming though. :(
@@iamthirdytI think it’s a natural tree
Mat will just have to move it into the other theory channel: how to WEAR a christmas tree next year.. but that's just a theory.... a STYLE theory!
If I had a nickel for every time MatPat tried to eat a Christmas Tree, I'd have three nickels.
Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened thrice.

Fantastic tree puns
the tree puns just get better and better
Let curiosity take root in your heart, people.
Treemendous puns indeed

Usually the Theorist puns make me smile at best, or shake my head at worst, but Steph's "Fa la la la lafel" actually made me laugh.
Truly shows who should be left to making the puns on this show. 👀 kidding, love ya matpat!

I never thought that one of my Christmas traditions would be watching a man trying to eat a Christmas tree but here we are.
It has been a strange journey.
me neither.
Well, we are already on the ride the first time we glance at his video, so here we are.
Watching MatPat and Steph interact on camera is a bigger “treet” than the icetreem. It’s always so fun to watch them together
Yeah. They make a good treem. I’m so glad they’ve branched out. I mean, they’re treely blooming. I just wish they wood do something with Chris Pine.
I realy hope that this christmas team theorist is going to continue the tree eating tradition
Matt, I'm actually still surprised that Steph hasn't ended you for pulling that sawdust-cookie stunt on her. I do still love seeing you try to eat your freaking christmas tree. And it looks like it goes better at least. Though nearly everything is better than the first two tries you had there. LOL, Matt start listening to Steph every once in a while... especially when she tells you not to eat something. "It's a Falalalalafel!" Pffft, I LOVE it. xD Oh, yeah, Milk and stuff are usually fine as long as it tastes fine.
Okay, I know we all shake our heads on the puns at times, but Stephanie just crushed it with the "Fa-la-la-la-lafel". She saw it, she went for it and she took no prisoners - and we should be thanking her for it.
i fa-la-la-la-laughed hard at that one
The hol8day falafel
Honestly, you've reached the point where I would expect to see all of these in high-end restaurants
Seasonal food truck, anyone?
I’m so glad he did this again before he retires! Hopefully Santi continues the tradition.
Food theory idea: What's the best thing to eat or drink to get rid of a fever or a cold? I've heard a lot of things about warm citrine drinks and chicken broth, but what's the science behind it. Just want this to fever to leave me alone.
This episode's "dishes" would make for a weird craving... Imagine pregnancy cravings be like "a deep fried Christmas tree would be amazing right now!"
XD
I just love Stephanie's little "Ohh..." at MatPat trying to nom on the little rock-hard pinecone. [Edit] Steph is just absolutely fantastic this whole episode.
I feel like her off-the-cuff "Fa-la-la-la-lafel" beat out all of MatPat's carefully crafted puns.
The way she puts up with some of the torture of matpat is fun
We usually just cut off all the branches and leave the wood to dry. The branches are put in the garden to protect the flowers from the cold. By next Christmas it's dry enough to burn it with the other fire wood.
The last time matpat will eat his own tree.
MATPAT: Feeds his wife cookies, giggles. It's literally sawdust. STEPH: What why? Me watching: so did she know getting together with MatPat would lead to eating tree shaped cookies made from the literal tree. How many random things has mat done for the name of science and theory. Do we want to know?
Probably not
IKR?! 😂
makes me wonder why Ollie is REALLY here
Watching MatPat slowly decend into insanity is my Christmas present this year
Omg so true😂😂😂
I can only imagine what Mat and Steph's neighbors think of them... "Oh yeah, our quirky neighbor family who eats their christmas tree every year."
4:08 cute almost exactly the way oilie did it 🤣
I love these episodes where it's just Steph and Matt in the kitchen. The chemistry is just
Her wanting to smack him with for the puns, only to hit back with one later
I mean, they're married, and Steph has a Bachelor's degree in chemistry and a Master's in pharmacology, so the gods would be very upset if they didn't have chemistry 😁
This has become a holiday tradition now, and I’m all for it!!!
yess

10:11 I LAUGHED SO HARD THAT WAS GREAT- Mat deserved that after all the bad tree puns
Fun milk fact: it is really hard for milk to expire so long as it is kept. Even if it is discolored, smelling, and tasting bad, it is still edible, if you're brave enough. Adam Conover from Adam Ruins Everything explains it a lot better than I, so go find the clip if you wanna know more.
Next year I want to see Theorist actually buy the right kind of Christmas tree and then make this food from it to tell us DEFINITIVELY how much food you can make from your Christmas tree and whether it would be reasonable to eat it all before it expires
That is my biggest concern. How much actual tree is used to produce the "ingredients" in a tree-course meal? When I google it, I'm seeing that 6% of the log's volume becomes sawdust at a sawmill, so we'd be dealing with 3 pounds of sawdust from a 50-lb tree. That leaves 47 pounds of needles, branches, and trunk to cook up as well.
Honestly, I think the best way to "eat" a Christmas tree is to grind it up into mulch, mix it with mycelium, and use it to grow edible mushrooms.
"If you were snowed in, how long could you last on eating your Christmas tree alone?"
@@benwagner5089 Your math needs some revisiting. Volume measures volume, not mass. Also, the sawdust _is_ branches and trunk. Stopping the blade at 3 lbs sawdust seems real arbitrary. Grind it, dry it, and a 50 lb tree should net you about 20 lbs of sawdust. Maybe that's 6% of the volume, I've no idea.
Good point on the self-made. Buying tree-based ingredients/compounds is intriguing, but I'd also like to see options for an actual tree.
The thing I love about mat is that he’s always doing the what our intrusive thoughts are suggesting for us to do
Don't read my name!
This comment hurts to read
@@BigPunDude what is your problem ??
I would expect the xylem to be the easiest part of the tree to find recipes for. Just look at how many foods contain cellulose or cellulose gum, which is often made from sawdust. If they don't know or care what they're eating, it's common for people to actually prefer cake made with a batter which is about 1/3 cellulose.
A BIG win for Team Theorist! Great job Matthew! You finally can eat your tree and enjoy it :D
Glad to see this theory wasn't all *Bark* and no bite. A well deserved win for Food Theory. Now we just need a restaurant that would offer this *Tree* course meal for the Christmas season. I wonder what will be the next Christmas special, but I hope it'll be something as over the top as a pine tree.
