I am visiting Dubai's iconic Burj Al Arab!
"As the story goes, when the hotel opened back in 1999, a British travel writer who was invited to stay there was so in awe of the place that she described it in her article as a “seven-star hotel”. Over the past two decades, the glittering description has stuck."

SUMMARY:
- It took approximately 5 years to build, and was finished in 1999. The reason it took so long to complete is that it was constructed on an artificial island.
- The hotel is located on a manmade island 280m off Jumeirah Beach
- Burj Al Arab (meaning Tower of the Arabs) is the fourth tallest hotel in the world.
- The Architect designed it to resemble the sail of a ship.
- You’ll be given an option to either ride to the hotel or take a private helicopter.
- The sail-like structure is built on sand. It’s just over 1000 feet tall, with 250 concrete columns. Each of them is approximately 5 feet in diameter, and they dive to 148 feet below sea-levels.
- Walking around, you’ll see flashes of real gold from every direction: In the decorations, on the furniture, even on the chandeliers.
- You’re provided with an exclusive butler for your suite. You won’t have to lift a finger.
- The Royal Suite costs $25,000 per night and almost everything inside is made of gold.
- The suites are so big, it’ll take more than 30 minutes for the butler to show you around.
- If you decide to be more adventurous and book one of the Royal Suites, you’re in for a big shock. Each of the suites are approximately 8,400 square feet, and they cover the whole floor.
- In order to make sure that you get top-quality sleep, the hotel does something extravagant: they present you with 17 varieties of pillows to pick from.
- For lunch, you’re taken to the 27th floor - The restaurants is called “Al Muntaha” which means “The highest”. The windows start from the floor, and stretch all the way up to the ceiling.
- At dinner, you can book a table at the Al Mahara, which translates to Oyster Shell. You’ll enter the dining room through a golden, shell-shaped corridor.
- Near the restaurant, there are also a few private rooms with their own aquariums inside. They have gold shells hanging from the ceiling with special lighting.
- Recently, the most luxurious bar in the world opened in the hotel, and it’s called Gold on 27. It offers unique drinks, and the trained bar tenders keep their recipes secret.

  • If you are reading this George then here’s a suggestion. Go to the Bahamas next then go to Nassau then go to the Royal hotel. While yes, the rooms may not be that luxurious or spectacular the majority of the time you won’t even be in the rooms because you could spend your whole vacation outside. Also if you pay for it the hotel can get you a hands on experience with turtles, dolphins, sea lion, and heck even snorkeling with stingrays and they have a lagoon and beaches where a wide variety of fish and other sea life live. And don’t even get me started with how many animals live there because the hotel has an indoor aquarium called the “Dig” where you can also snorkel in. And their is plenty more fun and entertaining things to do there so I highly recommend that you go there.

From the world's tallest atrium to the Hermes bubble bath, every moment was truly mesmerizing. • And that is a serious problem for sure, however George is there for an entirely different reason, and that was to appreciate what amazing aquariums can be built and what he can learn from them. I don't see any form of self righteousness, frankly anything lacking in his sensitivity as a human being, so let George enjoy this experience, he certainly has earned it. Cheers

    • Maybe so, but even if that is the case George has worked so hard since he was a boy in the world of aquatic life and how to bring it to the people. This must have been a dream of his to one day see the best of what is possible, he is causing no harm. On the other hand, people who are coming into this space to work and get paid a decent wage which isn't being paid, should be demanding they're countries leadership do something about it. Maybe you should contact these governments that would allow this to happen to their own, that would be much more beneficial don't you think? Try and find out what exactly are they doing about it, as in are they warning their people not to go, and if they do, it's at their own risk? Are there attorneys willing to step up for those who can't stand up for themselves. Lots of information needs to be gathered so we know who and what is actually being done about it.

  • Such a beautiful project, the building is gorgeous, but I love that they've fostered more natural abundance in the process, and conservation is woven in to the endeavor. That spot it was built used to be just a plain sandy zone, now billions of creatures are thriving & growing out from that point. Bravo! 🐢

  • I found the inside of the building pretty puke inducing but it was so nice to hear about the coral reef below and the turtle rehabilitation center. It's just a shame that precious gems are used on bidet taps!! What a crazy extravagance. Hopefully the gems are ethically sourced. I watched the program about that place before and they have a jewelry center where all the gems fair trade and ethically mined. Hopefully that's the same for all that revolting gold and gemstone all around the building.
