  • I'm not a Raven's fan but the fact that they lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship the year before and for them to pick themselves back up, get back to here, win it and win the Superbowl is insane! That doesn't happen in the NFL very often. Talk about being mature, focused, and determined. Much respect from me.

In a five year period from 2009 - 2014, they faced off in the playoffs FOUR of those five years; with each team winning two. And the regular season games were every bit as intense. Alex Collins was our young RB that showed some promise. We'd picked up Maclin. Our defense was aging and our offense couldn't keep up. We were inconsistent. We ended the season 9-7 and missed the playoffs. In 2017 I also missed this team so very much. They really could have won 2 super bowls. The Patriots were fortunate to get a bad game from the 2011 Ravens. But I digress. Sitting here in 2023 with Lamar Jackson having a good season, the defense back to Ravens form, the spiritual successor to the legendary Ray Lewis perched at MLB(Roquan Smith) feels really good. It feels like a year we could take a super bowl.

Everyone on that team truly bought in to something bigger than themselves. The media kept counting them out, but you still gotta play the game. And in this game, in the playoffs, all you need is eleven men on the other side of the ball that say not today.

  • Thoughts about the hit at 1:36:30 ? That hit nowadays would probably incur a huge fine and the guys with the concussion protocol would rush out there immediately. They'd probably also throw a flag during the play so the fumble wouldn't even matter. Part of me misses this aspect of football. If you hit a grown man hard enough to make him drop the ball, then the ball is yours. But on the other hand, this hit is concussion 101. Protecting players' long term health is good too.

    @BrandonBate@BrandonBate7 жыл бұрын
    • Good point about Pollard's hit on Ridley and the resulting fumble. I much prefer today's concussion protocol and fines to yesterday's brushed aside helmet-to-helmet hits for player safety reasons. I also think it's funny/typical that the play isn't in the NFL's rundown of important events/times in the video description even though the ensuing Ravens drive led to a touchdown that put the game away. Erasing concussions won't solve the problem.
