BRAAAAAAAP
Welcome to the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, where the world's finest riders compete at races across America over a grueling months-long schedule of races for the number one spot.
There's a ton of information on the sport and the racing online, but what about the dirt? How do they maintain the track during the event? And where does all the dirt go when the checkered flag comes down?
We traveled to the latest SX event in St. Louis to find out!
Enter Dirt Wurx-the amazing company and team behind every track on the calendar. Every week, they build, maintain, and remove the track at each stadium before moving to the next.
Thanks to Feld Entertainment, we had an all-access pass to the racing and post-race activities.
If you haven't attended a Supercross event, make it happen! It's AWESOME!
Love seeing the dirt wurx guys getting exposure, truly the stars of the show. BRING BACK THE DIRT WURX VLOGS LOL
Amen! Come on Alex! Bring back the vlogs
8:39 - "This 6 inches, that's all you need." 🤣
Them operators are so satisfying to watch
they're wildly talented
Go and watch dirtwurx Alex. He’s the owner of the company that builds the tracks. His videos were great of them building the tracks.
Backing over the “whoops” and floating the bucket. 👍
Very talented too
track crews for dirt racing of all types are the heroes we need every weekend
I’m a supercross fan and have worked construction running heavy equipment. So the track and how it’s made and the logistics of it all have always intrigued me. I’ve pieced it all together thru the years of watching supercross on how they do it. But nothing like this video you made. So thank you for doing it!! Great job.
Blows me away what these guys accomplish. I'm a huge fan of supercross and I already know what these guys do isn't easy. Just watching that load out process alone is absolutely insane.
Aaron - do more of these types of vlogs/BTS videos showing the logistics and work required to allow modern-day entertainment/recreation events to happen at scale. Fascinating stories.
I think they get hired by the companies that do the dirt work
Just got home from the mines and watching my two favourite things Buildwit and supercross while having a beer .....life is bliss 😍
Thanks for watching!!
My hats off to the Dirt Wurx guys, love watching them when I'm at the races, during downtime. Awesome operators.
Been a big dirt Wrx guy for awhile they make everything look so easy and smooth it’s un real how good those guys are
Have you seen Dirtwurx Alex’s channel? He was doing build videos a few years ago. Wish he still made them
Float comes in handy in this operation. Another great video on here. Some real good operators there.
@@cameron9877 Except that I'm a retired heavy equipment operator. I know all of the tricks and ways of the trade. Good try.
You ain’t floating those whoop de doos, those guy’s are feathering them….float does do that much!
Two of my favourite things Super Cross and Operating a Dozer. 👏😊
If you've ever built a track then you know just how talented these guys are ! It's literally a work of art what they can do to make everything perfect , these are the unsung heroes of supercross,,
Something else that should be mentioned is how ridiculously hard these people work. Not only are race days usually a 20 hour work day but they don’t get to go home all season long aside from the one off weekend. They’re a truly special group of operators
Those dirt wurx guys are artists
Ive been waiting a long time to see you cover dirtwurx for supercross
That is way more material than i imagined. It's hard to believe these events are economically viable.
I can’t even think they make money
There’s a 50 million dollar investment made every year. Cost about a million a week to put together
Attendance is normally very good at each Supercross round. I flew out to Anaheim 1 (Angels Stadium) and it was sold out for both rounds. They will leave the dirt in the stadium at some rounds and mix in monster trucks. In Arlington, TX (cowboys stadium) I was told the stadium does a dirt month, rodeos, monster trucks, etc. Add in NBC revenue, feld entertainment does very well.
@@AndrewDeVries211 I didn't think of the media and sponsors revenue. Doing rough calculations in my head considering the amount of earth moving going on, ticket sales alone didn't feel like enough to break even, especially in smaller venues/markets.
The dirt is used year after year and stored offsite, so it’s the same dirt each year. They also try to follow monster jam and the dirt can be left in the stadiums (Both owned by FELD Entertainment)
Thanks, Aaron. Another great video. Keep them coming and thanks for sharing!!
we're keeping it fresh!!
My husband and I want more of these videos.
many more in the hopper!!
Niceeee!!! I love Supercross and is awsome seeing Dirt Wurx working on these tracks. Greetings from Brazil!
Awesome Video I am a fan of Supercross and I attend races including this one and the dirt wurx guys are just as important as the racers. They do this every weekend and sellout stadiums across America all the time.
awesome video! dirt wurx crew are top notch that's for sure!
This is awesome, it would be great to see you guys cover the building of a track as well.
Aaron, you actually answered more questions than I even thought I had in this tiny brain of mine - thanks a lot! Keep em coming!
One of the best episodes yet!!
Thanks for watching!
Love this video Aaron i operate equipment up in Minnesota and race dirt bikes so cool that you got to experience a race!!!!
Some of the best guys in the business!
Great video, interesting to see, thanks. Must have been a big job for these guys cleaning up after the mud races this season.
Thank you for doing this video !!!!
Alex used to do his own channel called durtworx, and he just stopped doing for some reason!!! Never heard from him why. It was awesome vlog to watch!
it's because he's too busy haha
@@AaronWitt somebody should step in and film for them to bring it back!
Maybe the brian monreau lawsuit against feld and the medics. Caused the channel to vanish along with the obstacle he crashed on. Dragon backs and only 9 woops. As well as “data” nobody has seen regarding those obstacles
Awesome video. Actually, they are all great. I especially like the comment about Easter starting at 9:45.
love seeing stuff like motocross and monster jam tracks get built
monster jam next
Thank you for showing off some more moto stuff! Subbed!
thanks for watching!
9:47 He has risen indeed!
Favorite video to date! Great job
Great video aaron ur the man bro i used to go to monster jam and always wondered where they got their dirt and machines!
Now that's freaking awesome!
This was cool to watch, thanks man👍
Thanks for watching!
This just popped up in my reccomended video's. I always wanted to know how the post-event procedure worked so this video was very interesting :)
Glad you found it
Always wondered how this worked. Thanks for this cool video!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video!
Slick. Very slick op. 👍👍👍👍👍
The auto level n the skid is incredible
Great video Aaron well done!
It’s like every kid’s dream come true, being able to play in a giant sand box all day making giant dirt ramps.
I’ve been waiting on this video for a long time
I never knew about these buckets that they're using, I need one!
Great behind the scenes vid. Would have liked to have seen the final floor clean and how they got it.
Thats awesome would live to see a complete track build,
That’ll be our next one!
Love the sound of ungreased equipment
Awesome topic, would have been cool to see them build it
This is so cool!
I remember when they used to make videos and post them after almost every race
Awesome footage Aaron
EXCELLENT! i kind of always wondered about this! do the skid steers have buttons for their buckets to follow the jumps/woops or is it all manual control? Now the making of a supercross track would be great to see! pretty much this in reverse lol, but more emphasis on making the track, even a hyperlapse would be good too. cheers for the video
They make that look sooooooooo easy.
He is risen indeed 😊
Great video
This was cool Dirt Worxs has their own KZhead channel but they haven't put a video up in a couple years
This was extremely awesome! Can you please do this at a stadium where they use plywood and plastic under the dirt. I always wondered how they cleaned that up. I've talked to Rich Winkler (previous owner of Dirt Wurz) in the past, haven't spoken to him in years, but it seems that he sold the company to Alex. I remember when Alex was riding minis!!
Wow now we need one of them building it
u guys do a great job non stop good on u fellows thx to deliver the show l just hope u blokes get paid corectly from ur boss
So much work
"But first: let's race!" For some odd reason I was expecting Aaron to race around the track in a skidsteer... 😁😁😁
Super cool
He is risen indeed!
It'd be real cool if you guys did some sort of feature on the dirt work (more track prep) that takes place at the Boone IMCA Supernationals, especially with the rumors of there being 2 tracks on site for this year's race!
You had me at six inches is all you need my dude
Thorpe Excavating Ellendale, ND ❤
Those operators…damn.
What always suck with these indoor races and monster truck ralleys is the cloudy smog. You leave with a headache.
I didn't think this one was bad
Os bastidores do show 👍
2:18 is me making a sandcastle at the beach
Wow that's a lot of work but little time 😮😮😮
As always. Build Witt has interesting and informational videos. Even for us old operators. Red Hills cap? Come on😅
Thanks for watching Bill!!
Me and dad make more comments about the DirtWurx crew than we do the racing these days lol.
@DirtWurxAlex needs a comeback!
Big machines at work? Lets go.....
Thanks to the companies for them letting you film. Maybe NBC wont be such a pain next time and let you show some of the race. This vid is interesting, I never knew how this happened, and then the stadium would have a band come in the next week. The only thing I was curious about that you didn't answer was that Im sure the entire stadium was a mess, and you don't need to show that, thank you. But if they picked up the trash and cleaned the restrooms, how much dust does the dirt cause in the stadium due to dust? I bet that after the dirt is all moved out, they have to dust all the seats or use a wet paper towel to get all the dirt out. You don't have to worry about dust and the mess it makes in most vids, but this one a lil different. just curious
These guys are sculpting with whole ass heavy machinery
do another but of the setup process!
How to they get the final layer of dirt out? Broom trucks?
I wish you could have shown how they clean the cement to a super clean finish. 100 sweepers?
They lay plywood down under the dirt. Then use an enclosed box sweeper to gather it up into a small pile
@@user-kw4np1bh9hLOL 😂, yea ... like they cover up concrete with plywood. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@user-kw4np1bh9hYou have absolutely no clue.
@@user-kw4np1bh9hthat’s what I thought, too, after it seeing it in some stadiums/arenas, but I didn’t see any plywood in this video and Aaron said it was dirt over concrete.
@@AndrewMadden1 Please explain to me how you would go around scooping up dirt that is sitting on plywood without tearing up the plywood and getting it in the dirt. On top of the fact that 3/4 inch plywood costs over 40, 50 a sheet. Just how much would it cost to cover that floor ? And I'm a retired heavy equipment operator.
Was that skid steer on float or just good operating?
not me thinking they hauled the dirt and equitment everywhere😆😆😆
Why did y’all take the vlog down?
ET3 !! 🇺🇸
This guy didnt know who Eli Tomac is.....I bet he is the kind of guy that only eats the yellow starbursts..
Can’t imagine working along the circuit and not knowing the players
Eated it
So what happens to all the tear off and other plastics that are in the dirt?
Hiring?😂❤ I have lots of experience in blades, loaders, dozers, skids. And with a cdl pullin sides, belly's and live bottoms
I was on a haul in for the chili bowl race in Tulsa Oklahoma and a guy left his bed up going on the door and wiped the overhead door and part of the wall out. I’ve never once left my bed up by accident and it’s blatantly obvious when your bed is in the air because you can feel it and see it easily. I’m most day cabs there’s a back window that never has light shining through it unless your bed is up as well so I’ll never understand how guys hit stuff with their bed up constantly. There’s been countless guys hit bridges with their beds up in Tulsa as well and I know that everyone hears about it so guys should have caught on by now.
Haha I remember that. What a mistake. Bet he's not doing it for them anymore
How do they get the stadium floor "clean" after the bulk of the dirt is removed?
I mean i think 4 inches does just fine Aaron….you didn’t need to out me like that
sorry
97K views, and half of them were probably me today.
Compact the soil more please. Vibrating pneumatic plate compactor?
does dirtwurx load it out or BeelMan? Looks like once its piled up Deeres came in to load out.
Dirtwurx
Someone can correct me if im wrong but 350 loads 20 trucks 20 minute round trip per truck prob 5 minutes to load. So 25 minutes total. Finally gives you 17 loads per truck at 25 minutes per load. So about 7-8 hours to remove all the dirt.
Cheeky John Deere loader for cat users
When is the fabick cat video filmed a few months ago dropping?
