MANOR LORDS | EP09 - GROWING PAINS (Early Access Let's Play - Medieval City Builder)

2024 ж. 19 Сәу.
15 885 Рет қаралды

Manor Lords has been my most anticipated city builder since I first stumbled across it in 2020 - the medieval city builder with RTS combat elements, and an economic system that integrates the two closely... what more could I ask for? This series will showcase Manor Lords gameplay while highlighting how to play Manor Lords, providing explanations for various mechanics and gameplay systems. If you like city builders, if you like medieval settings, and if you like tactical battles, I think you might like this series.

  • EPISODE 10 is OUT NOW - kzhead.info/sun/gL6RfLpsaXeKYJs/bejne.html ! If you missed any of the previous episodes, you can find them all here - kzhead.info/sun/mZVvmLywa3yInGw/bejne.html ! I still can't quite believe the scale of the game to be honest! Now here's hoping our second village is able to survive its first winter.

  • Ahhh. I binge watched this series till 3 am this morning and was bummed that I had finished them, lol. Then, to my surprise, I wake up to a fresh new video to watch while I sit on my porch and enjoy my coffee!! Fantastic job on this series. I'm excited to see the future.

  • What the lower tier houses want seems to be the clothing materials rather then the full goods. Providing more leather and yarn might help more then another cobbler.

  • In Eisendorf, I think it would make sense to plan out your main roads first to optimize the flow of workers, then establish a town center (maybe a circle or square) for markets and trade, then build outwardly around the central hub in a radial pattern. Industrial hubs could be maximized by placing them half way between the resources and the town center. Just a suggestion.

    @johndevoist8129@johndevoist8129Ай бұрын
  • SUGGESTION: (46:04) I would advise against getting another cobbler. If you mouseover specific housing needs you can see that some slots can only filled by specific types of goods. e.g. The first clothing slot in a house can only be filled by Linen, Leather, or Yarn - NOT by Shoes, Clothes, or Cloaks. It might be that Adelsball has too much "complex clothing" and not enough "simple clothing". Building more cobblers/tailors puts more strain on your "simple clothing" stockpiles as it's all getting consumed for shoe/cloak production. In brief: More goats/flax/sheep and fewer tailors/cobblers should help resolve your clothing issues. Side Note: Could this be what's happening with food distribution issues too?

  • You should consider really investing in farming in adlesball, it’s rare to have land that fertile, you can sell the excess for now but then use it to feed other towns as you expand.

  • As mentioned in the market info: "Burgage plots CLOSEST TO THE MARKET get their market requirements fulfilled first!" As it's physically impossible, to have all burgages close to ONE market place, maybe it's time to open several smaller market places CLOSER to all these exterior burgages. A well known concept for this is done by placing infrastructures in a pattern, the points of a triangle are. In this case it would be roughly N, SE, and SW, where the northern market already exists. When extending the town, you can can easily create a new triangle just by placing a single new point. Continuing is infinite. This concept doesn't only work for markets, but for all infrastructures, like storage, school, church, watch towers, wells, asf. in similar games, same as in real life. We even used this concept for irrigation of our rice fields in Thailand, although it's not suitable for mechanized rice cultivation, but our water buffaloes could handle it quite well. ;)

  • If Eisendorf is growing, you need to rename it to Eisenstadt. Which would be Iron Town or Iron City. I also like how organic the places look. Like, I can see that and think that there is a real German village there.

  • The game is looking so cool. I like your idea of a naturally flowing civilization, it takes a long time to start from scratch, the only suggestion I have is logistics builds empires. I don't even have a pc but I find it so interesting to see the transport on here displayed so well. The frustration of waiting weeks to be able to achieve something when if you want something across the globe, waiting 4 days might be too long and you need that overnight.

  • (Ahh, some IRL historic places had winter wheat some did not. This game did. Finally, trying to recall if/when you need to establish a full trade route to allow other items to trade that require a prior full trade route established and if you need more free families and/or assigned to warehouse clothing manufacturing families and/or more local markets for clothing stalls, but again, there is another episode after this.)

Since they are your regional representation, for now anyways (I don't know what's to come Army wise) shouldn't they be in matching armor? The armies representing the illegitimate lord are. For me personally I have every intention of kitting my army out when I can finally play this on Xbox. I'm absolutely excited and hyped for this game thanks to your work as well as other YTbers. • SO, about food variety on your 1rst village: Have you considered trying to create a new market slightly closer to the houses in red? Like, I can't for the life of me figure out what else is wrong I think you just got too far from the market. Maybe a little one just to see what happens?

    @conradoccaminha@conradoccaminhaАй бұрын
    • Exactly. Distance is quite critical in this game! Placing small markets (5-8 stalls) in a triangle, like N, SW, and SE would do the trick.

  • I've not played so I don't know. When you have Mercenaries. Do they spend money in your town? Because that might be a level of nuance that maybe should be considered by the Devs and by extension, the players. Contracts. 1) Mercenaries use standard fixed monthly rates But some of that money is paid back into the town because they need to eat and sleep at the inn. or 2) Mercenaries get food and accommodation in the town for free, but they don't work the field nor can they be disbanded. However this option can maybe have complications whereby if their morale drops, they might form a coup and try to overthrow you.

  • Bro, that path is like a 25% trek up. Nobody in their right mind would want to carry iron up there! Gotta wind that path alot more to hit that smooth 4% gradient us humans like. Also, for the families who don't like buying clothes, you just need a nudist colony. It's such an easy fix bro.

  • Less city planning, more village growing. You keep saying you want organic growth, but I think your urge to plan your layouts "properly" in advance goes against that goal. For Eisendorf, your locations are too far away from each other, and not enough people live there to make any of it work properly. Instead of planning the buildings for the town it will eventually grow into, it would make more sense to cater to the direct needs of what is there in the moment. Those who work in the forager hut would not choose to live halfway across the map where a church and market could eventually be built sometime in several years once the village gets big, but would make a house near where they work. They would put their food in warehouses that are close to where they live, and markets would grow organically where people live and goods are stored. More people settle near where there are markets. A church would be built where there's enough people to make a congregation, and more people would build their houses around that as they moved in. A town grows around a church - once the church is built, not before it.

    @nemzeh@nemzeh29 күн бұрын
    • I can't help but feel every single decision made about the layout of Eisendorg was made for some vision, rather than their survival I watched in horror as he placed the supplies half way across the map from everything he was building, and braced myself for the colony to fail.

  • This is totally role play advice only because it doesn't seem to be an issue in-game but... leave some trees here and there if you can, especially around hills. This helps hold the ground together and prevent landslides/mudslides etc and helps slow down rainwater runoff so the ground holds more water and you can outlast the dry seasons.

More animals available would be realistic also, such as Pigs for meat and manure [for fertilizer},Geese {for feather and eggs/meat}Cows for Dairy produces etc. Do you have any other meat supply other than Venison?

  • One small comment, almost certainly due to my irritation at other things in my life right now. I chose to stop watching the last episode early, and then noticed at 23:20 -- repeating the same statement to fill air time. In moderation it's entirely acceptable, but I challenge you to watch the end of the last episode and count how many repeated phrase-phrase instances there are. I really enjoy watching this series, and it is unfair of me to be taking out stress on a wonderful content creator -- but... yeah, right now that extremely repeated habit is jumping up and down on a nerve.

    • While I completely understand, I would love to point out that compassion and empathy are often our way out of extremely stressful times. Yet we are often terrible at offering ourselves the same, self-compassion. So sometimes it is easier to start with others. Perhaps rewatch these sections that bother you, multiple times, with intent on visualizing him playing the game, deep in thought about what to do in it, while at the same time understanding that going silent may either be awkward for him, or awkward for the watcher. See him. Be him. Remind yourself that the brain works this way. The higher the focus on one thing, the lower in another. And remember to breathe. I know this suggestion probably sounds odd and atypical, but these are the ways we can work through our own suffering.

You set your new camp way off, away from both the mine (which is central to this town's economy) and the food (hunting and Berrys) its also set up way away from your logging camp. Your guys are having to travel immense distances to get anything done.
