MANOR LORDS | EP11 - BARTER LORDS (Early Access Let's Play - Medieval City Builder)

2024 ж. 21 Сәу.
11 145 Рет қаралды

Manor Lords has been my most anticipated city builder since I first stumbled across it in 2020 - the medieval city builder with RTS combat elements, and an economic system that integrates the two closely... what more could I ask for? This series will showcase Manor Lords gameplay while highlighting how to play Manor Lords, providing explanations for various mechanics and gameplay systems. If you like city builders, if you like medieval settings, and if you like tactical battles, I think you might like this series.

Bet anything they are lacking in wood for such a large population. Also import more. It's not as if you're broke!

  • Also, you can directly assign specific families to specific jobs too. Empty the farmhouse and fill it by assigning families directly to it from the nearby burgage plots. • Shoes/clothes Fix - Houses get goods by distance - further away get stuff last. Without storing the maximum amount of shoes (# is capped by amount of burgage plots in town), the furthest ones do not get any. Its hard to fix without opening a few clothing stalls just a tad bit closer. So then the market needs to have enough shoes in it stored enough to reach the last house each time they get goods to satisfy needs. Try building a storehouse in the vicinity of the market storing mostly clothing (warehousing certain goods near the market was probably a thing?) - this will ensure that the market is always topped off. Of course opening a small clothing market near the district where all the clothing is produced would totally make sense. Its natural people would go to get best wares from the part of town where all the master tailors sell their stuff.

  • 16:05 I don't think that path is too steep, then again New Zealand is notorious for steep paths and roads because of the landscape. You should look up Bridle Path, North Canterbury, New Zealand. Its the path settlers took to build their settlements on flatter land. Makes your road look like a Sunday stroll. They made us walk it on an all day school trip, and that was only half the way, we got to take the gondala back down. A lot of good drink bottles were lost that day, once they rolled no one was going after them. RIP

    @sianlloyd7226@sianlloyd722625 күн бұрын
  • Try not to build on the steep land. There's plenty of flat land on the other side and in the forested area. Besides, they wouldn't have built on steep land during that era unless they really had no option. Building on hillsides is difficult without modern equipment. But, most importantly, erosion happens in real life and the houses would have been at greater risk at collapsing due to the land around it slowly moving. If you want to be a little more realistic. You can also build grids if you want. Each town would have been designed by their Lord to their like and need. But don't make huge blocks! Try and keep them small. Everything during this time was built to be walking distance. Even if horses were around, not everyone had one. In all my city builder games, I try not to make my blocks more than 6 buildings long. Why 6? I don't know, but usually works and looks pleasing. Either way, enjoying the game and videos.

  • 14:37 This road through the woods is very scenic! The graphics of this game are really nice, save a few inconsistencies I wish video game makers would pay more attention, like people walking through walls, as one example... But THIS PATH!!! I would be less inclined to complain about this road if you were building towards it. Except, you're building away from it. I do hope that you will see the comment I left on the previous video. You completely abandoned the thought of sending a road down a steep decline. Those steep declines don't have to be so challenging... just "S" your way down the grades! In turn... you'll have a shorter path between your settlements! I think it's necessary to have a road from your first settlement going directly towards the iron mines and smiths of Izendorf. When you had mentioned having a trading post in between the two you have at this point... that was intriguing! Though, just like the distant berry gatherer, you'd need burgs over there too. Don't get rid of your long path.. come to the south down that steepness, and create a triangle (of sorts) with the roads between the cities! Create 2 routes to Izendorf!

  • You can’t import in the trading post when you don’t have money. You CAN barter with a different territory to import high priced items then EXPORT them with the trading post to gain income. Your biggest mistake was using all your income to buy supplies that you could’ve got for free (barter). Now you have to deal with that mistake.

  • In regards to the planning of Eisendorf (or however you spell it), if you want it to look organic then you build the houses around the main focus that is there at a time. Hamlets start as a group of houses, usually around a farm, industry or crossroads. If a church, market or tavern appears, the houses then grow around that, dependent on what is important to the peasants building the houses. The Lord doesn't build them - he just allows areas of land to be tenanted, and makes his gold from tax and rents. It's difficult to let yourself go and be dictated by what is necessary at the time, rather than plan and create the perfect system. However if you really want it to look organic, you will need to let go of this perfection. Either you're trying for perfection, or you're dealing with natural disorder. You can't have both.

  • Germans had city planning and some did have a church at the centre; some did not. Those that did not were more planned for 'subjugated' communities that were to be self-sufficient but perhaps limited in the their development. I think they were more intended to be satellites or feeders for the Germanic Lords or Barons and the larger German communities. Credit to One Proud Bavarian for his research into this. It was called a 'Rundlinge'. Check him out for how this was used and when specifically.
