    • @@stwong2000 Agreed, although part of it really depends on what life situation you're approaching fitness from. Some people need to be able to view it as a hobby at the start in order to make it into a lifestyle, because it really is meant to be a lifestyle, but some people just don't have the right habits/discipline built up to properly integrate fitness into their lives. For others, though, they already have what it takes to handle to rigors of working out regularly, so for them making it into a lifestyle thing is easy. But I still totally agree in that, ideally, one should regard fitness as a standard of health and self-care.

    • Eventually, when you've been hardcore for a while, it becomes a hobby. Initially I did not enjoy working out 6 days a week with cardio every single day. However, with time I feel better in every way (physically and mentally) and it became something I look forward to doing.

  • So. I am deeply, deeply depressed, have been for the past 15 years of my life, with ups and downs of course, spent a year bedridden fully catatonic and all that jazz. That being said, for about two months now I have been in another crisis, I sleep almost 20h a day, can't work, can't eat, barely bathe myself, etc. By watching your videos, right now exactly this moment, I got up and actually moved my body (aka wall pushups). Because I wanted to.( folks who have depression will understand how hard it is to want anything, let alone get up and do it). Thank you.

  • Dear Hampton, I'm a 66-year-old woman and can't do pull-ups, never could, except maybe when I was a kid, but resigned to never being able to again. Then I saw your video and decided I'm going to try. I tried on the park outdoor pull-up bar, but just immediately crumpled to the ground. But I was inspired by your philosophy of doing a little bit every day. Then I bought gym rings and put them up outside my backdoor. Every time I walk past I step up, grip, step off the stool and drop down. Resigned that's all I'll ever be able to do. At least it gives my back a nice stretch. But soon I found that instead of immediately slipping off, I could hold on for a few seconds. Then 10 seconds. Then 12. Now I feel I can squeeze my shoulder blades together and make a small pulling motion. Will let you know if I ever manage to do one complete pull-up. Maybe in a year.

    • Virginia school system has children take health and PE but alternating like one week health and one week pe in my opinion by middle and Highschool kids should’ve already been taught health because half the kids including myself were already on a track of no return ,without major effort, teach kids young what to eat, basically brainwash the fuckers and have only PE in middle school and only PE and maybe cooking ,or teen living whtv it’s called, in Highschool.
