    • It is aesthetically almost perfect, isn't it? Interestingly, almost everything the Germans had in WW2 looked seriously cool; from the uniforms to the planes to the vehicles. Compare German stuff to Soviet stuff, for example - Soviet stuff is ugly as sin. I mean there is a strategic, military advantage in having your armed forces look really cool and intimidating - improves moral for you, hurts moral for them, makes people in occupied territories think twice before stepping off - so I wonder if this was done intentionally - they'd throw a designer in among the engineers when drawing up this stuff?

    • Can't argue with that. Though the Panther's armour was sloped and therefore more efficient. Over-engineered of course, like much earlier Nazi equipment but the Germans were not anticipating a war of attrition in which winning would depend on how quickly destroyed tanks could be replaced and production increased.

It was an extremely well designed, well balanced war toy....If the Germans couldn't avoid defeat with these beasts was due to the fact that the Tiger was expensive to produce, and not made in the large quantities the Wehrmacht's involvement in so many fronts required, so they Tigers usually fought outnumbered 10 to 1...had it been 3 or 4 against one, the outcome of the war could have been different.

    • @DSW22 Ok you are naming designs from German engineers, but my point still stands that none of what you listed, the assault rifle, the rocket, etc, were invented by Germans. These specific weapons were designed by Germans, but none were invented by them. The jet engine was a British invention, the STG 44 was more assault weapon-like compared to modern day assault rifles, but weapons like the BAR came before it, and that was designed by Browning. The guided missile was an Irish invention, the general purpose machine gun was made by Maxim, who was British-American. I can go on and on if you want me to.

А все таки какой бы не был тигр весом, хоть Тигр 55 тон, хоть 67 тонн, а все равно наши деды их победили. Слава Советским Воинам Победителям.

      @LegacyIvyTerascale@LegacyIvyTerascale7 жыл бұрын
    • Very early tigers had reliability issues due to the aluminum engine block. But once they switched to the HL230 engine, reliability was fine. However, they were high maintenance. And Germany suffered from very poor fuel, which caused the engines to run poorly depending on the fuel quality. The T-34 was simple, cheap to build, and did not require a high level of maintenance. But it was not an overly reliable tank. The Soviets were actually happy when they captured Panzer IV and Stug tanks because these were extremely reliable. But when capturing Panthers or Tigers, they would drive them till they broke, then leave them. And this was typically because they did not properly maintain them, as they had no reason to.

      @Stuka87@Stuka877 жыл бұрын
    • Imo only problem with the tigers was they needed more maintenance than other tanks and they drunk fuel like a fish in a time of overall fuel shortage.

      @animenut69@animenut697 жыл бұрын
    • That is a myth.. there are plenty of books that say otherwise. They leaked, the crew compartments were cramp and the crews were usually fatigued, other systems could fail.... They could actually leave the tank, and depending on where they were could jump in a new one. The armor also had plenty of weld deficiencies.
