Hunting Tigers in Africa

It's the 24th of April 1943 on the sun-swept steppes of Tunisia.
Explosions rock the earth as the men of the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters take cover in their meager trenches.
The Germans have them under fire and just 300 yards away a Panzer squadron in a hull down position fires upon the allied positions.
At the head of the panzer squadron is a fearsome beast. Even its name is whispered by the Allies. It’s a Tiger. Armed with a powerful 88mm gun and incredible armor they are the flagship of the German War Machine.
How is it possible to destroy or even capture such an epic machine? They inflict dread in even the best of tankers, let alone a battalion of infantry with just PIATs at their disposal. In a rush a few men run for an abandoned enemy position. There they find an abandoned Pak 97/38. They heave the gun around to face the oncoming threat and scavenge as much ammunition as they can.
Inside the Tiger the crew are under strict instructions not to let their tank fall into enemy hands. Even going so far to equip Tigers with charges to blow up the tank in the event of capture. So for the allies even taking one out is a colossal undertaking. Let alone capturing a tiger with its fangs and claws intact.
We take you through the events of that day and how exactly the allies managed to get their hands on the peak of Germany’s tank technology at the time.
Thank you very much to the Tank Museum @thetankmuseum for helping us with the script and allowing us to use the photos in this film. Any errors are our own. You can see the legendary Tiger 131 in action: tankmuseum.org/events

You've illuminated moments of incredible courage, terrible violence and destruction, and most importantly, occasions of unexpected mercy, compassion and humanity. In a world darkened by greed, deception, and cowardice, you are a light showing us a higher road. Thank you, everyone at Yarnhub, for teaching us not just history, but also how to be.

    • @@Agustin-jd9iq I'm not "asking impossible things" I'm not asking Yarnhub to depict events inside the Tiger that they can't know about. I'm asking them to NOT depict. It's easy. Just don't do it. For example, this video says the Germans "forgot" to destroy the tank. But Yarnhub have no idea what they were really thinking. It may have been impossible to do that. So why invent a fictional narrative and pretend it's history? And as for the Tiger itself: it's in a museum and we KNOW it has no big red button OR stupid graffiti. Should a documentary have jokes in it?

    • @@daveybyrden3936if the tank crew was ordered to destroy the tank and was given satchel charges but said tank was never destroyed then obviously they forgot to destroy the tank. Given the minimal damage to the tiger it's improbable they ran out time to set the charges which would be the only other explanation as to why it wasn't destroyed and was found empty. The crew was overwhelmed and they bailed then forgot to blow it up full stop.

      @_wanted_outlaw3007@_wanted_outlaw30075 ай бұрын
    • @@_wanted_outlaw3007 Does "full stop" mean that I'm not allowed to reply? Because you're in charge of freedom of speech? I'm going to reply anyway, because the discussion would benefit from relevant facts, which unfortunately require a long explanation. The Tiger had a circular turret floor. On the right side of this circle there was a large hatch - the only part of the floor not encumbered by machinery. If the turret was facing forward and you raised this hatch, you would get access to some ammunition kept under the floor. If the turret was turned around facing BACKWARDS and you opened the hatch, you would get access to a large storage bin. The charges provided to Tiger crews to disable their tanks were shaped like a cylinder (not a satchel) and there was NO standard box or hook or clip anywhere on the tank's internal walls to hold them. Therefore, crews often put them in that storage box along with other things that did not require instant access. There is at least one British report of seeing a crewman return to an immobilised Tiger and turn its turret around, completely puzzling the British observer, then leaving the tank which soon exploded. So, let's assume the crew of 131 kept their destruction charges in that box. What was the result of the British rounds impacting 131? I'm sure you remember; its turret became jammed and could not turn around. So there's a very plausible reason why they couldn't destroy the tank even if they wanted to.

  • Your 3D modelling crew on permanent Pervitin intake like Aimo Koivunen, or something? These models are simply incredible, I can't even imagine the amount of work going into these, let alone the animation and effects. I wonder if your graphics team also has the same survival knack as Aimo, a cunning ability to make a fire no matter the circumstance. Just make sure they don't make a fire in the middle of the room and burn down the YarnHub studio! It is downright incredible what you guys are putting out.
