    @user-xn8bv9lr7m@user-xn8bv9lr7m2 жыл бұрын
    • Mainly the fact that he played every single tounament that he could in autumn 2016, when Djoko was having a rest. This got him to No.1, for a total of 41 weeks. It also completely broke him physically, resulting in all the injuries, surgeries and time out of the game ever since then. So, he did get to No.1, but at what cost?! He was a decent player, and the best the UK has produced EVER, but nowhere near the level of Djoko, Fed or Rafa, as their records show. I think he should retire from singles, play doubles for a few more seasons, where he may have some slight success then retire gracefully from public life. Please don't let him anywhere near the commentary box.

      @zeee149@zeee1492 жыл бұрын
    • @@zeee149 He was more than a decent player. Decent players don't do what he did in the game, they languish around the top 100. Murray was possibly a top 20-25 all timer, with most of his records (ATP Tour wins, win%, his grand slam record, Masters tournament wins) being top 10-15. His only issue being that he had the 3 best tennis players of all time to compete against, in their respective primes, and thus "only" won 3 grand slams.

He is brilliant. No he doesn't win slams or masters but neither do 180 of the other top 200 so why pick on him and call him a failure? He has tried to walk away from the sport many times because of what you all call him and they keep dragging him back because he is so good at it.

    • Do you honestly think tennis would be better off without any showboaters in the mix? If everyone was just sensible and played the percentages all the time, you'd never see a second serve ace to save match point. You'd never see a 115 mph forehand. Not worth the risk. Why this one-size-fits-all attitude? Not everyone needs to try to be Djokovic. The whole notion that fooling around on court is disrespectful or immoral is misguided. Beating your opponent to smithereens is hardly a showpiece of morality. And joking around is only disrespectful if it expresses a belief that the other player isn't good enough to require your best effort, not if you're doing it because you're committed to having fun. In a few years Kyrgios will be off the tour and he'll regret not having enjoyed himself more than not having won a Slam, because that's who he is.

  • It's strange when people say Nick K doesn't play to his full potential. Maybe he does, maybe he is just inconsistent ... consistency is difficult and very few players manage to get to and stay at the top. Just because he hits an amazing forehand every now and again doesn't mean shit. I find him entertaining, but he is not elite.
