    • I totally agree! I do not understand what so many machine related videos have this distracting unneeded music. If you look at the comments on every singe machining video with music every one is saying the same thing. Turn off the music! Guys/gals that watch these videos are watching for the content, there is no need to “spice” up the video with lame music. Let the machine sing instead

How about grinding them to use as fixed centers, clean up the ends and use them as dowel pins, measuring pins, really tough axles or center punches for hole transfers. Oh, and get yourself a protective cap for your horizontal spindle taper when your spraying chips everywhere. Cheers

  • Hope this helps a newbie: Halfway video play I remembered my first day's absence to machine-shop class orientation. It was worthwhile my observations to understand these are broken "drills" and not drill-bits being salvaged into "cutting-tools", which these are repurposed into "tool-bits", and others so labeled according to machine equipment it is specifically bench grinded for: Explanation is a lathe's tool-bit is reformed into different angle/shape for a differently designed holder than milling machine. Cutting tools are distinguished from mechanics' or etc non-machine shop tools. Even their alloys are hardened/tensile strenghthened by tempering processes, and even slightly different betwixt some machine applications. Thus especially different are metal categories unlike other tools outside a machine shop. Another difference is a mechanic's tools refer to power-equipments, but these are machines like a drill-press for one used among those displayed in this video. This video is a worthwhile contribution for DIYs economizing. I liked that tech-school class in my younger days. If only possible for me to overcome personal issues of attendance and punctuality, I could have broadened my manufacturing independance desires into any materials for fabrication, except for specialty parts like electronics. Probably I could not have progressed up to their programmable multi-operation machine. And tech magazines debuted programmable solution-bath equipments having electric-arc cutters! But isn't learning what you can and when you can such great fun?

    • @@droopy_eyes If that is true, it's pretty ironic and he should've went to class more often. The guy is using broken carbide endmills, which can be ground into any serviceable tool in the machine shop. He'd also know the shank of a HSS drill is still serviceable if you apply the effort as shown, but they're so cheap it's not worth it to most these days. The biggest thing lost in all of the repurposing is the benefit of the coatings.

    • It depends on the type and application of the tool, but generally from 2312 and 2375

  • Yes Plenty of new ideas. But I need to buy a milling machine to implement that.

  • How much do you spend time and cost for this work? 😁 it’s better than to buy new one for best and convenient 🙏🇳🇵💕

  • Holy shit man you're a damn fucking genius! I really appreciated how at minute 12:00 you created a tool for turning pins on a milling cutter. I would be grateful if you could link me to a thousandth instrument produced by some company to perform this specific operation. I am a professional milling machine and I realized that my 3-axis CNC is unable to create concentric pins at centesimal level, obtaining a different measurement on the x axis than the measurement on the y axis. A similar tool would be ideal.
