    • The USA vs Soviets Olympic b ball game was fixed. It was clear that the Refs had their orders that Soviets were to win. The Refs gave them like three or four chances at the end there to be sure that they won. Made up calls out of thin air. But we beat em in ice hockey in 1980.

      @aspenrebel@aspenrebel5 ай бұрын
    • @@aspenrebel That may be what Americans' hearts tell them about the Munich game, but the idea that it was fixed just doesn't go along with what the refs did. Doug Collins was actually awarded a free throw by those same refs in the final seconds that by the rules he should have had to shoot over. The Soviets had called a time out, and Int'l rules said a time out before two free throws comes after the first free throw, strange as that sounds. But they gave Collins the ball right after he hit the first and let him hit the second, despite the scorekeeper blowing the horn for the TO. The point stayed on the scoreboard. Then the reason the Soviets got their second of those three inbounds was that the clock malfunctioned on the first. Then on the third inbound, Tom McMillian was guarding the inbounds passer too closely. The international rule says the passer gets five feet of free space, but McMillian was giving him just the two that U.S. rules state. The refs gave him a verbal warning, but did not call a technical foul on him, which they by rules could have done. If there was a conspiracy to fix the game, all those moves by the refs would not have been done.

And thats how you coped with being a Lions fan before MCDC came along, you prepared for any mishap, knowing the Lions would come up with any way possible to lose a game in heartbreaking fashion. They should have their own video

  • Great collection of videos. However, I don't feel some of these qualify. For it to be a truly heartbreaking loss, you have to feel like you're going to win, and then an incredible play happens that snatches victory from the hands of defeat. For many of these games, the score was tied and then someone made a great shot or play that won the game for the other team. So, your first video, the Michigan/Michigan State game, that's definitely a gut-punch loss for the Wolverines. In contrast, in the Villanova NCAA championship, the game was tied and the Wildcats had the last shot. No way NC fans felt they had that game in the bag.
