“It's a real combat multiplier for the Ukrainians. It will give them the ability to fire at a much longer range into Russia.”
“High tech weapons” being sent to Ukraine will help them “retake the ground the Russians have managed to gain”, says Colonel Brendan Kearney.

  • At least the Ukrainians are making good use of USA and NATO weapons given to them unlike the South Vietnamese and Afghans who just gave it all to their enemies and ran away, Ukrainians stood up and fight and 2 years later still fighting hard standing strong vs. continued Russian attacks with a ferocity not seen since WW2 Eastern Front.

Why should we defend some people that refuse to defend themselves? Everyone has been living high on the hog for far too long and look at where it has gotten us if they would’ve listened to Trump when he was in Office increased their defense spending then we may have either avoided the Ukraine war altogether would have in reserve to properly supply them by now. Because of the delayed aid, Ukraine lost strongly fortified defensive positions. Now they are on the back foot. @c.rutherford@c.rutherford3 күн бұрын
  • The ATACMS was first used in combat in 1991: 32 were fired from the M270 MLRS during Operation Desert Storm. In 2003, more the 450 were fired in Operation Iraqi Freedom. As of early 2015, more than 560 ATACMS missiles had been used in combat. In 2007, the U.S. Army terminated the ATACMS program due to cost, ending the ability to replenish stocks. To sustain the remaining inventory, the ATACMS Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) was launched, which refurbishes or replaces propulsion and navigation systems, replaces cluster munition warheads with the unitary blast fragmentation warhead, and adds a proximity fuze option to obtain area effects. Deliveries were projected to start in 2018. The ATACMS SLEP is a bridging initiative to provide time to complete analysis and development of a successor capability to the aging ATACMS stockpile, which could be ready around 2022. Ukraine has requested ATACMS since early stages of the Russo-Ukrainian War. In October 2023, a year and eight months after the Russian invasion, the United States delivered ATACMS to Ukraine. The use of these missiles threatened the entirety of the Russian land corridor in southern Ukraine It further placed within reach the vast majority of the air bases operated by Russia inside Ukraine (north of Crimea), and complicated Russia's use of attack helicopters against Ukrainian targets. On February 19, 2024, NBC News reported that U.S. President Joe Biden is considering providing Ukraine with longer-range ATACMS. On 17 April 2024, six explosions were reported at the Dzhankoi (air base) in Russian-occupied Crimea. Pro-Russian military bloggers and Ukrainian sources believe that ATACMS missiles or ballistic missiles were used. Some of these missiles deployed cluster munitions. At least six explosions and multiple secondary explosions were reported by locals. The Kyiv Post posted a picture of contrails which it suggests were consistent with a missile being controlled up until impact (as opposed to a ballistic missile). On April 20, 2024, after months of delays, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an additional $61 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine which has been reported to include the delivery of the longer-range version of ATACMS. On April 24, 2024, it was reported that the U.S. secretly sent the 300km range version of ATACMS to Ukraine in March 2024

  • 2:20 _"I don't know what the Representatives' rationale was for opposing further aid to Ukraine."_ The Colonel must have flunked Situational Awareness 101". The rationale was stated clearly; publicized widely; and strongly supported by the facts: (1) our own (US) border is being left wide open to criminals and terrorists, (2) the US goal is for Ukraine to join NATO, which Russia might well go nuclear to prevent, and (3) the US doesn't have USD 60 billion to spare.

  • Times, your analysis is not objective. It always fails to look at the tactical reality, recognize what the Russian's are doing well and avoid completely or downplay the challenges Ukraine is facing. It's not ammo or weapons, it's the human dimension, man power shortages and will to endure that will decide the outcome.

  • Speaking of territory - Rostov used to belong to Ukraine, before Russia stole it by force. It should be part of the reparations. Returning it to Ukraine will make it harder for the Muskovites to invade again when their next government reputiates / forgets the treaties it signed. And history shows this happens more often than not.
