How Putin's 'reckless' military strategy will be thwarted by US-Ukraine aid package | Michael Clarke

2024 ж. 21 Сәу.

“For the Kremlin this is a disastrous week because they had based their current offensive on the assumption that the aid package wouldn’t go through.”
Michael Clarke explains how the US $61 billion aid package will fundamentally undermine Russia’s “reckless” offensive strategy in Ukraine.

  • 80% of the money loaned to Ukraine by the US stays in the US, ie used to create weapons and ammunition. Am I hearing this right?

    • Yeah, the weapons companies get most of it. They pay them to make the patriot systems and ammunition so there are people making money mostly the military industrial complex but yes, only a small amount of the actual money is being sent to Ukraine to help with their energy infrastructure and other thingshumanitarian

  • Reading a lot of very uninformed comments sadly. Just to make it clear: The EU/individual European countries has given more money to support Ukraine than the US has. If we look per capita GNP spending, the US is down around 10th place on the list. The reason the US is so important in this, is because no matter how much money the EU throws at it, the US is the only western nation that has the military industrial complex to produce all this stuff so fast, as well as having large stockpiles that they can send off right this moment, whereas Europe is still in the process of setting up manufacturing plants for all this stuff. I keep reading again and again that "Europe shouldn't rely on the US". Let's make this clear: The US has specifically worked, FOR DECADES, to ensure that they would be the primary arms suppliers for Europe. They have actively worked to ensure that EU military spending happens in the US. Unsurprisingly, when the US then suddenly says "Yeah, no", then that creates a massive problem. Let me say it again: The European countries have given more aid to Ukraine than the US has, and per capita WAY more than the US has. The reason the US is so important, is that they're the ones who purposely built up a massive military industrial complex for exactly this situation.

They have been violated by the Russian Federation on a regular basis. Signing of the first documents in September 2014 followed direct incursion of the Russian regular troops in Donbas and intense hostilities near the city of Ilovaysk - the place of one of the most shameful crimes, committed by the Russian Army in Donbas. At least 366 Ukrainian servicemen were killed and 429 were wounded there while leaving the city in the so-called “green corridor” under the guarantees of commanders of Russian troops." "In violation of the Minsk Memorandum, Russian troops and Russia-backed illegal armed formations seized 8 pieces of land 1696 km² in area, which had to be on the Ukrainian government-controlled territory according to the line of contact, defined by the Memorandum." "Debaltseve is one of the most telling examples of how Russia violates the Minsk Agreements. Combined Russian-terrorist forces attacked and seized the city and the outskirts on 16-18 February 2015, immediately after the Minsk Package of measures, establishing the comprehensive ceasefire since 15 February, had been signed."

And it was pretty clear the Republicans had to pass Ukraine aid now because with only a narrow margin in control, if they tried to stop the speaker they risked Democrats gaining control of the House of Representatives, Democrats having full control of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Presidency and just passing aid on their own. Where was Russia getting its intelligence to confirm Michael Clarke's view that Russia thought the aid package would never pass. However, to play your game, my argument is this: There is no good or easy way Russia can or will win. Why? Because if somehow Russia continues to advance, even after this round of funding, the west will likely have to intervene more directly, an d France has already spoken about this. Russia has a large army, but they cannot go on the attack indefinitely. Do you know how difficult it is to maintain offensive momentum? The only reason the Ruzzians still aren't on their backfoot is that the U.S. and the E.U. have been miserably-slow to respond with aid. The silver lining is that the Ruzzians are terrible at warfighting and only have large numbers of personnel to fight in "meat waves", circa 1915 as a strategy for "winning". Additionally, massive amounts of their equipment has been lost. The truth is, they have a lot of equipment. And the only reason the RU public has not revolved is that Ruzzia has control of mass media, controlling the narrative. Ukraine has stood on its own against a 7:1 advantage in personnel/equipment, and Ruzzia has yet to conquer them. I could still happen, but it's really embarrassingly-sad how they have not been able to succeed in over 2 years. The west has hopefully woken up from their slumber. They will not let Ukraine be conquered.
