Marvel Studios reportedly has canceled 3 main MCU movies they had planned as a part of their new plan moving forward for projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With new franchises like the Fantastic Four, The X-Men and Deadpool 3: Deadpool and Wolverine hitting the mcu soon, it looks like Marvel will shift their focus to these new main characters instead of giving some older Avengers the spotlight.

Instead of out and out canceling movies, why don't they concentrate on the writing of great stories first and foremost. Once you have an awesome story, and interpret it onto the big screen, the rest should fall into place.
It seems logical however I think that the way Hollywood has been for a while the tendency is to regard stories as IP to be exploited for the sake of the shareholders. If that’s the starting point then anything creative is an afterthought.
That's the point they can't produce great movies because they have reasoned they are spread to thin taking on many projects.
I'm amazed how such bad scripts are approved for such important films, even a 10 year old child writes a better script than Quantumania. And the person who writes it still earns millions for it, there really is something very strange behind the scenes at Marvel.
That is too much work for modern Hollywood writers. Despite having 6 decades of "Problematic" comic books for source material.
Eternals 2’s story would definitely move to Thor 5 & Avengers 5/6 with the first half of Judgement Day for the Gods of the MCU & the second half for the universe that would intersect with Kang’s invasion.
Another thing, cutting back on Volume of shows/movies isn't the *Real* issue here, the problem has been Lack of *QUALITY* in said shows/movies. If all the movies/shows were actually *GOOD*, the Fandom would embrace it. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The QUALITY has to improve, or you're still perpetuating the same problem
The quality deteriorated because of the quantity of projects they have been churning out at rapid fire speed. So reducing the quantity should, in theory, improve the quality. Fingers crossed

Quality declined because they're juggling with a lot more projects than per usual (Phase 1-3). Quality has a correlation with quantity, no rocket science here.
@@zeeshey no the quality dropped because they got bench warmer writers and directors to handle their Phase 4 and 5 IPS. Then you have the identity politics being thrown in there ontop of the very bad storywriting and boom you've got a failing Phase 4 and 5

I think they should do Eternals 2 to add more anticipation to a potential Celestials/Galactus arc, and Captain Marvel 3 Ragnarok style to redeem that franchise.
Eternals did get me even more hyped for Galactus and future Celestial encounters.
Yeah, I agree with Feige, and I also understand why the movie didn't do well monetarily. But the other side of this story seems much more intriguing, and the way they ended it introducing blade, there's a lot to work with.

Yeah for better or worse the eternals had such a massive event happen that it kind of needs a sequel. It's the one movie I most wish they never made and I really don't want to see a sequel or Harry styles as Eros, but how can they do this crazy thing with a celestial being half born from the earth and not address it ever again. It's already super weird that it hasn't even been mentioned in any of the other films can't really just pretend it didn't happen....or can they?
@batmanwins5701 tbh the 2nd time I watched the movie I thought it was pretty good. As far as Tiamut is concerned, I think it will be addressed in the upcoming Captain America 4 movie. But as far Arishem is concerned and him revealing himself to earth and kidnapping some of the eternals; that part definitely needs to be revisited. I'm sure it will come up somewhere because even though the sequel may be canceled, I definitely think we'll see them again somewhere
They could possibly tie up the "loose ends" in Secret Wars. Then there's the soft reboot that could reintroduce the Celestials (they create universes and this is the Multiverse Saga).

There was a report by Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineH saying that the film is transforming into another project which means it would be called Celestials: End of Time like what they did for The Marvels as the Captain Marvel sequel or transferring the storyline to Thor 5 or Avengers 5/6 & it isn’t necessarily cancelled. Its basically restarting from scratch on development.

I enjoyed the Eternal movie and was looking forward to a sequel. Marvel needs to not forget the fans that made the movies. Don’t just cancel movies, identify where they went wrong and then fix the problem. Movies are meant to be an escape from everyday problems not a reflection of them. I love Marvel Movies but it’s past time for them to remember that the fans make the movie. Don’t start a story then abandon it all while us fans are waiting for a resolution that never comes.

I am a bit concerned that Disney is asking them to lean into guaranteed hits. I don't really think there is any such thing. Especially when you have to account for both the Box Office and how streaming has effected things lately. Major, reliable franchises all made less money than expected last year (not just Marvel), while Barbie (which lets be honest, nobody pegged as the biggest hit of the year when it was put in production) made over a billion. I also don't want them to forget that one of their biggest risks was Guardians of the Galaxy, which is now a major franchise. I would much rather they lay out a long term plot, and figure out which characters and stories are important and stick to it. Backseat driving by the producers almost never works out. That said, it characters like Captain Marvel or Ant-Man aren't getting more solo movies, I hope they make an effort to weave them into the ongoing story. Ant-Man is the only one to meet Kang so far. Captain Marvel is still a major player in the comics and not that she is on earth I was hoping she would have more to do.

@@Kirasfox The hype didn't really start though until Greta Gerwig came onboard and even then, it was finally seeing footage that hooked people. I was talking about earlier when the idea of a Barbie movie was first in development. It spent years in development and went through several iteration that wouldn't have done as well. Disney is asking Marvel to make those decision about what is a guaranteed hit at that early stage, which is impossible to do with 100% accuracy.
Kinda sucks that we might not see a follow up to the eternals. It wasn’t the best marvel movie but out of the three that were reportedly cancelled, I feel like eternals at least deserves a sequel
Eternals directed by Chloe Zhao is my favorite MCU project to date. I enjoyed the film so much the cinematograpgy the SCORE, the cosmic scale, the diverse cast I love it all. I still see a sequal making it's way in Phase 6. Peace.

While it hasn’t been confirmed with original reports of it being scrapped & later reports that the project is transforming into a Celestial-centered project, the title would be called Celestials: End of Time but, the storyline could also transfer to Thor 5 for the War of the Gods storyline & Avengers 5/6 for the Eternals involvement with the new Avengers roster.
What’s funny, is that not as many people are going to the theatre anymore, because of overall costs of everything going up. Not many can afford it. I know I can’t. I haven’t been to see a movie, since before Covid. Wondering if the powers that be, are even thinking about this!!!

I have a well paying job and I haven't gone to see a movie in theatre since Dr. Strange 2. Paying over $20 for a movie with say pop corn here will cost over $35 for me. I rather spend that $35 on going out with friends to have a nice dinner or other activities.
Yea. We go a lot due to the AMC A-List as it makes cheap date nights and stuff to do a lot for low price. But if we had to pay for each individual movie we’d see s small fraction of the ones we go to.

I'm lucky in that both movie theaters in my small town have Tuesday night $5/$6 movies (now showing movies). I don't often go out to movies these days, but I still like to go to the big blockbusters if they look appealing.
I’d like to see Eternals 2… with a new director and writer, that world of the Eternals and Celestials they created has potential and it made just as much as Shang-Chi having been released in the midst of the pandemic in 2021.

I don’t feel that way. Ant-Man and Marvels felt more like set up for Secret Wars than sequels. Eternals was the only one that felt like it was setting up a direct sequel, hopefully they do address it somewhere.
I feel like we've heard this same story a few times now.
I feel like they need more stories of the Eternals, especially if they use them with the Xmen and Fantastic 4.
They will focus on the remains of Tiamut in Captain America 4 but for the Eternals, they are likely to appear in the sequel which hasn’t been officially confirmed yet despite reports of it being scrapped or transforming into a Celestial-centered project which is like what they did with Captain Marvel 2 for adding Ms. Marvel & Photon as The Marvels however, the storyline could also transfer to Thor 5 & the 2020s Avengers sequels.

I think Captain Marvel deserves a trilogy if only to wrap up her arch. The Marvels was a pivot in the right direction for her (although I didn't mind her characterization in her first film anyway) and now that's just going to be cut short. I'd love to see her go up against Rogue only for a kickass team-up at the end against a common foe.

Here's one of the biggest problems I have with Disney: The look at Quantumania and say "Oh, fans didn't like it, get rid of Kang" when Kang was the only real redeeming quality of that movie smh They need to look at *WHY* a particular movie didn't perform well, but also look at what fans *DID* like about that particular movie in order to be successful in the future. Disney doesn't seem to get that 🙄

I am sad to hear Captain Marvel 3 is cancelled. The Marvels wasn't thaaat bad, but if it had better writing, it would be been better. Sad to see Cap. Marvel story won't come to a full circle. I'm hoping she will appear in other projects though to at least give her character a full arc.

I’m all for changes but it’s crazy they have all these team members at the table and can’t see when things don’t work before the 208mil budget is blown. Then you get a half armed storyline and characters you want more of that now ever get fully explored.
Do you realize that a movie's theatrical gross intake needs to be *at least* DOUBLE it's *TOTAL* budget for it to "break even"? Roughly 50% of what a film makes in its theatrical run goes directly to the theaters that they're being shown at. The Marvels was a horrible *LOSS* for Disney. After all was said & done, it lost the studio over $100 *MILLION* 😮
Personally loved eternals. The visuals were beautiful. It ended on such a cliff hanger too, are we ever going to know what happens to sersi and the others? I'm sure Feige might have had something good planned for an eternals 2.

You have to remember post credits scenes don't always setup sequels, they set up future projects. I seriously doubt they will cut that thread completely.

Which I agree that the Eternals needs a sequel to get more of the celestials storyline. As long as they can write a good story then they should have nothing to be afraid of. Unless it is because fans are fickle and nothing meets anyone's expectations anymore or the studios need to find better writers .

Despite me not being a big fan of The Etenerals movie, I would love to see a followup movie. The characters in general are really interesting and one of the biggest problems with the first movie was the amount of new characters introduced to us. Now we already know them and with a few members out of the way, the movie could be more streamlined.Having two plotlines with Eros, Thena, Makkari, Druig and Pip trying to rescue the others, while Sersei, Phastos and Kingo explore some Celestial lore could work.

Venom 3 won’t be the last movie for Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe they might have changed the plans with Madame Web but they will definitely try again and I hope we get Eternals 2 I’m sure they will make it right this time around
finally, better story. It's very good not to include some agendas in the work except that film about that agendas. I hope the creative team understands more about the global audience
This makes sense IMO to not move forward with those movies based on the box office and the quality of those movies.

I don’t see why they cant just… give the characters better storylines rather than just scrapping potential future projects. Like i would have love to have scene a Civil War esc Captain Marvel movie between Carol and Sam or see if the eternals and or celestials have anything to do with the x gene in our current universe.
Interested in Aeros and Pip the Troll follow up. Interested in baby celestial in Indian Ocean. Interested in Erishem the Judge. Not interested in an Eternals 2.
If they are not important projects, then it really doesn't matter. I think they should do 3 movies a year and 2 shows a year. Favorite Hero: Batman
I thoroughly enjoyed both The Marvels and The Eternals. Especially will miss Eternals 2. It had SO much potential and I liked most all of the characters.
Comic readers are used to this. After a great run most comics hit a lull with fill on writers and artists until a popular team does their own new run. This phase is the lull before good writers and directors come back.
Eternal should show up in separate projects maybe a mini series 6 episodes. But it has left a thread open so surely they got explore that maybe blade etc black night midnight sons Hey you forget those ants were super intelligent.
I understand it is a business and they cannot just make movies based on my preferences 😂 But dang…I like the Marvels. It was a lighthearted nice film. Marvel didn’t need a homer they needed a base hit, and that was the marvels in my opinion. No Eternals is just weird…are we gonna pretend their isn’t a big Galacticus head poking out of Earth 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ Ant man getting 3 films was great! Just don’t do away with the Characters from the third one!
