Homemade Sheet Metal Bender
I have used 2.5 feet long 50/50, 4 mm thick angle iron to make this sheet metal bender.

  • Thanks for posting this. I just started making this now with a few changes. You have a 2 piece hinge, I’m using a 3 piece hinge. The center pin will be removable so I can separate the 2 angle iron pieces. The top clamp part that is held down with bolts I’ll be milling the leading edge so it’s flush with the metal that’s being bent so I can get a sharp angle at the bend, not a rounded one.

  • Weld a small rod over the hex bolts to make them wing nuts ,easier than using an allen key

  • Weld a washer or metal plate on top clamp bar under where screw down is. Makes for better clampdown. Have made many benders like this in past..Plus weld some spinner handles so dont need an allen key to tighten it up

  • I think the piece which sits on top eith the springs is wrong. It does not provide a bemding point at all. But you could just grind it flat (45 degrees) so it sit flush. That would be a huge improvement.
