From Baseball Camps In The Dominican Republic To The MLB | NBC Nightly News
So many of my people just trying to make it for their families. Dominicans are humble talented people. God bless the Dominican Republic.
I feel the same way I have had many Dominican friends over the years and love their culture, their nature, their family sticks together family first way of living their lives, I would love to travel there someday and experience the people who so many MLB teams cultivate and the sheer joy you see on these kids coming up is a joy. Like the joy I had playing as a child. Baseball is in the blood as I've heard Dominicans explain it to others who want to know about their ways & through seeing how dominant they are in the sport now on our national league level it the best!!! So happy being a Boston native that we have a team of players that are the best players and am proud that a majority of them are Dominican. I love Dominican people & their joy when playing is contagious. THey love the game and it shows! I am so happy that coming from a city who was the last to integrate out of all the teams in the USA (disgusting & dis race full Yawkee was!) But now we have the most talented and they are rightly in the majority because they are the best players!
I recently saw a baseball camp in Sosua, the kids were like 10-15 years old, it was so impressive how good they were and how hard they practice. God’s speed!
The Best DR🇩🇴😍❤️🌴
Saludos a los caribeños 🇨🇺🇩🇴🇵🇷 Tienen mucho talento y han puesto a los Latinos en alto.
Alfredo Arias: Former minor league pitcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Reached as far as High-A baseball. Arias develops good people first (if you attend his academy, you GO TO SCHOOL), and good ballplayers second. He is a fine man who is paying it forward in the Dominican Republic. Eight out of a hundred players signed by a MLB organization by the Arias y Goodman academy? The odds are great, so 8% is outstanding. Put it this way. If you take any hundred players from any high school or college program, the odds of the MLB drafting eight of them would be rare!
He also has a dark past that many people don’t know only those who know him close
Dominicans are best in the world in baseball. Plus it’s a beautiful country rich in culture. Bachata anyone?
Yeah and they must have a serial killer on the loose.

Hey NBC!!! You are always welcome to DR.
Love my country
"Good hands, good arm, and quick feet". This is what scouts, everywhere, are looking for. One does not need a stopwatch or metrics, or any sort of statistics to measure these attributes. At least at this point, the metrics come later. Also, aptitude and self discipline are very important. Is a student willing and able to learn? Can he retain information? Is he serious about learning English? Does he report to practices and such on time? We must give Latin American ballplayers who play in the States the utmost of admiration and respect.
dale mi amiguito , caminando derecho , alejado de las malas cosa y agarrado de dios (god bless)
Kids in the Dominican Republic spend long hours at the baseball field developing their skills from an early age. Not easy what they go through.
I wish him Luck
I love baseball
This is wonderful
what happens tothe ones who dont make it?
They exaggerate when he say extreme poverty Dominican Republic is the richest country in the Caribbean and most of the countries in Central America. It’s not that bad here it’s just not the 🇺🇸.

DR has Baseball & 80% positive Steroids test, just ask Tatis Jr
And American players don't? I got you
In all of Latin America we got great ball players people forget how good Mexico is !!
They can’t prey on young boys like that here.

I need to see the DNA results of all these Dominican players. A lot of Dominicans online have been cursing at me about Dominicans being a mixed race that is mostly European
Mansa Musa lol they basically black people that speaks Spanish
They’re European and African mixed
@@canival317isback You honestly think these guys are mixed 50/50 between African and European. Every Black person that has Ancestors from slavery are mixed with European.
Mansa Musa they’re probably not 50/50 because the other side of the “dominicans” are much lighter. I would say 30/70
@@canival317isback I agree. What do you consider them racially? Do you think 30% is enough to be considered mix?
Chengdu, ChinaChengdu, ChinaChengdu, China
"Vitamin B shots"". sureeeeeeee
Child abuse! 9 hrs of training a day...😥
It's called devotion to the sport. Kids do this all over the country, in the U.S. I do about 7 hours of non stop throwing, batting and catching. It's not abuse, it's a choice

I knew it. Dominicans are indeed black.
We give attention ti skin color. It will depend on the region. North side are light skin like me.
These people aren’t ethnically Dominicans they are Cocolos
@@WarrenFearchildCocolos are still Dominicans, just like the chinese that sell pica pollo are Dominican. This is part of the diversity of Dominican Republic. DR is a product of colonization, there is no such thing as a ethnic Dominican.
Great. Play baseball in the DR. American kids would like to play pro ball. Why do we need them ? It's not a sport, it's a business.
we need them because american kids are not as good and do not have the same work ethic. DR has the best Baseball players in the world.
Fernando M The awards and hall of fame show other wise. USA have the most awards won and Asia and USA are both winning the world ranks in baseball you can look it up.
Chen if you watch the minors you can see that every team is formed of maybe 30 percent of Latinos and the Dominican is less than 20 million so that’s insane
Gwappo Just because 30 percent how many are from the USA? And how much money was contributed by the USA money to fund the programs that the players desperately need to get better. Like i said USA and Asia are at the top. You can say whatever you want but definitely look at who are winning the awards and the titles.
@@chen5237 Also if you knew some Spanish and could listen you would know the DR has the most players in the MLB out of every other Latin country.
what happens tothe ones who dont make it?
They are killed.
