It also works by pushing the 1st and 2nd pieces through the cylinder in opposite directions. Once you can see the two notched rings inside the cylinder and understand the mechanics of how its working you're on the home straight. 20-25 mins to take apart, 10 mins to put together.

It took me about 50 minutes to get apart, I have to confess I got lucky in the fact that the first piece to drop down was the correct piece that allowed the rings to turn. About 15 minutes putting it back together.
Nice! I love when that happens! But if it happens once and you don't know it's only one spot, it can be a little frustrating the next time you go to solve it and it doesn't work. :)

There is a faster way to find Jim. When one piece drops you can look at other pieces sides a little. You can find Jim by only moving one part up and down. That means I use maximum of 3 moves instead of 6. And after finding Jim you have 2 ways to solve the puzzle. The funny thing is that you took it apart with method one (first part goes out the same direction that Jim is going - down) but you put it back together with method two (Jim is up but last part comes from the bottom).

Thanks I know Mr. Puzzle has a video on it, seen it and still confused as the Trinity is hard to solve. I enjoy these vids but I'm trying not to watch as it spoils the fun of solving. I have 20 Hanayama puzzles, solved most of them but that one is a doozy!

I was gifted this puzzle after I bought the maze one and I got super cocky because that one is harder than this one. I thought I could take this apart and back together in 15 minutes. Boy was I wrong 😂 My partner had a field day watching me struggle
First cast puzzle ive bought and I took it apart in about 10 minutes. Took two days and this video to get it back together though...

took 1 or 2 hours to take it appart, took 5minutes to put it back. Also, the piece that helped me most was not "Jim" but Hanayama piece. Dunno if i'm alone on this one
The Hanayama Piece is definitely one of the four most important parts :)

No clue if you’ll respond to a comment like this but I think I broke mine and I’m not sure what to do. I looked up your video because I got literally stuck. I took one piece out, and now I can’t move the pieces at all. It’s Jimmy and the piece that says “cylinder” that are still stuck. I can’t move them whatsoever without being super forceful. I think I somehow broke it but I don’t know what I did? I wasn’t being forceful with moving the pieces around at all.
I honestly don't know what to do if they get really stuck like that. Maybe try some wd40 to get them moving. It sounds like they might just be jammed together. Best of luck!

Bought this one after the hanayama padlock I couldn’t solve. Did this one on the first time. 5 minutes to disassemble and an hour to put back.

Yep, the same for me. I got lucky and disassembled it in 5 minutes just by fiddling with it without to much thought. But because of that luck on the disassemble I spend 1 hour to figure out how to put it back together :)
