    • This puzzle has a lot of different, beautiful merges aside from the original setup. I really enjoyed it a lot but I have to agree with you. You can definitely tangle it up in such a way that you would rather throw it in a corner than keep trying to solve it :)

  • This hanayama puzzle was a bit too much for me, I got it apart but could not put it back together. I looked at some video solutions on youtube and most of them are really hard or impossible to follow. This quartet solution video is IMHO the best available, thank you

    • Same. I bust it out occasionally thinking I'll get it back together but never do. I'm a pretty big puzzle fan, and this is literally the only one in my lifetime I can't get, even with help. I'd seriously pay someone 20$ to put it back together for me so I can finally let it go.

  • It really blows my mind that someone can look at a puzzle like this a figure out a solution to it all on their own. I can solve q few different rubix cubes, but that's bc I learned the algorithms. It's crazy for me to think that someone sat down one day and figured out those algorithms for the first time all in their head. I spent a long time analyzing this puzzle, moving one piece and seeing how that configuration restricted or enabled the movement of other pieces, really trying to make sense of it. But my brain was no match for it and after watching this tutorial I realized I would have never figured it out. For me this was a good lesson in mental limitations. I like to think of myself as an intelligent person and I excell in many different aspects of life that other people find hard, but in the realm of intuitively solving 3 dimensional puzzles like this I have no inherent skill whatsoever. And that's ok, it's a humbling experience

Easiest solution + 2 different solutions" When I found this one I about crapped myself. In relation to this reassembly it is 1000 Times simpler. Sorry for being a critic but I stumbled onto a reassembly myself so I knew there had to be something just a bit simpler than your solution. It's when I was trying to reassemble it the 2nd time that I decided to look up a few videos.

  • I can solve this easy, have been able to for years, but I hate it more than almost all of the hanayama puzzles: There is nothing “puzzle” about it, you just jam together the pieces a bunch of times until it comes apart. The solution should be hard, but simple, but the quartet is hard, and super complicated. That is why I hate it.

    • @@EricBuffington Well don't forget Hanayama is a Japanese company and Japan still embraces the swastika for its ancient origin and religious ties. A lot of debate has been going on about it from both supporters and condoners. theoutline.com/post/6998/buddhist-temple-swastika-japan-maps-olympics-2020?zd=1&zi=vtrbqbgm Furthermore Quartet makes a left facing swastika. "There is the right facing swastika, or the one highjacked by the Nazi party, which represents the evolution of the universe (pravritti), and the left-facing swastika, which symbolizes the involution of the universe (Nivritti, the process that allows creation to happen). The left facing swastika is most commonly known as a symbol of Buddhism, and is used on maps to indicate a Buddhist temple, and the symbol is still found on many ancient temples, and other works of art." psychology.knoji.com/the-left-facing-swastika/
