    • Like he says in the video. these were not meant as puzzles at first. They were invented to make it so no one person could open a given lock. To me this isn't a puzzle, it is a really cool conversation item, that is just very neat and interesting in design. I wouldn't mind owning one.

  • Oh man - they really did a great job on the finish of that first step! I reccon they probably first machined it to perfectly matching mating surfaces, then finished the surfacing of the side walls with both parts joined together, so striations etc would blend seamlessly. This must have been a delicate task - working flat surfaces is one thing, but this is basicly a bolt, or rather the inner race surface of a bolt head. Meaning you can't access the whole surface in one go, you need to work your way around. Even a lathe or cnc won't be microscopically perfectly balanced, and you would pretty much need that for the seamless joint to remain after 4-5 "unlock" cycles. This is awesome.

    @pr0xZen@pr0xZen6 жыл бұрын
    • pr0xZen it's brass so perhaps they could hammer out any little gaps before brushing the surface... but it's a well hidden joint however it was done.

  • A really elegant puzzle, I'd say the difficulty would even be as low as 2 out of 5, since the first step is the only obvious interaction between the keys and the lock: the square hole in the key and the square protrusion at the bottom. But it's neat that the gap where it unscrews is so well disguised, and each subsequent step flows naturally, guiding you to the solution. Great design and ingenuity.

  • I give this puzzle a 1/5 . If you have common sense you instantly would two n two together that the the key with the center in the shape of the square matches that of the base of the lock. From there..if you continue to have common sense you can easily figure out the rest. +Mr.Puzzle but fun video as always !

    • Filipe Moniz No... They don't. That's not how it works. You can monetize a video as long as you are in the KZhead Partner Program. I was wrong, however. The video is indeed monetized. This does not mean he made it 10 minutes for that reason. All 10 minutes does is allows midroll ads.

    • If they wanted to make it difficult, they wouldn't make the puzzle steps so obvious and sequential. The only trick to the puzzle was the key and it wasn't even that hard to find.

    • Actually I would have made the heads of the other two keys similar but made the square in the head slightly smaller. That way those two would LOOK the same, but but lack the functionality of the first. The alternative would have been to make the heads of the other two keys look something like their unlocking mechanism on the bottom. That would have disguised the functionality of the head of the first key and made it look ornamental instead.

  • The hole in the key is really distinctive, so I immediately thought of using it to unscrew the bottom part. I guess the reason they used brass for its construction is because it fits together so perfectly as to not leave a line.
