The cylinder puzzle is one of my favourite puzzles so far. The possibilities of movement are huge and the solution itself is very satisfying.
To start the cylinder solution, you have to line up both dials until one of the middle parts drops through.
Once you have the right piece through you clamp down on the dial pieces and rotate the three middle pieces anti-clockwise until a second piece falls through.
Then all you need to do finish the cylinder puzzle solution is hold the top dial and rotate the bottom dial until the second piece falls out.
Then simply disassemble the remaining pieces.
There you go! The Cylinder puzzle solution!

  • I always solve and re assemble on my own the first time. Then I come watch videos to learn what I did and exactly how the puzzle works lol. Great job!

  • I have just rediscovered the larger (and probably more recognizable) entanglement puzzles. These small works of art are a new discovery for me. I solved this cylinder puzzle quicker than I imagined I would but, reassembly was more difficult than the solve! Do you have a video that talks about all of the puzzles on the table behind you? I have several new puzzles coming just based on the boxes I saw in the background. Thank you for your detailed walkthrough!

  • 15 minutes to solve it! And 10 to reassembling. My first puzzle like that 🤟

  • Thank you for making this video. Now I solved it after 6 years since this cylinder had been on a shelf. Now I started to teach my 5 years old daughter how to do it. Kudos man! 👏🏻 Subscribed!

  • Awesome videos !^__^! Thanks for putting them out there and making them so accessible to watch and use. My son and I just got into the Hanayama puzzles (so far Trinity, Ugo, Dial, and now Cylinder) We both love puzzles in general and love to fiddle with stuff, and we are watching your vids together to help us out. I'm an avid toy collector, so me knowing myself I'm sure that I'll end up with most of what they make sooner or later - guess that means my son and I are going to spend some quality Youtubing time together ^,,,,^ Thanks again!

    • Thanks Joshua, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! You've picked some of the hardest Hanayama puzzles there, Cylinder is one of my favourites. I'd recommend Enigma, it's hard but it's also pretty awesome.

    • @@RossDM Ha! Yeah, I go for the overall aesthetics with some legitimate challenging aspects - the UFO was the most trying for my patience, but I could only really be frustrated with myself - because of that it does force me to be in a much more meditative state and find my inner zen ^,,,,,,,^ Thanks again for all of your comprehensive videos - I know that it's a lot of work, but most things that are worthwhile are. I think that the worth of puzzles like these is more than entertainment if you let it be - in one sense you can almost convert life situations to the model. For example, if you are having a difficult situation in life that just doesn't seem moveable, look outside of the routine patterns and see it in a creative and unexpected way. Also, the metaphor could go into understanding deeper meanings and underpinnings below the deceptive and simple looking surfaces. I don't know, it was just a thought, haha!

    • @@joshuamorris4565 Love it! I agree, problem solving is an extremely important life skill. Those who are the best in their fields and succeed the most are usually the ones who apply problem solving and thinking outside the box to their craft. I appreciate the depth and the compliment. Thanks!

    • @@RossDM For sure !^__^! Oh yeah, I am going to pick up Enigma most certainly (I didn't realize that they made so many until I started researching them!), and Hourglass just came in today, so that's going to occupy us for awhile ^,,,,,,^ (H&H will be here shortly too)

  • Today I got it. Managed to solve and reassemble it, but via completely different approach. Appears it has two possible ways of disassemble and assemble. What I did was to push one of the pieces in each direction. Then twist and pull the third. Reassemble works the same way reversed.
