Classic Glider Flight - The Ultimate Freedom

Flying the classic Schulgleiter 'SG' 38 in Eutingen im Gäu "EDTE".
We present it there once a year for the "Mobile Legenden" classics Festival & Airshow. It's an absolute pure feeling of gliding compared to modern gliders. Flying long distances/ cross country for me is a challenge and I love it, but with the SG38 its a short but awesome time to enjoy.
Reasons why I flew with the suit is cause I came back to the airport after grandmas birthday and decided to fly it dressed like I am - plus a cylinder. The lion of my little sister was obviously hungry for a ride too so I took him with me.
A big thank you to all the people around helping me and my dad aero towing me up.
Everything filmed with GoPro Hero 4 black & silver.
I usually use the settings 1080S with 30fps or higher. Wide just in one clip I had it accidentally on narrow.

  • As a sailplane pilot myself, I have watched many videos of pilots flying $100K gliders and was getting bored with it. This video is a pure delight -- the real joy of flying! And for those of you that think the pilot is crazy: from what I can tell, the aircraft is well designed and constructed, albeit minimalist, and the pilot well trained. I think the biggest risk he faced was walking his glider back to park it (after landing) while barefoot, and getting his foot stung by a bee.

    • @Joe Devola No, because there's no evidence at all that we are reincarnated or have past lives. Everything we know or remember is stored in the brain, so when die that brain rots away. So how, would your memories transfer to a new body if reincarnation were to be a real thing? Better to go on the reasoned assumption that you only get one life, don't waste it believing there will be anything else, savour every moment like it's your last, because in reality, it is.

Remember my late father's stories how he learned in the 1930's to fly in a kind of glider like this .but it had a beam in front of your head . first lessons only sitting in it and holding the wings level. followed by a cable starts and each time some higher. till they were allowed to go high enough and disconnect from the cable
