"What is football?" "That is correct." "No, seriously, what is football?"
The world's most popular sport
@@ozumsauce2605 yeah, but this is the shit football. We love the good football, not this American bs

Football=Soccer not in America 🏀⚽️🇺🇸
Mike George where does the basketball come from
I like how they did literally everything else on the board first
I watched this whole show (and then youtubed it later since I KNEW it was ultra-clippable haha), noticed them never picking this one, and after they were finally forced to go through it went "welp that makes sense now". Know your weaknesses!
Intellects very rarely watch sports lol
Smart move.
Friends from their high school: “Want to watch the football game tonight?” Contestants: “No I have to study so I can win on Jeopardy some day.”
The irony.
Welp 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One eventually did💀
Hahaha
I was an AB student in high school, and I got EVERY ONE of these correct
BTW, Alex was so confident that nobody would get the last clue that he didn't even bother with the times up signal. He just said "No you're not getting this. We're going to commercial." RIP Alex
Alex could be a legit savage at times. That's what we're missing from Ken and Mayim. Mayim stinks, so that's a given. Ken isn't savage as well as Alex was.
@@uncreative5766 I agree. Ken has really grown on me.

Nati Tesfaye wish granted

Got eem
Okay but Fischer and McAdoo were both good coordinators. Jackson, not so much.
How does this comment not have more likes?
I think Jeff Fisher had 16 questions, he could probably get like 7 right.
Ken Jennings referenced this on tonight's (09/13/2022) episode - after the contestants got the clues in the football category correctly, he said something like "and you all won't end up in a viral video about football!" This has become one legendary moment from the show.
What’s a hoe?
I'm glad they didn't get the last answer. I do not want him to die. OH NO! 😔
Bruce Wayne He said i will die
At his age, he totally could too!
Oh no

Oh you must be so PROUD
No you wouldn't have. even if you still got it right the third place winner only wins $1,000
wowokthatisfine boi fuck!
But u dint make any money amd dint win so ur comment means nouthimg same with this is a trol lol
All 3 contestants are actually ex-football players suffering from CTE.
CTE?
CTE? Please explain.
It’s a brain condition.
Suzanne Thomas Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Caused by multiple concussions. I don’t think you can be diagnosed with it until your dead. Many people suspect former Steeler/Raider and Patriot Antonio Brown has it because he shows an awful lot of signs after a head injury he had.

My grandma was screaming at her TV, when she watched this episode.

Just like George Floyd lmao
@@oliverb.3759 Ohhhhhhh!!
@@oliverb.3759 That's not funny.
I'm thinking their results would have been different if the category had been "Talkin' Quidditch"
Now that's funny
Josh Holc, would be a more interesting sport to watch too.
That’s funny because there was a category about quidditch the other day on Jeopardy!
Most hilarious comment here. Kudos sir.
@@DanteBrian Really? A "sport" in which almost everyone on both teams flies around pointlessly, scoring points that mean nothing, until one of the players catches a winged ball that appears out of nowhere and wins the game?
What Alex demonstrated totally naturally here is genuine and classy sense of humor.

No 🧢
That was such a dark prediction!
The fact that they didn't run out of time for this category and it being the last meant that they went by the others quickly and really avoided this one...haha
I was just thinking that & now want to find this episode lol
The lines said by Alex in this category made me laughing all the way to the floor. No lie on that way.
Watched this last night. Hilarious! Glad I'm not the only one who knows absolutely nothing about football.

It’s hilarious how done Alex is with all three of them because they don’t know the answer. 😂😂😂
"Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?"
Whenever people go to temple or go to church, they sing ... Kinky Boots!

As an enormous NFL fan this was excruciating 😂
alex trebek is the best
Al Czervik Trebek is really relaxed when he's not on camera, like when he's talking to the audience during commercial breaks, but he has to have that persona when they film. Never seen him snark that much on a contestant before though, but it was all in good fun. Proof: I was on the show back in 2014.
Of course, he has the answers. Someone must verify that the contestants are right or wrong. But not everyone could deliver the information as he does as often difficult names need to be pronounced, sometimes foreign languages are involved, and sometimes clever responses are in order. I think he is a class act.
I. Will. Die. 😂😂😂😂
Thanks man, I appreciate it
RIP Alex Trebek
I actually watched the live airing of this with family. Football is big in our house. We couldn't believe no one even attempted to answer.
Imagine if the last clue was the Daily Double XD
Lol
I love how went through the whole thing with a straight face
I've never seen a full game of football, and I got 3 right.
"If you guys ring in and get this one, I will die..." That hits bad now.
The *_"Purple People Eaters"_* is the single greatest nickname in the entire history of humanity.
RIP to a legend
The category should be called "Tacklin' Football".
James woulda crushed this whole category
Great contestants overall; They ran through the rest of that board like a hot knife through butter!
Not sure if you were the same Dennis Coffey who just appeared on the show. If so congratulations, it was nice to see someone from Maine own the stage for a few days. If not, my apologies.

I knew the fair catch one that's it.
This is hilarious. I was able to answer every question correctly... I normally don't watch Jeopardy since it's so tough, and makes me feel like an idiot!
To be fair if the category was early Victorian Era artists they would have done better than most football fans.
1:32 Look at how they turn to each other like, "I had no idea what any of those were." Same here. These are my people. I wonder how they did on more interesting categories?
Alex: I will die. That line killed me! 😂😂😂 But sadly, that's also what he did a couple years later. RIP Alex. As serious as this show is with you, it also had its laughs with you and your humor.
"I have to talk to them..." Miss you Alex!!!
1:23- I WILL DIE!!!
I’ve never seen anything more relatable.
At our school, the debate team played a football game and the football team had a debate match. It was hilarious!
I guess someone finally answered a football clue correctly. RIP Alex.

I hope that when I get on Jeopardy! I can get a category like this with non-football fans by my side.
I LOVE when Alex Trebek gets pissed off, lol
"Your Choice: Do or Don't" Contestants:"How bout we don't....for the entire category"

Holy Crap! That's the first time I've ever seen them ignore the "buzz-in timer" and say, well your never going to get it anyway so, moving on.
I heard they actually re-recorded or re-edited this or something to make it flow better on TV. It definitely worked :)

Why are people in the comments so proud to be ignorant on the subject? I have many interests, such as literature, world history, philosophy, etc. Football happens to be one of them. Is it an it an invalid interest because of the typical jock and sports fan stereotype? It's actually quite complex, and rewarding to watch with a deeper level of analysis.
I absolutely agree with you.. I also have a strong interest in philosophy, but also sports such as hockey. One of my somewhat close friends is very into history...but an ardent opponent of sports in general and hates it if I ever bring it up. Its especially cool to have the super bowl in my home state of MN this year yet this friend couldn't care less about it.
I can't see what makes sports so enthralling, to be honest. I mean, it's kinda interesting not knowing what's gonna happen next, but I don't understand what about it gets people hooked, so I kinda feel that I'm left out or looked down upon by sports fans for my dirt-level knowledge of sports. I'm still deeply interested in mathematics (I'm currently taking calculus in HS) and I enjoy analyzing history in World and writing argument essays for English class. So when these guys on Jeopardy who are at least ten times smarter than me can't answer a single question about football, it makes me feel a lot better about myself. I'm sure anyone who doesn't know sports well can relate to that.
Kelby LeSage No one really has an issue with people not liking sports. The issue is when they are bashing sports fans because they watch sports, as if that is the least productive thing you can do. Watching KZhead is the same as watching sports, so people calling out sports fans for being lazy are hypocritical.
Lag Maker We must come from differing experiences then. Most people where I'm from are pretty much either apathetic about sports or enjoy sports. People like it, or they just don't care, although some people, myself included, aren't exactly enamored by the size of the paychecks. I haven't come across anyone who is super critical of sports fans, although that may be because my state's sports teams are all centered in the cities while I live in the more rural end of the state. The only criticisms I've witnessed, which are by no means common, are about the sports themselves.
@Lag Maker you'd have a salient point, except the sole point of this video is to bash people for not knowing something that a lot of people Couldn't Possibly Care Less About. Turnabout bashing is fair play.
Would've gotten all these and put myself in 2nd place. And I'm pretty well versed in the lower values of some subjects so it would've given me a chance to win.
man, rip buddy. thank you for this great memory.
The first time ever i was able to clear a category on jeopardy
i remember watching this episode, i laughed so hard tho

I mean, any category is easy when you're knowledgeable in it. Unlike me...
I would've gotten all of those

I wonder if that saying is mentioned in his gravestone!
Alex really made me laugh watching this. I miss him so much
rest in peace, you beautiful man
Im so glad hes back and doing well :)
For those of you that are proud of of not watching sports, just remember that Jeopardy is a TRIVIA game so it's important to have a WIDE range of knowledge. I would consider myself to be smart and got all of these questions right because I'm a football fan. I sent this to a very smart friend who only watches the Superbowl and he still got 4 of them right because it is good to have basic knowledge of any topic, whether you are interested in it or not.
Football was never my thing, so I was just as clueless as these three. Hehehe...I did know quite a bit of other clues, though. Like the term "British Invasion" referring to a real event during the War of 1812 and the 1964 popularity of the Beatles that was a clue for Final Jeopardy!. Took me a few seconds, but I managed to pull that one out of the hat.
Yeah that one was so easy!
I'm not gonna shocked if they will be used again for the remaining games of Champions Wildcard S37/S38.
I knew option play but couldn't think of what it was called, got Cowboys, and fair catch.
