  • What is painful is not just that you will stop exercising for a period of time, but rather that the knee will most likely not return to what it was.

Musameci was "kind" that he switched the approach and did not do further damage. It is a combat sport after all and that means dangerous techniques are at hand. You can't expect someone to just gently apply a leg lock and the fight is won, it is the responsibility of the defeated guy to tap and don't let false proud stand in your way.

You may even find it 'just unconfortable'. Arm bars on the other hand will be very excruciatingly painfull when executed. My point is, as we all saw, you can continue on without fully comprehending what's happened to you when your knee is twisted. My advice is top be very carefull and aware when sparring/competing. Avoid trying to continue if you're securely caught in a leg lock move. These injuries aren't worth it.

  • I believed he was joined by the warrior spirits of his ancestors to never quit, its a pride though he kept his ground eventhough his last option is to tap. Bieng a fighter better tap then fight another day, than to end up with a broken knee. Respect though

    @undefeated0-0-09@undefeated0-0-097 ай бұрын
    • That is why pride is just absurd in most cases. There is nothing damaging to one's pride to get beat by a world class champion and if anything it adds something to be proud of. The only thing not tapping did that was positive was show the rest of the world how foolish it was. Not only did the guy lose the match but he had to do a lot of therapy, couldn't train for an extended amount of time and couldn't take any other matches for a fairly long time due to the amount of time needed to recover. All of that could have been avoided by doing the wise thing vs foolish thing and just tapping before important things started getting torn.

  • The fighters want to win. The ref is the person who judges when it should stop. If anything, Mike was wondering why the judge didn't do a stoppage. Mike clearly was putting Gantumar's knee and foot through the ringer. Permanent damage.
