Ur mom
Put a rotary in the S14 😁
The high subie
AE86... which was not in the video, then S14, then Hi Z, then Low Z
ROTARY IN THE S14!!!!!
Do a series of fixing them all!!
Again!
Start off with the Zs
@@siegewolf7834 Nah, they should do them in the order they entered the channel.
Call it lather, fix, repeat. Yall will be doing that last step quite a bit
@@TheRealBiggusDickus lol
This is literally the intro for the new season of Money Pit. Every car can be its own episode/s. Its a win-win.. we get videos, you get good content and your cars running again!
Dude that would be awesome, I'm surprised they mentioned earlier the baffles and whatnot are boring because that's why I liked Money Pit, real down to earth car stuff
Yesssss. More Money Pit plz!
that’s a great idea!! like this comment so we could get donut to do a new money pit season!!!!
Win/win/win 😂😂
I agree. Start with the Miata just because it's the main Money Pit car.
2:00 change both of that for a fueltech, Best ecu and display
Nolan has really stepped into his role in DM. Super cool to see, well done man
imagine a tabletop RPG focused around cars DM can also mean Dungeon Master, a commonly used term in tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons
I think Zach's s14 would be a good first fix, lots to cover and a great car to have fun with when finished EDIT: dang this blew up, Donut better be looking at how much support our boy Zach is getting. Let's see that S14!
and it's his personal money pit.. :)
New money pit series!!
This please
The likes this guy will receive will count as a vote to do a money pit
+1 for S14 Money Pit
Even the “boring” mods we’d still like to see. Episodes being longer aren’t a bad thing at all because we enjoy watching you guys together and the cars.
Long videos are bad for the algorithm, that’s why they stay around 10-25
Totally
totally agree bro
@@ethancameron4753 make a second channel for them or post them on parteron

I always wanted to get into car mechanics but was daunted by all the information. You guys have always done an amazing job explaining everything in a fun and easy to understand way and can't wait to see future content. Makes me want to get started and put in work on my car!
You can fix the first 2 problems using a FuelTech in the Miata. 1:26
Definitely a series fixing them all starting with the easiest, and slowly moving to the hardest
That would rocks 👍👍
Yea and I would say, don't even worry too much about the team themselves doing it, even if you got in some help to get them all going again and just did some "fix update" videos that'd be fun and leave the crew for the "fresh content".
This channel is unique in that it truly highlights how things will go wrong with cars, the work and guys here are way more relatable because of it. Wish I had these guys when I was doing everything to my first car... Frustration lol
That's the response I'm looking for
8:25 most of not all overland builds are extremely heavy. Solution to squatting is a different spring rate and re gears👍🏻
I'd love to see a DONUT REHAB series where you fix up all the cars around the shop and then do some big top-gear like challenge among all the hosts. Maybe assign cars to teams like so and so gets low z so and so gets Zach's Silvia and make them compete to make the most drivable, livable cars. Not a top gear challenge for who's got the fastest car but rather for who's got a good daily
lmao at "donut rehab": WE FUCKED UP THESE CARS WITH CAR DRUGS, NOW WE'RE GONNA FIX EM"
Holy shit this is a genius idea I'd kill to see that
I hope they do this 😱
@@Fyre0 longer episodes where they are working on the cars sounds like a good idea. I'd watch that.
Would love that. The question is, do they keep the challenge somewhat local or use it as an excuse to have a crew holiday? I know they're pretty big on KZhead, but that last one still requires a shocking amount of $$$ 😅.
Would be fun to see a series of easiest fixes to hardest.
The new Hi low series.
I second this! Will start off fast with quick episodes and end with longer more suspenseful videos.
This
I feel they should work on each car at a time. Doing all the hard stuff with all the cars might have a bottleneck effect.
The Miata issue is likely due to vibration loosening the connection Using a heatshrink wrap or coating the bitch (connection) silicone/epoxy (you want to be VERY sure it’s well seated in the connection if you’re gonna epoxy it though) should work pretty well for that I’d go for heatshrink because you can always take it off easily without mess tbh The inelastic nature of the coating epoxies have a very high resistance to deformation( i.e. high young’s modulus) but they don’t have much capacity for elastic deformation before they plastically deform (i.e. change of shape that doesn’t revert upon removal of forces); so over time it’d potentially fail and need to be replaced depending how hot it gets and how bad the vibration is plus some get decently hot as they cure and you don’t want to fuck the coating of the wires or you might get a grainy picture or signal issues from the magnetic fields of the wires in proximity to each other That elastic nature helps hold the connection in too when the materials heat cycle during and after use (and expand/contract) Not knowing how fast you’re going easily would make it hell for not getting pinged be speed cameras
What's broken on my car? clutch pedal sounds _exactly_ like 1:36 also: I loved this vid. nice work, guys
One of the best parts of this channel is that you show, things go wrong. problems come up, even with kits made to fit. I remember watching Nolan when they were having so many issues getting the Nissan going and he lost it. He was human, he was us, the audience. Being relatable makes you a better channel than shows that just gloss over the issues and problems. We love cars, but things we love will cause problems, its the passion to make it better that we all share.
yep. reminds me of how NIGHTRIDE has been showing the "boring" stuff lately instead of all of the fun and exciting things
Well said
beuatifully written, and fully accurate!
I remember you having a positive opinion on the digital dash in the "is it worth it" video that featured it. It would be cool if y'all did a "long term update" on some of the mods y'all have done to see if any others have proven not so great, or better than expected over the years.
Agreed. They were fans of the cheap suspension on Low WRX too, but that opinion seems to have soured in time.
Intercoolers and baffles aren't boring. Don't dumb down your content - we want detail!
Right. I'm here for it.
THIS
yes!
Especially when they're going to catch a lot of flak when people think it wasn't done!
Yessir
6:18 The fitment on low car looks absolutely perfect in that shot. Coming from someone who thinks a lil bit of poke is perfect
I think it's important for people to see this, and not get the wrong impression of what modified cars are like to live with. Especially with the "low" cars some people might get the idea that they can make some serious performance gains for cheap but it's never that simple and quite often, even with expensive high quality mods as we see with the "high" cars, these cars spend more time being worked on than being driven. Taking a 300hp sports car, giving it 500hp and keeping up with supercars down the straights is relatively easy. Making that car start every time you turn the key, making everything that's not the engine still work as it did before, and having it run smoothly so you can drive it home after the race is easier said than done and quite often these modified cars are never completely sorted out and just end up as track cars because the owner has just had enough and bought something else (stock) to daily drive.
Seeing Miata and S14 made me nostalgic.. Money pit was a great show
I like how videos like these are basically talking to the donut community. It lets us know that you are listening, and that means a lot. Thanks guys, and I hope to see more amazing content from ya'll!
3:32 Ol' Hank not liking that 😂
I had the same problem with my MSM with the Megasquirt. Take a look into the acceleration enrichment settings. Helped me smooth things out a ton, no more bucking.
MORE S14 Content PLS, bring it back to LIFE! it deserves it
The next highlow should be making the Tacos into some small trophy trucks. Give them some more power and do some brake mods, even more suspension mods, and some chassis reinforcements. Sort of how you took the original HiLow Zs and made them even better the second time around.
I like that
also please actually tell us all the mods your doing to the car, we want to know and you dont havce to spend the whole vid on it
Yeah then say they suck
The next Hi/Low should be DRAG CARS!!! A couple of foxbody mustangs
YES
(4:20) "And Nolan"; bro is broken too, will take some time 😂
@4:00 it aint got no gas innit
As much as I am not a truck person, this really inspires me to get a project truck instead of another project car.
The best part of a truck is not having to jack it up to get to the oil drain plug.
@@chasm9557 you also get to spend more time at the gas station (speaking from experience)
Lifted trucks and mini trucks are hands down the best cars I’ve owned. I love my 94 D21. Everything on it works BUT the odometer and it just goes for days and gets great gas. Just high enough to get under it too. Or send a small child to do the work under it
Trucks are usually built tougher than cars as well. Seeing as they have to stand up to more because of why they were built.
@@elijahmontgomery4146 Body on frame vs unibody right there IMO
I have a 03 Mustang GT I daily drive. Last week the clutch cable shredded so I spent 2 hours replacing that. Yesterday I replaced both front lower ball joints. Next week I’m replacing the rear passenger axle shaft with a TEN performance axle shaft. I have a 1990 Wrangler outback that needs the head pulled and gasket replaced. We are all in the same boat. It’s love/hate. But the reward when it’s all going well even if it’s a short time is overwhelmingly satisfying. ✌🏻
I like the idea of a series about fixing all of the old cars. Someone mentioned doing it in chronological order, which would be cool and easy to map out
Some of my favorite donut videos are the ones where you guys are upgrading or fixing your cars, so I'd watch any video where you're working on any of these. Especially when you go into detail on how its done and what its doing for the car.
Yeah I don't understand that they didn't cover the oilpan and cooling upgrades on the subies, but instead made the same wish/aliexpress video three times.
@@heygek2769 it’s because they are straight up lying about installing a baffled oil pan. They don’t want people to realize how little they know about cars and how little effort they put into researching these projects. Donut Media has been trash since they were bought out. 🤡
Like the old school tnt and speed shows from cable. But on cars for our generation. Love it
More Money Pit please. I learned a lot from the miata season, there was a number of great practical lessons.
I loved the money pit miata series
Off road money pit
When projects stack up, you're always best off to start with the one that matters to you the most. Once she's fixed, it's like finishing a good book and it's onto the next.
I feel your pain, i got a 2006 Dodge Dakota, 3.7l V6 4 speed Automatic RWD Extended Cab. It has almost 300k on the odometer It needs a complete new suspension, it burns oil so needs a engine rebuild or a new one, it has no reverse so it needs a new transmission, because of the oil situation it need new exhaust, also needs like new sensors and such, it probably needs a new rear axle. Basically needs everything from the engine back. But she runs everyday and has never left me stuck, so even with all her flaws i love her
I've been waiting for a follow-up on the Silvia for what feels like forever. PLEASE, can we get more content on that car. I want to see this thing become the JDM drift monster we've been waiting for

I love watching these types of Donut videos. I always have to fix things on my cars, and I also tend to beat on them.
You guys should try to do an episode or a series where you guys start out with some cheap hot boi cars and mod them to your preference with a budget. Then track them against each other as you mod them or something I don't know I didn't really think it through. It would kind of be like Hi-Lo but instead of picking top tier and low tier upgrades, you would be able to modify whatever you want within the budget for that episode or maybe you could put a restriction on what upgrades would have to be getting upgraded per episode like power or handling. IDK just spitballing. Love your show and love your podcast.
So a versus. That would be cool. Make the teams set the budget create the content
@@downwithtrudeau yeah. Like the cars wouldn't even have to be the same car. The budget would just be there and then they could pick a car within that budget and then build off of that they could get a more expensive car and have less money to work on it.
@@carbondrapes Would you have season rules like they can only use cars from a particular year or company? I actually like this idea a bit better than HiLo.
I’d say to let them be any kind of cars. Set limits like they can spend X amount to buy the cars and Y amount on improvements. That forces them to be smart about what cars they get and what they do to them.
@@dandelany8385 the idea behind the restrictions is multiple seasons with different themes.
For the Miata; put stock cluster back in and run a windows tab in the dash. For the stuttering you could look into the accel enrichment or the tps calibration. Both of those are the first thing I look at when that stuttering problem comes up.
Im sure flyin Miata can lend them a hand with some knowledge too.
@14:29 is Jobes face when James said he liked his sister.
Doing a fixing series where you purely work on fixing them would be a great series as many others suggest.
6:50 "Are you kidding me?!" Seems like a good line to print on car merch hahahaha
6:10 you should cover most of the things you do to cars even if it's boring. Some people might use your videos as education sources and some missing things might affect them.
I feel like on the Zs they did show all those things and weren’t so harped on getting to the track and 70% of the episodes being there. I think we all missed more of the garage time/talk.
TL;TR: it could be interesting but not financially wise. I don’t think they should, the videos would become SO long. They’re already almost 30m now, they would become at least 45 minutes. The time of a video greatly modifies the click rate and retention rate, which are arguably the 2 most important factors in a video’s success which is what they care the most as a media company.
Honestly, I just think they don’t want people to realize how amateur they are so they are now just straight up lying about baffled oil pans and such. It would take 5 seconds to simply mention you installed them in earlier videos. And how is installing race-specific equipment boring? It’s not. These dudes are liars. These dudes are clowns 🤡
Miata: Tip-in / transient throttle can be tough to nail down. check the wideband logs and overlay tps with O2 observed and O2 target. I bet you'll see it going lean. If the MS has channels for proportional and integral output for closed loop O2 control, lay those over the lean area in the log. Probably needs more I but, it's good to confirm with data channels if you have them.
With the low z if you put some plexiglass inserts with some holes with removable plugs to the rear side windows you can create positive pressure in the cabin and keep things like dirt/debris and for the most part tire smoke out of the inside of the car
I think the s14 would be a good money pit project, especially for people who want to get into the RB family engines. And even some personal cars of the team, i think seeing you guys speak with joy about the cars that you're connected to is the best type of content
Zach's S14 is my favourite car of the channel for some reason. Not much spotlight for it but it looks so damn clean!! Make a video series of restoring it back!!
Seeing the simple fixes and going to more complex would be great to watch!
I appreciate this video. Makes me feel less bad about my projects. Thanks Donut for showing some realism.
S14!! Great car, great engine, the personal aspect of it belonging to Zach. So much potential for it to be a clean build, rather than one that’s done on a crunch. And a real money pit
I really hope they do an episode or mini-series on Zach's S14... I don't know why but I really like that car in particular
i just like seeing you guys fix anything because it makes me feel better about some of my "fixes". i've been building a factory five mkiv and there have been quite a few questionable decisions... lol
Low Z's shifter boot: Pampero Aniversario Reserva Exclusiva Rum. Comes in pretty a leather bag. That bag? Makes an EXCELLENT shifter boot. Cut a hole in the base for the knob. Slide it over and cinch in down with the drawstring to the boot base flange. If you're feeling fancy, you can use a leather string and cinch the boot to the shifter itself, too. Funkiest dang shifter boot y'all ever saw.
S14 deserves the love first. Mr Jobe has been working his heart out. Save the kouki!
That your mom joke from Nolan was on point and unexpected, gave me a good laugh to hear that come out of his mouth tho.
Fr tho 😂
Lol I know got em good
Currently restoring a 94 OBS F150 single cab short box. I’ve done an instrument cluster, thermostat, VSS sensor, throttle position sensor, and flushed the entire cooling system. This weekend she’s getting a water pump and fan clutch, as well as a serpentine belt
I love your Hi / Low series, but I wish you also did a "Mid" vehicle that showcased the parts the average builder is likely to go with. Then you guys would do a really good job showing where people spend too much (like on ARB off-road bumpers) but where spending more is definitely worthwhile (like the suspensions). Very good content guys. Sounds like you guys need to hire more mechanics...
You guys have quite a few vehicles. You should do a video on fixing stuff one car at a time. It would also be cool if you guys did a video on what cars the employees have, like Throtl did
Please do a series of you guys fixing all of them, even the little things! :D
I found on ms2 to do a 2nd ve table that is throttle based and some acceration enrichment tricks and most the time I can fix the tip in fueling cruising.
I have a caddllac DTS and been messing with it. It has max speed of 111 mph. My goal is to do my very best to beat the system and double it. Watching your videos inspire me more then ever. It's been a blast taking ideas from your videos.
The S14 is so looked over that it still has that spaghetti on the floor. 😂
A fix series would be awesome explaining what went wrong and what you’d have changed sounds like such a cool video idea
i learned a lot of stuff about the boring parts from people who didnt wanna waste the time removing them from videos. you have the platform to teach so many without trying.
Love the update video. I think it'd be interesting to see an update on the cars of the hosts as well
This is a good video. It's a super realistic showcase of what it means to have and maintain cars; you'll rarely have it be perfect and even then, not for long. Super comforting
Well modded cars yeah. Normal cars eh just do normal maintenance and you're chilling
Would love to see that s14
Sick compilation of everything built since Donut really first showed up. Lot of cool cars dudes
14:04 ROFLMAO q=D Nolan spazzing out "AhW!" killed me 🤣🙃😅😪
Why not the s14? Its a sick project and we haven't seen the car in a really long time
In future hi low seasons I'd love to see more of those things you guys "cut out" I like the extended cuts of the older season sometimes because I love seeing you guys work through some of those issues, that's why I watch the show. Like yeah it's cool to see the outcome of the cars but I also really enjoy the process aswell, and I wish we got to see a bit more of that
I really love the low wrx fitment you guys should pull out the rear fenders a bit to make it capable for track days
Super awesome video guys! Honestly love to see money pit episodes of you fixing them! With that said, there is one thing this video affirms for me when it comes to donut. If there's one thing I don't like about donut its, No love for the American cars. Not saying you guys don't like American cars or that I don't like JDM or Euro cars. Loving seeing all the imports on the channel. Just think it would be cool to see an American project car on Donut!
I’ve been watching for years now and I’d love to see more wrenching content. I love the videos of when you guys are all in the garage together bantering.
I need some more S14 money pit content
I can fix the megasquirts driveability issues. It's your dashpot throttle enrichment settings. May also be the spark advance. At low throttle angle the enrichment should be very low. The low throttle angles are the most critical.
Do a series of fixing them all! Doing them as High vs Low fixes, followed by singular videos on each other car would be awesome.
100% would watch a series of bringing all these guys to fine-tuned, quality projects!
This is the donut media content i thirst for, love being kept in the loop also really enjoy nolan fixing up his old car that he let sit for like 20 years or whatever
Honestly I’d love to see the s14 fix happen. I fell in love with Zach’s s14 when he did the video on tearing the motor down.
Still not having fully welded pickup tubes in the wrx, baffled oil pans not enough. Still you earlier said you didnt get those pans from the start
S14 needs some love and screen time
glad to see my favorite hi/lo vehicles are still in good shape! I'd love to see more overlanding/off-roading videos from you guys!
Yes more off roading!
👻
I feel ya. My Miata needs my new rear bushings put in, so I don't drive it. My AWD RSX needs the slave cylinder bled(no idea how to do it on an Element trans), so I can't drive that one. My Moto4 225 is running lean AF with three different carbs and my Rancher 350 has sticky, dogshit brakes. Winter's almost done; I'm just going to pay someone else to do the rear arm bushings as soon as we're done with salt and ask a friend for help on the RSX...
Jsyk, an easy fix for low Z's shifter boot is a Crown bag/sack. Seen a buddy do to his and it actually came out well and was inexpensive.
With you guys talking about possibly wanting to make some changes to some of the cars like the Tacos makes me think that you should do a HiLow Revisited where you go about fixing/adjusting/replacing and redoing the final challenges. Do a comparison between the updates and the original.
Do a money pit 240 Zach Jobe deserves it
definitely gotta fix up that s14 zach. would love to see it runnin!!
I'd love to see the hi and low z fixed and tuned to as perfect as you can get them and then another video of just track day with the full v8 potential like the first time!
I wanna see low-z neatened up and all the loose ends taken care of! It's my favorite build series car on donut! Such a cool car, and the kind of car most of us would build. Fun per dollar, hard to beat! And I think the nose is cool, it's got that hot rod vibe, but you could fix it if you wanted to.
I really want to see a "Spirng Cleanup" series, which seems quite appropriate right now! You can start with the easiest cars to fix, and slowly move up to cars that need more work
Do a series of going by the meter u guys showed! but from the hardest to fix to the easiest!
I would love to see all the boys of Donut work their way up that meter that you did and just make a series about it.
Awesome episode! It feels so much more relatable when we see both the successes and the failures. We're not all a professional car shop, some of us just love cars!
I would love to see that S14 running, i've been waiting to see that for quite a long time. Also then the Z's i think deserve some kind of priority since they are the ogs.
I feel the pain. My Tacoma needs work. Main thing right now is a bent spindle, not drivable till I fix it.
How did you break a Tacoma?
It does need all the high low cars fixing, then some sort of relay race doing with them. Drift a track, slow hill climb up to the scoobies for a downhill technical race
