  • Hi Clarification of things The reason the Hanged King / SCP-2264-5. is not at showing the massive powerful potential he know for, is that much is because of the Impasse / SCP-6500 since it's was a multiversal ( affecting extra-dimensional realms / pocket dimension / places / multiple alternate universes / timelines such as Alagedda/SCP-2264-B, The forest where names has died/ SCP-4000, SCP-2922-C /Corbenic and others) degradation / entropy process. Since SCP-6500 it's also affected Alagedda which houses the Hanged King and the Ambassador of Alagadda / SCP-2264-4, they are or were, in the Impasse, very drain out of their power due to this. Normally at full state of their power- " "What the fuck was that thing?!" Placeholder was raving as they strode down the stone corridor. "The Ambassador of Alagadda." Okorie was calm. "One of the most powerful sorcerors ever to walk the Earth." "Is it dead?" "It was dead to begin with." The mage looked rueful. "Under normal circumstances, it could have disassembled us at the atomic level without batting an eye." " - From the WARRIOR PATH of SCP-6500.

    @KertaDrake@KertaDrake2 жыл бұрын
    • It was a collaborative effort, and it's clear that the people writing it were more interested in quips and self-inserts doing cool things than in adding to the narrative. Like, what does "Warlock" add to this story? Why were the items discussed at all if we don't see them used? There's more stuff I could say that probably gets into subjective stuff, but this comes off very poorly constructed.

  • For those that enjoyed this, would highly recommend episodes of the podcast Simply Creative People where 3 of the authors go in depth on the background, inspiration and behind-the-secenes of this story. It's episode 10 I think (2 of em do a regular broader SCP podcast, they just eventually did an episode on Vanguard and SCP 6500 specifically recently).

  • Theory time : I believe this might have something to do with an entity of the library. It has been made quite clear that pataphysics is a key component of this entire Novella of anomalous stories. The ways in which stories actually affect reality, which is inherently linked with the library, which itself is linked to the anomalous, proving my point. However, the library itself is akin in concept to the idea of Babylon’s library, which is the concept of a structure which can house all possible configurations of words and stories in all languages possible, therefore having within it all possible stories, wether they be true or false or pure gibberish. All these universes, the various canons, and all these anomalies I believe, are merely the results of these stories, which can have “mistakes”. What happens when a single word or letter is misplaced? The story that it houses becomes anomalous in a way, which could damage the library and the rest of the stories. This is where this entity comes in. There are the writers, which make up all these stories, no matter if gibberish, and then there’s this winnower character, which goes across stories, and if it finds an error in them, they are destroyed, healing the library, but taking away bits of its magic so to speak, creating a sense of security and status quo, normality created from chaos, reality at the price of fantasy. The foundation technically is helping the entity, because they are securing anomalies, containing them and protecting their world. They have allowed the winnower to affect their universe, by helping its work. Instead of having to destroy this universe, it’s possible they helped save it by their goal of containment. This does open the door to a very depressive idea. That the impasse was the way the winnower had of eliminating magic peacefully, and now that the foundation isn’t doing its work, the more beautiful timeline of magic will get destroyed. A plague of logic wanders across the halls of the library, cleaning it from the impure stories, slowly poisoning magic and letting the anomalous wither and die. This would be the greatest enemy towards the entire scp multiverse. The slow tilt into normality. It’s maybe possible that the writers tried to revel and create even more stories so that the winnower wouldn’t destroy their full work, like in that other story of the foundation creating universes to not be destroyed by a cosmic worm. So instead the winnower created the foundation to trick the writers and eventually destroy their works once and for all. And so it becomes *inevitable*
