There's an aversion to taking the license away from people in the US because in lots of places a car is the only way to get around and they could lose their job without a personal vehicle. This is one reason we should have more public transport in the US...a lot of people should not be driving.

The driver’s still bad, they braked super gently and then took forever to put it in reverse, and then reversed veeeeery slowly instead of flooring it. Of course there’s no way to know how wide the landslide was, but still, man… have a LITTLE bit of urgency!

@TonyEnglandUK I think by the time she knew there was danger, it had already passed. I don't think she was unconcerned, just oblivious. I saw it once back in '09, a pedestrian on his phone got laid out in a crosswalk by a van because he didn't even realize the light had turned. I'm pretty sure he was fine, and rehabilitated ahead of his time into paying attention to the world around him
If you witness an accident, while it's good that you stop, to check everyone's okay or offer your dasham footage as evidence, it's *not* good to stop in the middle of a live lane. Park somewhere safe first.
Also some generic advice. Press your brakes. Rolling into another vehicle may also put you at fault. Also pull out of the damn road too. Too many idiots hop out of their vehicle and block traffic after an accident.
To add on that good advice, if u get into a fender bender where the damage is cosmetic, no ones hurt pull all the vehicles off the road. I got stuck in traffic for like 15 minutes where I shouldn't have been stuck all because someone slightly rear ended someone else at a red light. Each vehicle had like a dent and some scratches maybe, but they felt it was necessary to stop in the middle of the road and take pics and call their insurance companies on the spot.

You have an EU accident agreement in which case the police wont be called to the scene but that is only if both parties agree who is at fault, damage is less than 2000 euros and there are no injuries(even then you are recommended to take photos of the accident) , but if you don't police will have to come and if you moved your car it could be harder to prove who is at fault.
That's right, they should park neatly to allow easy access for emergency vehicles.
Its also a good idea to step out, point at the idiot, and laugh, and then get back in your car and driveoff

@@d_mb theres actually truth to that. if you look into something called "deliberate practice" you'll see why thats the case. deliberate practice is basically a couple of important things required to achieve expertise in something and time is one of the least important of them. driving is usually one of the first examples given. in order to improve at something, you can't "just" do it. you need to reach outside of your comfort zone. learn things you didnt know before. practice skills that you cant yet do. for those with many hours driving, they either got too comfortable doing it, and got complacent(ie too much autopilot), or they ran into a new situation that they never went through before. an easy example would be someone who has driven for over 10,000 hours. theyve driven on small town roads, highways, inner city traffic, but then one day, for the first time, they run into a busy roundabout for the first time. all their hours dont matter here because 0 of them were spent on roundabouts. time=/=expertise. thats why all the adults that have driven for decades arent all nascar drivers. they learned enough to get by where they are, then let it go to autopilot from there. its really interesting and if you wanna look more into it, its just a google away!

I was driving through Texas one day and watched a dog just out of the back of a truck going highway speeds. I caught up to the driver and got his attention told him his dog had jumped out. His wife lost her mind. Very irresponsible owners.
Border Collies have a lot of energy. The sign says they are in Utah / the beehive state & it's done there. It's totally wrong to have a pet in the tail gate on the highway. The dog could get hurt or cause an accident if it jumped. My Border Collie rides shotgun inside my truck all the time, muddy or clean.
Instead of catching up with the driver, I would have seen if the dog was okay...and then I would have taken him home. @@pauldavis9387

As someone who's currently taking their driving course, and with how strict and serious the monitors are with teaching us how to drive and how the driving code works, it's astonishing how these drivers ever got their permits and licenses in the first place. Honestly, though I'm still learning how to drive, it's the other drivers around me I feel more nervous about and don't trust.
It's a general rule that new drivers are generally safer drivers than older drivers. When you're not used to driving and just went through classes about what to do you're more likely to follow all the rules everyone should. After you've been driving (or anything really) you're more likely to get complacent, and skip steps you shouldn't. Like properly doing a shoulder check vs just looking in the mirror, you might not have issues dozens of times just using the mirror, but you can still miss something the one time it matters that a shoulder check would have caught.
@@patrickdix772 I absolutely agree, there are so many cases where the one time a step was skipped can either cost ourselves or others damage or worse.
That‘s why I‘m all for a mandatory refresh course after x amount of years. If you can‘t pass it, you‘re losing your license. Looking at the current state of the streets it‘s crazy this hasn‘t happened yet
@@MisterK9739 I know that after three or four wreckless driving incidents (whether or not they result in damage or harm to themselves or someone else), they can lose enough points to have their licences suspended or removed, and be obligated to take another driving course theyd need to pass again before they can drive again legally.
Always remember to wait until they tell you to turn the car on, don't just do it. I was the only one to pass on my driving test because everyone turned the key before being told.

These folks need to live with a mechanic/wrench for 6 yrs like I did. Our Audi Fox was quick, and he taught me defensive driving that saved me for the next 40 years! TY Mike! P.S. the Audi 4000 stick from the 80's was the BEST, most responsive car I ever drove, including a few brand new vehicles...but Mike's education saved my life as I worked as a home care nurse later in life, on some of the most densely driven roadways in New England.

There's a few skilled drivers mixed in... like, at 7:11 that car that overcorrected was in a dangerous, hard to fix situation, and managed to bring their car back under control. That takes skill, and more than a little luck. Trust me on this one; I used to rally race a beat up 81 camaro with a custom 383 stroker 😁

As a young driver with a cdl license, seeing all of the accidents involving semi trucks makes me very nervous about my skills and going out, even tho i passed with a pretty good grade on my test
