I've been seeing some comments lately that indicate the top speed of the DJI Avata 2 might be limited. The speculation is the top speed of the CE version of the drone is lower than the FCC version.

Nice flying man! Bloody love this drone. Done a couple of videos myself. Had to get the RC3 straight away, couldn’t wait 😅
Funktioniert es auch mit einem RC2?

Nice first manual flight, I got out today as well for the first time in ages with my Avata 1 it was great fun.
Great info Andy - thank you! As others have said, a video on FCC unlock (which file you're using etc) and HAM licencing would be really helpful. I've started doing some research and it appears that I'd need a Full UK Amateur Radio License to legitimately use the FCC unlock file. Is that your understanding of the law?
All interesting will you keep the avata 1?
That was so cool! How it has a letter "H" as a overlay on the video showing the home location. It's small litle features like that that make certain brands a step above...
lol this has been a thing for many years
Awesome video! I was wondering about this exact thing and nobody has yet done a video showcasing the actual max speed in manual. Please do a video on how to setup the FCC unlock and in general about the ham licensing. Such a video would be a miracle for all the CE Avata 2 users.
In Europe the speed limit in manual mode is 19 m/s
@@HenkHeeftEenTank is it not limited in us?
@@loganwolverine8105 in USa ou in Us

That close call at 13:07 was awesome! I flinched when I saw tree come into perspective. :)
Hi, is there a acro mode height limit like the original dji fpv did? or can you go up to 120 m in acro? cheers
Nice flying, Andy! Looks great 👌
Hi Andy. Great video! Can you tell me which level of ham radio licence is required to use FCC legally in the U.K. please ?
None.
I am finding when I give the drone full throttle it just rises up fast ? Do I need it in manual mode to be able to tilt the fpc direction up or down ?
Wow I’m absolutely amazed by your great FPV flying ability in this video! Wow! I just bought the DJI FPV controller 3 which I’ll only start flying slowly with after developing proper skills by practicing a lot with flight simulators before hand! I purchased the Avata 2 fly combo which is arriving in a few days! ❤️❤️ I live north of Montreal Quebec Canada where we have FCC so i know in manual mode I’ll be able to fly it super fast! I have the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 for almost 2 years so I’m good in camera drone flying but I know that FPV flying skills is on a much more higher challenging level! I’ll do all the proper steps to help build up my FPV skills! This will be my first FPV flying so I’m aware of the risks and the proper educational process to be able to do it!
Great video! I'm waiting for my controller 3. I'm in FCC mode in the US and did the hamm file! It doesn't seem like drone is going anywhere near 60mph with the motion controller. What are the opinions on this!??
It doesn't do 60mph with the motion controller, only in manual with the FPV controller 3
@@andykirby controller 3 is being delivered Wednesday! But have to be careful with this drone. If you break that frame it's all over. This is probably a drone to have the insurance for
@@andykirbythank you! I was wondering why it didn’t feel anywhere close to 60 😂 I got mine last week (I’m in Canada) and have been enjoying the joy toy controller (this is my first drone and I’ve only ever done a simulator with my radio master boxer) so I’m a bit nervous to use the fpv controller 😅 I’ll give it a shot next weekend tho! See if it does 100kmh in manual mode 😉
I*ncredible video quality! And it sure is snappy- if it is speed restricted.....would love seeing how it rips without the governor/ minus the restrictions...
I've read that the speed limit is 19m/sec in the EU (68.4 km/h), and it's independent of CE/FCC mode. Is that true? So in manual mode the max speed is limited from 97km/h to 68.4 km/h?
in FRANCE low power not only the speed limit , low power for acceleration etc alway in max on the stick .... 😞 hack dont unlock the speed/power limit
Great video and tune! 🎉 also insane Geoengineering of the UK continues.
u do great job! keep on testing..
Hope they get the DJI RC2 (w screen) in the future to work with the avata2. They both use O4 as a link. Goggles work just one more to add.
i got the mini 2 se. i live in north east USA and i dont know any good large fields to play in, that would be like the farms. i would like to try one of these out. on the part 107 test it says on FPVs not allowed to go more than 100mph.
So even though in Manual mode the angle of roll and yaw can still be limited and not go full full acro mode ? Thanks mate
you can limit it or just turn it off for full acro.
doesn't seem to wooble crash like 1 but still gives hints on them 180's
Can you use head tracking in manual mode?
The 4k of the Avata 2 looks very nice!
That was yaw wash out. DJI still don't really know how to pid tune yaw for more authority.
Looks like. The DJI Avata 2 seems not to be build for manual acro either. Sadly DJI pit tune cannot be improved manually and DJI failed to fix it on the Avata 1.
Andy What Is Your Star Sign ? Great Chanel 😊
guys what is CE and FCC? Can somebody tell me. I am kind of new you know.
I had trouble turning on the drone / goggles for a while because I was double pressing too quickly. Press once, let the lights turn on, then press and hold. Definitely feels like they changed that up
Looks awesome! That power loop was close 😆
It was a bit 🤣
Has it got good collision avoidance?
11:53 Nice flying, even nice music. Where can I listen to it other than this video?
How does it work with line if sight , if your wearing goggles flying low fast
if you know proficient drone pilots, it would be nice to see what your avata 2 is capable of in their hands in fpv mode
douche
Could you show us some DIVING VIDEOs as thats what I really want to do a lot with this drone.
are you sure about being in FCC? Can you manually select frequency/channels?
Not allowed in the UK, even with a ham license.
1:20 does the antenna symbol on the front of the controller not telll tell signs of internal antennas?
Yes, point is there's no "external antenna"
Thanks for videos, quite useful. Is it worth skipping Avatar 0.1 for first timer before plunging into full acro fpv/cinewhoop?
I talked to DJI and ask how that Speed Limitation works. It’s controlled by GPS. If the drone recognises that it’s in the EU it’s switched automatically to the slow setting and outside to the fast setting.
Wow! Cars don't even do that!.... yet!
Yes that's correct. It's an EU EASA regulations and rules only thing even noticed in the most underrated publication of all times my little mother says 😂❤🎉
@@andykirbyit's about being EU EASA regulations and rules compliant on C1 class UAVs my little mother says 😂❤️😱
Crazy times!
hack dont work for speed in France 😞
what sim are you using on the SteamDeck?
Uncrashed 👍🏻
Goggles 3 can broadcast over wifi? I see the Avata 2 in the networks list with the goggles 2, but it needs a password I don't have. I tried 12341234 and that did not work. But the Goggles 3 does not show up in the wifi networks list even with broadcast on. Would love to see a demonstration of the Goggles 3 broadcast ability. Maybe I should be asking DJI. That controller is the exact same thing as my DJI FPV 2 controller minus the antenna. They better make the FPV Controller 2 compatible with the Avata 2 with a firmware update as I've heard they might. I'm already annoyed I have to bring 2 pairs of Goggle on my next trip.
So they've finally made something that can keep up with the Phantom2 ?
I hope DJI releases the 04 air unit soon. I need it in my gprc mark 5 now😮
I know right?!
It's nice that you can use FCC mode with just a text file. Because of this I might buy this drone
Doesnt help, speed is gps limited. It is slow as mini 2 in EU.
@lauril9043 yeah I heard from another reviewer :( I'll skip this one
Sadly im in EU and this speed limit is a dealbreaker for me. I was almost driving to dji store to buy avata 2 but just before that i found out that in eu its almost as slow as my old mini 2. 19m/s vs 27m/s for the same price is a joke. If you modded yours to fcc mode, your warrenty+dji care are gone?
It turns out the FCC mod doesn't actually work, i thought it did because the range of this drone is very very good but maybe UK has a different version as we are not in EU. As you see mine does 60mph, I feel sorry for the EU users if that's the case. I'm sure someone will figure out a hack soon, it's crazy...
@@andykirbyyeah you guys had Brexit so you are clear from the EU Regulation Nonsense
Thank God we left the EU and don't have Drone Speed limits lol
Avata 1 is so more fun in manual, Avata 2 sucks in EU, don't buy when you want fly manual for now !!!!
@@danielkuca3201 drone tweak works
what about testing the ce version? so we see if its limited?
I'm starting to think it is actually in CE mode or at least the standard version for UK.., I did the mod and breifly saw the channels change but others are reporting it does nothing... more testing needed.
Am I reading this right? So, at full throttle and 60% charge left, the estimated run time is 2 and a half minutes? That means if you're full throttling this thing non stop, the run time is just over 5 minutes???
I don't know what you know about FPV drone but 5 minutes at full throttle is extremely long! In a lot of handmade kwad you can only count that in seconds 😅
What a great location.
Top speed limiter is for EASA countries only, which is EU and a few more, like Norway, Switzerland etc
yes limited here in France the hack change nothing for the speed limit 😒
Exactly
@@did3d523 Did you actually try it? I am reading from a few sources about UK drone laws and all of them seem to state that the top speed there of a C1 drone, which the Avata 2 is labeled as, is 19m/s (just like in EU). Im only not certain if DJI enforces it in the UK as it does in EU, but I would think so. If so - the proper hack shown in the video should lift the speed restriction in EU countries as well. I havent found it myself yet so cant validate.
@@Joro379 I waiting my order I will receve it tomorow ... but I read some people in France who said that not unlock the low power mode CE only the range is unlock
@@did3d523 From what I read about other drone hacks - it makes the drone think its in USA so should also lift the speed limit. I am trying to get my hands on the hack and we will see.

Andy just out of interest is there anything you don't flog maybe you could put together a video that combines keyboards, e-bikes, radios, drones and anything i may have missed out.
That camera quality is immense mate. Waiting for some backwards compatibility for my other gear before i pick one up, but its great seeing a lot of people having fun with the Avata2 👍
You live in uk so no speed limit...
Max Horizontal Speed (near sea level, no wind) 8 m/s (Normal mode) 16 m/s (Sport mode) 27 m/s (Manual mode)* * No faster than 19 m/s with the Manual mode in the EU regions. This is from the official DJI website.
and because of the speed limitation in EU i will NOT buy the avata 2. sucks so bad, drone is fire but EU sucks

Does the FCC hack work?
Ive done it today with ham file but be ware do not update your dji googles 3 keep it on old firmware. You can update the controller 3 and Avata 2 but leave googles and Ham file will work with 3 channels instead of 1 😊
Are you saying you can't fly manual mode with the joystick they sell it with?
Yep
Great video..... but the sky!!!!
11:49 I love this track andy what’s it’s called ❤I would like to buy it
Want to see what happens when you go to normal mode whilst upside down… does it recover or crash
Yeah will likely just right itself.
It seems that they didn't fix the tumble issue 08:26 that's really sucks
Ham file doesn't work on the UK Avata 2 / Goggles 3 (CE) so you're still testing in CE mode Andy. Unless you've used the Drone Tweaks paid app.
When you're showing video of the HUD on screen...is that exactly the video quality you are seeing through the goggles?
I’m pretty sure it is. I have the DJI FPV and my goggles show 1080p live im pressure sure
03:13 no you cannot ,the protocol should be open. Occusync is not an open protocol is a proprietary to DJI(i am a licensed amateur radio operator as well).
I just got one and im going to do whatever you did to goto 50mph/60mph
Sweet!

can it change to mode 1 ?
one more question: when flying can you change gimbal angle? thanks.
Yes and yes👍🏻
strange thing is called prop wash
If you take into account what the flight time of that thing is, 60mph is not bad.
Yes exactly!
MY DREAM BRO 😔😔
in europe we have this speed limit even with fcc file
Are you sure ?
UK have CE region and this hack work so... ;)
Max speed of ~60mph is only available with the FPV remote controller 3 in Manual mode.
@andykirby I’m in Portugal with the RC3 and fcc file, I have a much better range, even in manual I don’t go above 37mph
@andykirby that really annoying for example after a dive , I don’t have enough power the drone seems very heavy , and almost crash it 2 times , I think I will return it , I don’t think we will be able to mod it like the avata 1 seems more complicated to access esc
So the fcc hack works with avata 2????????
in EU works only for signal, not speed limit :(
What's the max distance???
They report over 10 kilometres (6 miles) but that’s no obstruction. I’ve had mine on the far side of a forest about 2km away with decent video quality!
That tune is a banger!

So today finally arrived my fpv rc 3 and did some testing. For the first battery i turned on the drone, the rc , and only after that the glasses with the ham file( somewhere iv read that is the proper order for the fcc ha k...........the drone was lazy, descending on 50% throttle amd doing only 30kmh against strong wind - > i was thinking shit, i must return this powerless thing.......................but after changing the battery, the miracle happend( i think the fcc hack just kicked in): much much more power and doing 126kmh with backwind and 70kmh against ( cca 97+27 and 97-27, whilst the google says i should have 27kmh winds, so that math makes sense for me). Im in czechia, so definitely CE region

The ham radio license does not exempt you. Just so others don’t think it is ok. A power o/p of my than 25mw is not permissible.
Correct, my mistake. However it turns out the fcc mod does nothing on the Avata 2... see my later video for a deep dive. The CE version of this drone now has superior range as it uses 3 bands. 5.8ghz @ 25mW, 5.1Ghz @ 200mW and 2.4Ghz @ 100mW
@@andykirby i was hoping you had found a loophole Andy!
There's a paid FCC mod from drone tweaks now but to be honest if you put the drone in FCC mode then you'll lose 5.1ghz which is a really quiet band at the moment and with 200mW it's actually enough for going a couple of miles out.
@@andykirby i meant a legal one!

The HAM license doesnt allow a mobile transmitter. The drone counts as a mobile transmitter. You are not 'allowed' to increase the power output of the transmitters.
Is the power output in FCC mode not already up to almost 2W?
