Mountain lions usually stalk their prey and pounce from a hidden position. This one was very bold and unafraid until it was shot at. I suspect it was a new mother and the hunter was too close to her cubs.

I think th fact that it went in to that House Cat Defense Pose means to me that this was not Hunting! It was probably a Mother in defense of her Young, or a Male looking to fight. I'm 35. I grew up watching this stuff on Discovery Channel, there is No Hunt that Consists of Slowly Evading the Purser, all prey items Run Like Hell! I know what you're thinking, so the Lion is thrown off cuz he is walking away instead? The thing is the lion wouldn't have presented itself by Slowly chasing someone, they explode out of Ambush Tactics, This dude would have been ate by the instincts to run and that just makes the Lion Chase. So no, the Lion would have never been seen if this was a Hunt. When it comes to Cats, You Get touched! People Always get Touched when they are hunted. Here this looks like something absolutely different and scarier. If you get hunted hey that's natural. But if you get killed because some lion assumed something about you, or just didn't like you, or hell maybe as an Apex Predator it just wanted to kill? Cats do kill out of no wher for no reason. Maybe he or she has Rabies? This was a unique encounter for sure!

My dad is a retired mail carrier. His route was in the neighborhoods high on the shelf of the Wasatch mountains in utah. There are so many mountain lions that live in that area and once my dad had a mountain lion jump into his mail truck, it got startled and jumped right back out once it saw my dad. (Mail trucks do not have doors on the driver side so it’s free rein for sneaky mountain lions) 😅 it scared the shit out of my dad, and us. I’m glad he’s retired 🤣

Mountain lions usually stalk their prey and pounce from a hidden position. This one was very bold and unafraid until it was shot at. I suspect it was a new mother and the hunter was too close to her cubs.
That or a young inexperienced one. The few rare attacks that we know of are from the young that haven't learned how to hunt yet, they get malnourished and desperate.
I think th fact that it went in to that House Cat Defense Pose means to me that this was not Hunting! It was probably a Mother in defense of her Young, or a Male looking to fight. I'm 35. I grew up watching this stuff on Discovery Channel, there is No Hunt that Consists of Slowly Evading the Purser, all prey items Run Like Hell! @@n003lbexactly. The rifle is for game hunting. The pistol is for self defence for exactly a situation like this. Im not sure the first shot was a miss. But the second shot almost skimmed its fur so i think that one was a miss.

My dad is a retired mail carrier. His route was in the neighborhoods high on the shelf of the Wasatch mountains in utah. There are so many mountain lions that live in that area and once my dad had a mountain lion jump into his mail truck, it got startled and jumped right back out once it saw my dad. (Mail trucks do not have doors on the driver side so it’s free rein for sneaky mountain lions) 😅 it scared the shit out of my dad, and us. I’m glad he’s retired 🤣
