The license fees go to support thir conservation, so the more they are hunted the more there are some they become more wanted and better protected from poachers. Before they would be killed at random by locals but now there are so many thst they have b3come a huge problem for farmers and villages who can't do anything about it. They only hunt large bulls who have already bred many times over. Besides, hunting is natural and beautiful. It isn't painful to the animal at all really and they would die in a far crueler way anyway. We can't allowed them to reach carrying population either, because that would be cruel and cause massive damage and starvation. The whole situation is actually very good all around. On the other hand, rhinoceros are nearly extinct because nobody bothers to protect them. South Africa used to allow them to be managed on private ranches where the population exploded, but ended those 'racist' laws after apartheid ended. Private sport conservation is fundamentally good and moral, but even the government can help sometimes.
stop crying
@screwstatists7324 You do realise the elephant population dropped from around 25 million to 400,000 due to humans? In some countries there are only a few hundred left, even though you could find thousands in 1900. So saying "there are so many, they have become a problem for farmers" is just absurd. And these conservation strategies that you're talking about don't work half the time, you can find plenty of articles on that topic. Corruption and negligence makes these attempts futile. So executing elephants like that is nothing more than a sadistic past-time for rich men.
@@Ruzzky_Bly4tKind of wird how the nations that allow a lot of Elephant hunting have so many more compared to those that do not. I'm from Germany, we have many forests and also much wildlife in those forests, most people believe that this do to conservational efforts, nop , its cos rich influential royalty liked to shoot stuff. And so the forests and the wildlife was preserved for the main reason of rich peoples freetime activity’s. The reasons might be questionable but the results are evident. There are more Fish in a rich fisherman’s pond then in his vegan neighbor’s pond.
I'm an avid hunter and i wholeheartedly understand their are huge over population problems of elephants in some parts of Africa, but would i take down an elephant? No, I don't think I'd get anything out of it.
Why these men are not arresting??
I ran into a video of a guy (whose face was blurred out by the way) with another gentlemen from Africa and they took out an elephant in the video. The comments were turned off so I assume they where illegally killing the animal. Would that be correct gmctech or are they just ashamed to not show their face knowing they where doing something that can be frowned upon?
Ever thought about it not having anything to do with you? You get an experience hunting the largest and most dominant land animal om the planet. You're feeding the locals. Your contributing to anti poaching projects. You're contributing capital to the locals, which in return, result in the better well being of the local wildlife, and preservation thereof. Maybe you don't have to be the one to "get anything out of it." You're a hunter and don't understand the first thing about conservation.
@@JDobrozsi1 False. Comments are turned off by KZhead when videos are restricted. They blur out their faces because activists are complete nutjobs who will do anything to dox a person and their family or even murder a human being over an animal. The animals culled on video are legally put down. and harvested for villages to eat. When animals become a nuisance or are a danger to the herd killing off the baby elephants they must be removed to preserve the herd. These animals are on a preserve. Please get the facts before you type some BS lie. Also, the hunter pays 100s of thousands of dollars sometimes over a million dollars to take the shot on the animal. That money goes back into the preservation of the animals, Why not have someone pay to shoot the animal and make money for saving the rest of the endangered species? One more thing. The money pays for security for the animals so that they can stop poaching and give jobs to the locals who are starving to death. One thing that amazes me is how ignorant you are. Because of the stupid phone you use to type your ridiculous accusations. Kills 1000s of animals every year mining for lithium to produce the batteries they run on. So unless you live in a cave without modern amenities, you're a hypocrite. But they don't count because they are out of sight and out of mind right? So, please, continue crying. We don't care.

I wonder if they would be so keen if the Animals had Guns to fire back with. Killing for food yes, killing for conservation yes but killing for excitement and pleasure, no.
They are not mutually exclusive. A hunter can kill for food, support the only workable and sustainable conservation model in Africa, and have fun along the way. Remove hunting from the equation and the results are all too predictable: poachers move in to decimate the herds and there is no employment or meat for locals. Let it be known that trophy hunting is pretty much the only reason that many of these animals aren't nearly extinct. The huge amount of money that trophy hunting brings in helps to fund the parks, the rangers, and in general all of the conservation of these creatures. And has been mentioned in other comments, the population control is essential to the health of the creatures. In some places where hunting isnt allowed, and where paching isnt a problem, the elephant population has become too dense, causing food shortages for the elephants as well as widespread disease. Hunting is essential to protect these creatures.
You keep telling yourself that. There are huge global organisations who are more than willing to fund protection efforts, and help out local people, but this type of hunting usually is due to a corrupt local gouvernment and about earning a huge amount of easy money.

They do that as to close the distance with the animal while it’s down. Although a Nitro express is a very large caliber, it never really hurts to have a follow up insurance shot/double tap when hunting one of the big five. Especially because those animals in particular are incredibly dangerous and very very hardy and tough. It’s best to hit the animal while it’s down so it doesn’t suffer but it also keeps you from tracking a wounded and dangerous animal through the bush and also stops it from charging should it recover. Lastly, although the bull was very big, the kill shot is still a relatively small target. Again, just insurance.

Unbelievable how it put it down that easy wtffff
Overpopulation can cause these bulls to grow dangerous rather rapidly. Contraception and relocation can only work so far until the elephants' population growth begin to outpace the more benign methods of population control. So as a measure of prevention, you make a list of the more violent younger bulls and the oldest bulls, you then calculate the amount of the population needed to be culled which includes these bulls. Cows that show violent or diseased tendencies are also put on the list, these animals are then marked and tracked to for hunting, the ivory is then handed over to the state as ivory for trophies are illegal here in Southern Africa. The meat is then distributed to the local area, as the whole animal is consumed and not wasted. The money paid to shoot the elephants are put right back into the reserve for elephant and rhino conservation, training of new rangers and anti poaching initiatives. The funds of a single elephant can fund a whole regiment of rangers for a year. This is heard management and nature conservation at its most extreme limit, the green-light for culling is only given as a last resort and the funds received is used for conservation especially against poaching which slaughter indiscriminately with complete disregard for the environment. What this video shows is only the dispatching of an elephant and not the preparation preceding the hunt and the positive effects directly after.

While your argument suggests culling elephants as a last resort for population control and conservation funding, this approach overlooks viable non-lethal methods. Culling disrupts social structures, potentially harming herds, and neglects promising alternatives like immunocontraception or habitat management. Relying on hunting revenues for conservation poses ethical risks and may perpetuate a cycle prioritizing revenue over holistic conservation strategies. Any approach should prioritize non-lethal methods and ethical considerations to preserve elephant populations and their ecosystems
your arguments can be debunked peaty easily. Conservation groups get a lot more money from hunters than they do from eco tourism. Which allows them to better protect animals from poachers, and control which animals get culled. Interesting how Botswana doesn't have a problem with dwindling elephant population, while lets take Kenya for example which banned hunting in 1970's still has 1/3 of the elephant population and a massive poaching problem @@user-po7br1bl3y

Trying to figure out what caliber was used here….I’m guessing 577 or 600 nitro judging by the recoil….leaning more towards 577
That's and Holland & Holland 700 Nitro.
@@bujinin7096 the “controlled” recoil must have been courtesy of the butt ton of adrenaline coursing through the hunter’s veins

What u get from this
meat and employment for the locals...and a reason to keep the elephants around rather than letting poachers eliminate the herds--which is what they've done across Africa where hunting has been banned.

@@garywatson9917 Shame you have no idea what you're talking about but continue to post nonsense. I derive no funds from these hunts...in fact, I pay for the privilege to be there. What has been your contribution to conservation?
@@garywatson9917 from The NY Times: The United States Fish and Wildlife Service last month moved to allow hunters to bring home trophies from elephants killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Safe to say, few conservationists saw it coming. In a 39-page report, the agency cited Zimbabwe’s progress in creating a sound management plan for its 82,000 elephants and evidence that hunting revenue is in fact reinvested into conservation. Well-managed trophy hunting “would not have an adverse effect on the species, but can further efforts to conserve the species in the wild,” the agency concluded.

That is a beautiful bull right there. Shoots it dead.
is it much of a hunt if you fly in on a helicopter, round it up, step off with a high powered rifle, and shoot it? Or is that for sport? Obviously there's sport hunting yes, but where's the hunt in flying in and just shooting it?
Mark De Young, such a brave man standing in front of a graceful, beautiful creature with a gun in your hands. You should be ashamed of yourself.
You wouldn't have the balls to do it, wind your neck in.
He is a brave man. Missing a shot on an elephant results in being trampled to death or gored by its tusks. Also the elephant population was too high in the area this hunt took place in, therefor the controlled and supervised hunting of such elephants is the good and ethical thing to do. Elephants will destroy all of the surrounding vegetation if they are not culled.
Elephants had as much chance as us to evolve and invent guns.
All those big calibers and more elephants died from the 7x57. Lol.

Wow dude you actually think elephant hunting is easy
I understand that sentiment and it is very difficult to convey how difficult it can be to catch up to a mature elephant. In this case, it was many days of tracking 8-10 hours per day to finally reach the bull.
@@chrisdorsey6287 do you track them with helicopters until they get by a nearby road?
Spell correctly and maybe stop hunting. Corral .

I know that these hunts help preserve the species by producing funding in preservation efforts and they pick certain individuals in certain areas that have or could cause problems, but who gets all the meat? Do the hunting guides get the meat and sell it, do they get to keep the meat, or does it go somewhere else entirely?

Elephants are very destructive to the environment. Their natural habitat has disappeared, so it's either manage the population, or allow the destruction, which will negatively impact all species & flora in the area.
