Canonical wise... For Dante... Majin DT in DMC2 is still there and Shin DT in DMC5 can still use Devil Arms. For Vergil... His standard DT still exists back in DMC4 and his Majin DT has yet to be shown. Seeing as both brothers have the same power sets. Of course, for Dante. Outside of Devil Arms that he sells to pay for his electric bills. All of his power ups from DMC1 up to DMC5 is still there. Same goes for Vergil... And akin to Dante, Vergil can craft his own Devil Arms but prefers to stick with his 3 Devil Arms + only Summon Swords, given Doppelganger. Knowing that their Father, Sparda, who created the Yamato and the Rebellion. And knowing Mundus, who created an entire infinite space universe to fight Dante and who created Nightmare to which he added a limit to in order to avoid Nightmare from obliterating all of Hell. On top of Demonic Energy being boosted by Human Blood. Demonic Energy (to which all Demons are Conceptual Manifested Entities) and with all Souls being 5th Dimensional at base... Dante and Vergil have greatly surpassed both Sparda, Mundus, and Argosax. Also because Demonic Energy application is cracked OP, lore wise. This also means that Dante's Styles such as Royal Guard Dreadnought Form in DMC4 still exists. As well as adding in new styles should the brothers desire it. Dante and Vergil still has potential and they could craft their own Devil Arms from their own power without the need of using Demons/Concepts Manifested. If they are smart as to not divide their power into their Devil Arms. Which says a lot about Nero since he's 1/3rd of Sparda's bloodline. Although, given V and given that the Human World was once one with the Demon World before Sparda sealed off the Demon World. Future generations of Sparda's bloodline may end up being weaker than the first or the second gen. Which poses a question... Since Demons are actually Conceptual Entities and all Souls are 5th Dimensional... Are humans a very far off lineage of Demons???... Given the lore of DMC, I propose that it is the case. Especially with regards to DMC4, and that many people with a Devil Trigger have existed before dying in a great battle in DMC2, against a powerful demon during Sparda's time.

Canonically, after Dante Is knocked out by urizen for a month he was laying in human blood which would power him (and is also why his hair grows longer after that mission) and after unlocking sun devil trigger and DSD, Dante destroys stage 3 urizen in his human form.
I don’t think human blood was the defining factor in Dante’s power up to SDT. Cuz Dante wasn’t exactly lying in a pool of blood when V found him after retrieving the Sparda, but rather on top of a statue. And the claim of blood causing his hair to grow longer is irrelevant as hair does naturally grow significantly longer on its own if a month were to pass. I say that the real defining factor for Dante’s power up was from him absorbing his two inherited devil arms, the Rebellion and the Sparda. Cuz after all, ever after Urizen ate the qliphoth fruit, a fruit grown from human blood that supposedly grants you power to become like Mundus, in order to evolve to his final Urizen stage, he still lost single-handedly to Dante’s SDT in the end.
no, also remember Dante is mix of human and demon, demons gaining power from human blood, the human blood that's inside his, Vergil's and Nero's body constantly feeding them more power, also Dante is like 50 in dmc5, his hair is not gonna grow that much in a month. stage 3 urizen losing to Dante (in human form) shows that urizen is weaker than Dante because Dante is both human and demon urizen is just demon. to quote dmc4 Dante "you surrendered your humanity, its that simple." and "humans possess something that demons don't." that thing presumably being emotions and good judgment which urizen also lacks as he's pure demon as shown when he says to Dante during the fight "how are you so powerful? You never lost anything." which is wrong, Dante has lost a lot over the series but shows demons urizen hasn't got Vergil's memories, only his pure strength however Dante has both
Dante having his hair grow longer and coming back stronger before he unlocks SDT was explained in the gallery. Nico mentioned how he was concealed by the presence of the Sparda. And it was also steadily imbuing him with power in that same time. Sure human blood might help a little, but the majority factor in his recovery was the Sparda. And once he's awakened from this state(hence why gallery calls it the Awakened Dante model) and unlocks SDT, that's why it changed just how powerful he was. He was already getting juiced from proximity to the Sparda since he had the capability of wielding it. Anything else beyond direct observations more an inference on the matter.

It was the Qliphoth which mistook Dante for Urizen-Vergil's demon half and the demon king at the time because they are twins and formed a throne which infused him with power the same way the Qliphoth roots around Urizen infused him with power.

Plus the flames coming out of the end of his elbows are speculated that it is the true form of Yamato

The report goes a little more specific and says something like he's gotta fuse it into his arm to start the transformation(probably just the sheath since he still uses Yamato normally). And iirc it says that his arm/elbow spikes result from it bring absorbed, the shape of them I mean.
Not that he *HAS* to, it's just part of the process, that he and Yamato become one. It's *his* weapon and power after all. While DSD is Dante's power and will materialised, Yamato is the Talisman of Vergil's pride and power. DSD is always inside Dante and he summons it out, Yamato is always tight on Vergil's side and always becomes part of him in DT.
The reason why I think Vergil’s SDT can be used so normally compared to Dante, is I think because it fully replaces his normal DT as the one. Vergil already had a much more powerful version of his regular DT so he doesn’t have a reason to keep it around whereas Dante can still enter his normal DT mode.

Vergil's SDT is his DT just hyped up with the quiphoth fruits powers. Its literally the same except wayyyy more powerful

I think Sin Devil Trigger is the true form/power of human-demon hybrids. When Dante transforms, he’s merging with the Devil Sword. Merging man and demon with Rebellion’s power. Vergil only obtained SDT after V and Urizen reunited, literally merging a man with a demon. Thats probably why he doesn’t have a regular DT anymore, the merge in this case was Vergil being reborn so it was permanent. But it also makes sense why Vergil and Dante still need their swords to transform. DSD is merging Dante’s human and demon halves together. Vergil on the other hand is absorbing the Yamato to “cut” through the barrier between his human and demon side, similar to how the Yamato can make portals between the human and demon world.
I definitely agree with this because whenever Dante used Doppleganger in dmc3 and Vergil uses it in DMC5 it’s always their DT or SDT. Which imo is implying that form is their true self. Also in Nico’s reports it refers to SDT’s as their “True Form”. Like what they were always meant to be and the pinnacle of what they can be.

In my opinion (i hope) Dante's SDT was basically born very recently and he cant fully control it properly like Vergil can and because of his newfound power, Dante's SDT has just been awakened and the power scaling is sort of off balance, its like the SDT is another Dante taking over and it doesnt want to use the other weapons he has and only using the Devil Sword Sparda to maintain the form for a good amount of time before turning back to Dante Meanwhile Vergil on the other hand, his SDT was already activated when he got fused with Yamato turning into Urizen and already got a good comprehension of his SDT and can switch in and out of it because he knows his power and thats why he can switch to other weapons he has
Yeah and I think the fact that he fuses with the Yamato plays a big part because him and the sword have been one for a very long time at this point he knows the Yamato like the back of his hand so it may come very naturally to him
And Dante's Devil Sword Dante with his SDT is basically like giving Dante easy controls on his mode

Well it's a little more complicated Dante has always had sin/majin devil trigger it's just he could only access it when near dead his first time Awakening the power was in the DmC 3 manga but because Dante is almost never in danger that's why we usually don't see Plus at that point in time it was pretty much a a berserker form but now thanks to the sword of Sparta it pretty much permanently awaken the power and the power boost allows Dante to control it rather than losing control like it's implied he does and devil May cry 2
He doesn't lose control of it, but rather another Dante is taking over in his SDT mode but Dante can still control it but barely since his SDT is kind of a wild card and unpredictable when using it and that's why when Dante uses his SDT mode it seems to be like someone taking over him for a bit to use the power and releasing back so it doesn't hurt Dante in any way (probably if Dante were to stay in the SDT mode for too long, the SDT could swallow him from the inside, thus losing control over it) Since seeing SDT's moves and attacks it seems to be like a unrestrained monster while Vergil is precise and focused when fighting
That's probably because, despite what it's called, Vergil doesn't actually have an SDT. It's just his powered up DT.

Stabbing himself is infact a gameplay machine. Its a punishment, because if you get triple S style ranking and then transform, dante doesn't stab himself. He can just transform instantly.
this makes me feel a little better about how both brothers got the same powerup but one had to do a whole big ritual while the other got it by stabbing himself. Dante, going through the easy route of fusing the rebellion and Sparda, has little control over this form. while Vergil, for his effort of growing and eating the Qliphoth, has maximum control over it.
I also think it complements their personalities very well to. Dante’s is hard to control and an explosion of power. Vergils is precise and controlled bursts of power.
@@EightUltra it's worth noting that while Dante has a wider variety of power in his SDT form, shooting fireball, shooting homing projectile, and creating a black hole. His power is fully unleashed and there's no holding back. Vergil never really used those same powers, all of his finishers are from his weapons, Judgment Cut End, Hell On Earth, and Deep Stinger are powers from the weapons, not his SDT. We never really saw him fully unleashing his power like Dante.
I think the devs didn't have the time to implement a SDT moveset for Vergil so it basically just replaced his normal DT because it functions very similar to his DT in DMC 4 where it extended his moveset, gave him access to screen clear moves like JCE and heals him. (At a reduced rate) Maybe in DMC 6 if they ever make it they will give Vergil his own SDT moveset or they will keep it this way because otherwise he would play to very similar to Dante.

I feel like this could be backed up with the early vergil dt designs in the concept gallery.
I think they should add a few moves to Vergil's SDT, he should at least be able to fly like Dante, he has wings after all.
Vergil doesn't need a regular DT anymore and it doesn't fit his character to "hold back" when going DT means getting serious. With Doppelganger taking over the DT spot, Concentration Meter already buffing all of Vergils attacks, THREE Super Moves and World Of V being around as a Get-Out-Of-Jail-Card, what porpose would a regalur DT separately from STD even bring to the table? The devs probably realised that and scratched those rehular DT designs. DMC5 Vergil and Dante are the most completed versions of the characters and absolutely at their peaks. The devs would do more good to focus on developing Nero, V's replacement and the girls.
Nah I think SDT + Doppelganger is just Vergil's intended combo that makes him more unique
Not the most in depth video but it covers everything you need to know on a basic level and I feel there isn’t enough of that in the DMC space. The fact I could go on for probably an hour about DT and SDT is a testament to that. But I think it’s important to have something exactly like this is needed because looking up “Sin Devil Trigger Explained” will lead to a lot of lore explanation and it’s a lot to consume at once. Tl;dr I love the size and detail here I think it’s great.
Thank you very much! I’ve watched similar videos to this for other fandoms like Naruto and DragonBall. Where there’s a ton of lore and powers than can get complicated, so a content creator will make a bunch of bite sized videos explaining individual aspects of the series. That doesn’t really exist for DMC so I decided it would but cool to make, though I will be making long form DMC content as well. 🤝

Pretty sure Dante's regular DT doesn't exist anymore lore-/cutscene-wise and is a gameplay only feature since then. This is his final form after all, uniting his entire self under his command.
Responding to an old comment here so you might already know this but if you use regular dt in the fight against urizen 2 he actually comments on how dante is using an inferior form which makes me think dante can still use regular dt
I hope in future we see different versions of sin dt with different weapons.

Great video man keep it up , so as a Dante main I think Dante’s sdt is about freedom (rebellion if you will) he frees his inner demon letting lose and doesn’t confine himself to his usual self (weird as that may sound ) he is no longer a goof who kicks ass (though he still can be ) he shows how serious he can be when time calls for it , thus freeing himself from himself in order to achieve his ultimate power (whereas Vergil is controlled like a disciplined warrior and not a force of nature , it is even hinted at with their abilities Dante’s black holes his sparda finisher ,meteors he is no warrior just a force of nature )
Exactly and I think it’s a good representation that here we have Dante, who can beat all these super powerful demons while not trying, so what happens when he actually tries? He has an explosive amount of demon energy and can easily annihilate anything with minimal difficulty and massive flashy destructive ultimate attacks, Whereas Vergil is reserved and precise going in and out of SDT at the perfect moment and never using all of his power all at once Also thank you so much man 🤝

Something I noticed with Vergil’s fighting style in comparison to Dante. When Vergil uses the normal DT gauge, he summons a clone of himself. Unlike Dante, who transforms into his normal Devil Trigger form. So when Dante uses Sin Devil Trigger, his moveset is completely changes and sticks to the Devil Sword Dante. Vergil transforms into Sin Devil Trigger like he does with a normal DT and his moveset isn’t locked like Dante’s. Vergil can use other weapons in his SDT form. I love how this shows how different the sons of Sparda are.
I think the reason Dante stabs himself while not in SSS rank is because due to his lack of experience and knowledge of the SDT. Later at the end of the game we see him transform on his own - which makes sense. He simply harnessed and tamed the power of SDT. As for Vergil, in dmc4 we can watch his ending. He walks away at the very end of the cutscene with the shadow of his matured devil trigger form, stating “They shall know this Devil’s power.” Vergil was aware of his progress and knew he was on the brink of attaining a stronger DT. The fruit his demon half ate was the thing that finally allowed him to master his SDT, assuming he was channeling his demonic energy as practice before he split himself (after all, he is constantly looking for power. There isn’t really much holding him back from training his demonic energy while he wanders investigating the Fortuna town and remedies of Sparda.) Or, you know. Vergil is just lore accurate and Dante is wacky woohoo.

It’s kinda not explained why his DT changes in literally every game. 💀 in dmc3 and 1 his DT completely changed depending on the weapon he used and it’s never really talked about lol. Only theory I can come up with is maybe it only changes for certain weapons or maybe his DT changes as he gets older

@@EightUltra Some of the details are from the books and not in-game. Especially for DMC2 and DMC3. It's also why Dante sells his Devil Arms & Guns, and never shows up with it in the next game, lore wise... To pay the Bills of his building. Nero is also interesting in how Devil Trigger evolves. V as well if he was a few generations later down the line from Sparda.

The way I see it, Dante needs the DSD in his possession in order to Sin Devil Trigger. He can however, still use his normal DT without the DSD. Dante is also noticeably exhausted after using his SDT, because he has to absorb the swords power and combine it with his DT, which his body is not powerful enough to handle for long. Vergil on the other hand, can't use his normal devil trigger anymore, because his normal DT is now his SDT (and Doppelganger is a completely separate ability.) Vergil / Urizen ate the qliphoth fruit, enhancing his demonic abilities and forming his SDT. Although Nico's reports say Vergil absorbs the Yamato, I don't think he needs to, and his use of his other weapons displays that he likely absorbs it to store it, similar to how his DT in the older games, has a spot specifically for the Yamato built into his DT.
I like this explanation that statement in Nico’s reports always confused me because he clearly still wields the Yamato as he always has and that would explain why his normal DT was replaced.
I like that their SDT's function differently. I've always hated the idea of Dante and Vergil essentially being clones of each other who use all the same forms and weapons. I like that they fight and use their powers differently.
I've notes that Dante's devil trigger looks similar to Beilel from D.M.C.4 and Vergil's devil Trigger looks similar to a Kaiju from pacific rim has anyone else notes that and if so why is that
I think so far based on what I seen and official information that I read that two things that Dante and Vergil did required that is a huge amount of power and their swords
I think Dante's devil powers are destruction and hellfire, while Vergil's are speed and lighting. That's why Dante in his SDT using destructive abilities and hellfire, instead of his base moves, because his SDT abilities are much stronger and Vergill just regularly fighting, but he's faster and stronger.

Okay to explain why Capcom knew what they were doing with Nero having his form DT and not Sin DT is because the form in 4 is a Yamato DT, we even see in 3 Dante and Vergil have a Beowulf DT but obviously Nero's Yamato DT will just be his new & natural-based DT with Yamato at his disposal, wouldnt really look good if it had the Avatar included with his new Devil Bringer (the Wings).
Sin D.T is the brothers true forms. The Sin D.T makes them as strong as their father Sparda, that's why the sword chose Dante and changed its name to Devil Sword Dante because Dante finally surpassed his father.

I love Vergil Moves, but I think that the desing of Dante is a little better, I would dare any designer to get a fusion of both, like, imagine Dante's sin DT, but instead of red power, replace it with dark blue, and incorporate the change-weapons' sistem. Yeah I actually think the devs had to go out of their way in multiple cases to stop Dante and Vergil from being to OP in gameplay and even after all the limits they put on them they’re still overpowered 😭
Actually in Japanese DMC 2 manual and guidebook, Majin form isn't official name and they called it "Shin Majin" which is translate as Shin Devil Trigger. So basically Dante by what already shown(in manga) is already have this form, but SDT from DMC 5 are just upgrade version of DMC 2 since SDT from DMC 2 is based from Rebellion power.

Majin DT in DMC2 also mentions that Dante or Vergil would have to lose their Humanity in order to pull it off. Which is why you could only use this form when you're below critical health. Majin DT still exists in DMC5 (lore wise) but Dante or Vergil would only activate it if all options failed. Assuming, however, if they even need to activate MDT. Since DMC1 Vergil who got controlled by Mundus was being foolish in DMC3 rather than fighting for his life.

Vergil's was Devil Trigger in Nico's Report for vanilla, it specifically says DT and not SDT and just a more evolved DT, they even make it clear Dante has a DT & Sin DT and Nero too has a DT, not a Sin DT. Capcom only called Vergil's DT Sin DT in the Special Edition to please fans but wasnt supposed to be that.
i like to think dante stabs himself with the devil sword dante because he can somewhat focus the power into the transformation, It clearly isnt exactly EASY to transform, or maintain the form, so i could see it being like a power focus to transform. even tho he can do it at anytime but with great effort.
If you dont know what yamato is for some new ones its bascially a katana that can cut through Realilty and space time and can even consume healing factors.
Appropriate that you compare Devil Trigger and Sin Devil Trigger to Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God (I would said Super Saiyan 4), because the entire plot of Urizen wanting to eat from the apple of the Qliphoth reminds me so much of Turles and The Tree of Might.

well, my first dmc was dmc5 SE, and i'm a sucker for characters like vergil so i turned into a vergil main (also i suck like hell with dante; even to this day i'm to stupid at using RG or properly switching his styles mid combat :/)... gameplay wise i prefer Vergils SDT but design wise i think i like Dante's SDT more
You picked a great place to start (you should def play the others except for 2. 3 is considered by most to be just as good as 5 and 1 and 4 are both 8/10 games themselves. I’m pretty solid with Dante, but he has SO MUCH to use I rarely use gunslinger and when I go a long time without playing him I need a lot of practice to get back into the groove. Dmc3 is actually my favorite version of Dante to play because you’re limited to 1 style and 2 weapons. Most people prefer the complete freedom of Dante in 4 and 5 and I can understand why but I’m so much more proficient with him in 3. But yeah ultimately I’m by far the best with Vergil.
For Dante. Sticking to Rebellion + Ivory & Ebony is the same Dante from 1 to 4. But mainly 3 and 4, for consistency. If you're learning how to play Dante.
I would argue that the Qliphoth fruit Urizen ate was many times more potent than the one Mundus ate, as it was formed in the human world in a month, whereas the one Mundus ate was formed int he Demon Realm over a thousand years (iirc), and was likely nowhere near as packed with human blood.

Bias or not, Vergil is designed to encourage using SDT. I think he charges the gauge faster too.
I wonder how other demons could get sin devil triggers like Nero how would he get his or if another half demon half human hybrid would get the sin devil trigger would they have to get it like how Vergil did or would they have to get Dante’s sword and stab themselves with it

@@slaveknightdante6207 I would say it more demonstrates their personalities Dante is all about going wild and crazy unleashing all his power at once. Vergil is precise and uses his SDT in perfectly timed small bursts as he needs to. Also I actually have a power scaling video on them lol 🙏
Points to clarify : -Devil trigger was their true form of both Dante and Vergil ... However once their power both increased their transcended that and unlock their Sin Devil triggers takin the role of their "new" true form - since they are their true form they don't require anything to transform they just do it when ever they please -Gameplay wise the difference is that Dante rather use his as a last resort (which is basically never needed since he is that powerful , he only used it on both urizens to end the fights quickly and stop his brother) , while Vergil always hasn't been stranger of displaying his full power to anyone -also them exiting and entering dt or sdt I'm gameplay has always been a balance mechanic ... In reality they could stay on their devil triggers all them time if they wished , however it will be to inconvenient, this is further reflected on the ending where even after fighting Dante and right after Nero while already exhausted Vergil still transforms into SDT to fly down the qliphot -also I know the comparison of Goku was there to explain the the difference in power .... But Dante and Vergil on their base forms are stronger that dainshinkan and zen-o -we don't know how strong sdt really is , however we know that at least dmc2 Dante devil trigger is a 10x multiplier for his base form which seems low compared to shit like db multipliers on top of multipliers .... However Dante and Vergil at base already are beyond anything in db verse currently , and Vergil and Dante increase in power massively on their base forms ( also fun fact in the gap between Dante first fight with urizen and where V found him he got stronger since he unconsciously was absorbing blood from the qliphot)
Dante is more of a power house for his SDT i wonder in the future dmc games if they still have dante and vergil cannon since nero will most likely be the main from now on, unless we see them in the demon realm, if he would have new styles of fighting for his SDT or if itll stay the same. Vegril using all his abilities and having some extra moves and effects to his attacks makes him cooler but less of a power house than dante in gameplay. Except if u were to spam ult moves over. Hopefully we get a DMC6 and see where it goes from there, im curious to how they will go about it. Overall, Dante and Vergil r basically equal in lore standards and could be more powerful than their father.

Im not sure if this is right or not but i remember reading somewhere that Vergil unlocked his sin devil trigger while their childhood house was being attacked. which sorta explains how Vergil can control his sdt better as he unlocked it years before and has trained with it. it said the way he unlocked it was during a fight with demons on the playground in the front yard.

All right, now that I watched your video... It's good. I expected you would mention DMC2 Dante SDT, but it's not a big deal. That stock "like and subscribe" was a bit cringe, but I'm not a marketing professional to know how to do better, don't listen to me. Regarding the topic... Before I start, please be aware that I am a Dante main and my further analysis is absolutely passive aggressive towards gameplay Vergil provides, regardless of how absolutely right I am. So... When it comes to the concept of SDT, it doesn't matter as much in the cutscene narrative as it does in gameplay narrative. SDT is an extension of brothers, revealing their priorities in combat, and by extension in life. Vergil's SDT allows him to keep all his moves while giving them more speed, power, longer combos and an ability to use multiple super moves even consecutively, while allowing to turn SDT off at any moment. This informes us of Vergil desire for power and control, obviously, but also his wish to dispose of the enemies as efficiently as possible. Vergil's combat at it's core is about absolute domination over enemies, giving them no chance to retaliate, basically toying with them and feeding to Vergil's ego- his motivation gauge. But this gauge also represents this character's... outer character. Vergil is pretentious, to the point that he does not allow the player to have control over him, something he values. Think, whenever you do something cool as Vergil, it's all about his animations, his style, his screencleaners are just mini cutscenes about how strong he is, and through pure damage the rating congratulates you with triple S. Pure Vergil fantasy. Of course, you can switch weapons, cancel aerial moves (cancel stab of world of V into a combo), and properly use Vergil's advanced clone, but it betrays his role, his fantasy that plagued him for so long, the fantasy of "cool and cold and motivated anime swordsman" so many people seem to like him for. It's all misguided, both fans perception and and Vergil's of himself. I hope he gets rid of that motivation gauge, he doesn't need it, Vergil is just an edgy goof. I can't say which Vergil you would prefer to play as, but I know what many people steer towards, what devil may cry is about, what devil may cry is... Dante's SDT is not a separate mode, in which he gets nuts and DMCs all over the screen, no, it's a reward for starting it all. Playing Dante feels like a strange sort of rush. You, the game, Dante, everyone knows you can just use Faust or SDT anytime to end the fight whenever you want. You won't, this is not what you entered this fight for. So you struggle, manage to contain an array of weapons and styles in your hands, create creative solutions on the spot, never the same, always finding new combat opportunities. The enemies seem so slow, they can't catch up, they will never get away, you already tricked them. Every time they attack, you are flooded with possibilities of their humilation, the more stylish- the better. Then you get caught, but even getting hit was part of the show, just another way for you to launch them into an infinite barrage of bullets and blades. Until you get to triple S. You've done it. Now it's time to rock. There's nothing you can't do, your speed is unmatched, your strength allows you to eliminate showstoppers with a snap of fingers, you stop everyone annoying, fire meteors, swing a giant blade, evade anything you want to, drill through hordes on demand! And all this is on top of what you could. So you go into overdrive, where no enemy, no boss in video games history can hope to match you. And you just get faster, faster and stronger. Soon even the style meter becomes a limiter to you- the game you play has no chance to keep up with your style, "smoking" and "sexy" is not enough to truly describe what you are doing as Dante, and the code is barely keeping up with how you are doing it. A hit or even time between combat is not enough to stop you now. There is no limit at that point. Your coolness surpasses anything a super or fatality or any cutscene can show. And yet, that's not all Dante is. Vergil and Dante are the same in that. Finale of DMC5 was basically about that, both of their extremes, their SDTs, needed to be tamed not to finish each other, stopped by someone who is just being himself, so they can be that too. It's poetic that the only fight where power is truly needed is against Dante, and the only opponent to keep up with absolute rock is Vergil. So yeah, this video of yours is all right, but why would you do such short-form content? (Also I hate this site, it deleted my previous version of this comment :(
I agree to an extent, though also disagree on some points. I think the concentration gauge is perfect, one of the best ideas ever conceived for an action character in the way it forces you to play as the character would fight. Vergil is calm cold and calculated. The meter fills by standing still and dodging attacks as well as landing attacks. Both Dante and Vergil’s SDT’s reflect themselves in how they use them which is demonstrated in gameplay. But narratively they have their own reasons as well. Dante’s SDT is an explosion of wild uncontrolled power released and used all at once. Vergils SDT is best used in precise, thought out and controlled bursts saving the final screen clearing attacks for the finisher. All DT transformations are followed by significant character development. In DMC3 it was Dante losing to Vergil, accepting his role as a son of Sparda, his duty to hand his families business and protect the human world. In DMC5 his SDT is the result of surpassing his father and no longer taking his mantle but creating his own. Vergils is a result of all the intersection that V did. Doubting himself, understanding that the path he has walked may not have been the correct one, etc. Nero’s was learning that he had biological family after thinking he was an orphan, family being the overarching theme of the entire series. (Also Dante doesn’t have an SDT in DMC2, the DT in that game is referred to as his Majin form (Demon being a rough translation for Majin but it’s only considered a normal DT) Also I just want an excuse to talk about DMC lol, but seriously, it’s really experimenting and seeing what I want to do. There’s so many forms of content I want to try and so many things I want to do. I refuse to box myself into one content style, or one game, or one genre, I’ve tried that before and I just can’t do that.

When it comes to DMC, yes, I guess motivation gauge is a good mechanic, but most of the time it's just a buff, you don't really work towards achieving lvl3. Overall I think my point is just that I'm so glad that I play Dante and he is so so much cooler and more interesting, wow, it just feels so great. I honestly might have issues with unconditionally hating most "anime" swordsmen with katanas. This issue was extrapolated by me making longsword and gun users in monster hunter my arch enemies.
@@DYNAMIC20002 I main Vergil but I love Dante to lol. Just personally for me Dante has so much to work with that a lot of it gets wasted with me, I tend to stick to Trickster and Swordmaster 90% of the time despite being able to use the other two styles pretty competently I also love the ability to go in and out of SDT constantly. It just goes so hard. Beowulf is also my favorite weapon in the entire series. Dante used to be my favorite for a very long time until I played as Vergil for the first time in DMC4. Also with the concentration gauge I agree you normally don’t have to work for it, as long as you’re playing good that is. I no damage all the bosses on DMD so it’s pretty rare I have to pay much attention to it but starting out if you want those big screen clearers you really gotta lock in. Funny enough I’m usually not a fan of the “katana” anime swordsmen. Always been more of a long sword/great sword guy myself. Vergil is just the exception for me. It also helps that the Yamato cuts through dimensions, that shit is so cool.

I wonder if it’s the case that Vergil is just more used to using his powers and that’s why he doesn’t need to go out of his way to do things like Dante might. Vergil had DT basically since he got attacked when Mundas sent his demons and wiped out his parents.
Also one thing to note is that Dante has way more SDT specific abilities than Vergil does. Vergil just gets extensions on his combos. So I wonder if they’re fundamentally different. It’s like Dante’s is an explosion of all his demonic power using all of it quickly with massively powerful attacks and Vergil uses his in very controlled and precise bursts. Could all just be for gameplay purposes though. I’d imagine narratively they’d want them to be pretty much equal.
i think that was just cutscene whenevr dante transformed on the fly because thats gameplay and when you get quadruple sss you can transform faster and not have the cutscene
I got to state the facts Dante's sin Devil Trigger is more relevant to sparda as in Virgil more close to mundus do remember as in Devil May Cry the first one Virgil was enslaved and Dante had achieved a form that was similar to Sparda's form devil so Dante's sin Devil Trigger is more powerful virgil's form due to potentially that Dante actually absorbed the sparda sword merging two devil essences his and sparda

honestly wish dante's sdt had more depth, it only has a handful of moves. quad S is cool and all but not really worth using in an actual fight unless you're up against a boss.
Yeah against most encounters unless you’re on DMD by the time you get to triple S everyone is almost dead. And exactly when you enter into his SDT he wasn’t last just has a bunch of big ultimate moves. That’s why I’ve always preferred Vergils you can use it a lot more precisely and creatively
I believe it's not a gameplay mechanic. I do believe Dante has to stab himself Lore wise to unlock his SDT and the gameplay helps to explain it. Base dante is not briming with demon energy, which is the requirement to unlock SDT. Stabbing yourself with Devil Sword Dante umbues you demon power to meet that requirement. But dante can gain that power on his own if he keeps fighting enough. Reaching SSS rank means dante fought so much that he's brimming with demon energy, so he's good and warmed up to unleashed SDT on his own without DSD.

I think Vergil is just cooler, I think they refused to give him his solo game because he doesn’t use gun but his projectile in DMC 5 is so retarded it literally shot out of thin air and pin down enemies. DMC 6 needs to be his game is DMC story ends, it should end with Vergil’s solo game. Dante had 3 games, Nero, the annoying brat had 2, Vergil get one as final. This is only fitting.
I like Both SDT of Vergil and Dante. But as a Vergil fan i admit i find Dante's SDT form more badass looking and Dante SDT form is my favorite.
Originally I did like Dante’s form more but Vergil’s really grew on me and now it’s my favorite I just wish the Yamato got a cool new form like DSD did

@@EightUltraU are right though Vergil uses his SDT far more efficiently than Dante does. So Vergil's SDT is better overall plus the super moves Dante has in his SDT doesnt do nearly as much damage as Vergil's does. For example Dante's Judgement move or his Demolition move. To Do the demolition move dante basically sacrifices 40 percent of SDT bar to kill one enemy and his Judgement moves takes an entire bar and does like 1600 damage checked in void mode. Vergil on the other hand does judgement cut end which outdamages Dante's Judgement and vergil can do 4 in one bar. And there is hell on earth to which is basically the most damaging move in the game.

The difference between Dante and Vergil is Dante is a true SDT wheras Vergil is just a hyped up OP Devil Trigger. Vergil's SDT is the exact same as his normal DT although more powerful whereas Dante's compleatly different gameplay and flavor wise.
As much as I loath DMC 2, since 5 is now after 2 story wise technically wouldn’t the first sin devil trigger be in 2? When Dante has 10% health or less when you devil trigger you become ALOT more powerful and you have a new looking form.
Fun fact, Dante most of the times don't like his demon side so he cannot full control his SDT and that is show as Dante don't speak as SDT he just make some brething sounds while Vergil like very much and trained his demon side so Vergil have full control of his SDT that is why he can still talk normally and use his other weapons
