I’m black and the moment I was old enough to, it was white people that would comment on my race or attribute my race to some arbitrary factor. You could do just normal, everyday things or ask to be treated better as an American who happens to be black and that alone will cause people to say it’s “political”, because you’re black. On the flip side, I have a friend who’s white. He dated a girl for eight years. Never knew she held neo-nazi beliefs until just recently when he looked her up on facebook. Apparently, she was always like that and it was never brought it up because race was just never a topic of discussion between them, since they were both white. If you’re white, it’s easier to go through life you can go without thinking about it unless people bring it up to you. Meanwhile, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to escape it if you’re a minority in this country. I’ve been calles the n word by random strangers just for shopping at the grocery store, ffs. It’s only now because race relations have gotten more mainstream that you seem to think it’s the left doing it or something; it has always been around. I’m pro-capitalist and it has nothing to do with cultural marxism, just hateful people being shitty to their fellow Americans.

For everyone responding that they thought it was hilarious: yes, I'm sure you did. This says something about you, but nothing about whether it's crappy to use video of small children to make a political joke without their parents' consent. It is. And no, I wouldn't think it was okay if a politician I liked did it, because one of my big requirements for politicians I like is that they don't do crappy things.
One of the dad's made a comment about how some people have said to him, 'Oh, he's 3... he won't remember this....' The problem that a lot of our society hasn't clued into is that the boys don't need to remember it, because the internet will. Even though the orginal video has been taken down, this video still contains a clip of it, and will most likely remain somewhere in the KZhead catalogue forever. So even though this video is on the side of the families, the boys will grow and may well learn of this video from a random search. Everyday, we post our opinions--- often unfiltered and raw--- on the internet, forgetting that like digital artifacts, they can still be found long after we're gone. This video exists and the boys had no say in it. This does not make the ordeal 'all ok'. And it certainly wasn't ok that it was retweeted and viewed a few thousand times. Be smart and be kind.

This happens on a daily basis with memes and other viral videos. They’re taken without the consent of the child and posted publicly. People repost and edit and do whatever they want with the videos, but no one seems to care... but when Trump gets involved, it becomes some sort of sin against humanity.
As a mother of two biracial children, it is very refreshing to see parents fighting for their children's right to have any friend their children want. Who is laughing? Who thought it was "quite funny"? Not parents who love their children.

Don't assume three year olds don't remember stuff! My kid's memory goes back to fifteen months old! If you think about all the things you do in front of your kid cause you're sure they won't remember...you know this is a horror!
You'll be shocked at what kids can remember. I have a great visual memory and actually freaked my mom out as a kid. I still have memories from when I was two. You are most certaintly right, never assume your toddler wont remember anything.

@@sistakia33 wow, thats crazy! My memory wasnt that good, but my experience was a little similar. Like I would randomly question my parents about things ive seen or people that looked familiar. When I was a toddler I could easily make connections of what belongs to who and where certain items came from. As a kid I would often times I would dream about stuff I did during the day. That may be why I remember alot about my childhood. Its funny because i would be acting completely normal and suddenly one thing would trigger a memory and I would feel like im reliving it again. There are times I would mix up dreams and real events though. So my memory isnt perfect! In fact I dont do well with remembering numbers or vocab definitions, which I find odd. 😆

As I listen to my son recount issues that happened so far in the past that the people would be dead and he'd be angry about something they said or did over twenty something years prior! (Or worse something I did or said and I couldn't remember any of it! I started realizing that his memory was not a blessing! As for me, I just sincerely apologize and hope it's enough....)
