@@asharpbflat7179the Calgary player deflected the puck with his hand, which allowed the puck to stay on the zone, and off his hand it went straight to the other Calgary guy's stick, which technically is a hand pass, even though he did not properly control the puck. And because of that play, the Calgary goal was scored. If the Flames player doesn't hand pass there, the play would be dead on the Neutral Zone for re-entry

it doesn't matter if he has control if he intentionally tries to deflect it or touch it with his hand and then a teammate touches it next it is hand pass. It doesn't matter how little he touched it of if he had possession he intentionally touched the puck and his teammate got it touched it.

@@JamieWarbeck yeah I understand the rule, I just dont think that was the intent when they made the rule. It was to stop someone from grabbing it and tossing it to their teammate. Just reading the rule too literally. Just like "kicking the puck", the kicking motion, if he is in the act of stopping and moves his foot towards the puck, they consider that a kicking motion not the act of stopping. That wasn't the intent of the rule, but the decision changes based on who is in the situation room the day it happens.
Even though we lost tonight we just need 3 points to take over that 2nd wild card spot and i think it's doable that said the boys can't afford to go on a losing streak now.

Toronto games out west are always a lot of fun. Both fan bases were really into it, and unlike in other sports, not trying to kill each other.
Marner could have had a hat-trick himself in this one. Very entertaining however flawed game by both sides.
All these years later Giordano & Brodie playing with the Leafs. They were both good Flames but couldn't get the Flames anywhere in the playoffs (when they made it) and now, as old men, are being depended upon by the Leafs to do what they couldn't do when they were young. But it looks like they had good games in this one.

IF the hand pass is not evident in that sequence, then I have to wonder if the refs were delinquent (one more time) and should have called it AS IT HAPPENED. He starts to scoop it towards himself, and is about to put his glove over it to stop the play, but as he's almost there, Giordano swings around and knocked the puck out with his stick. Watch Jones stick - Giordano actually whacks Jones' stick. You can see Jones' stick suddenly change direction when Giordano hits it. The puck darts over to Mangiapane's feet, and he kicks it towards the net. Giordano caused that puck to end up in the net.
Yes, he has experienced a rapid regression of late. The deflection seems to be more of a case of bad luck. Taking the puck away from his own goalie was more troubling.

This kinda stuff makes the game hard to watch. Need time limits on a lot of this stuff. Same with offside reviews from 44 years ago. If everyone missed it and and a coach didn’t challenge it within 15 seconds the play continues

The Calgary player deflected the puck with his hand, which allowed the puck to stay on the zone, and off his hand it went straight to the other Calgary guy's stick, which technically is a hand pass, even though he did not properly control the puck. And because of that play, the Calgary goal was scored. If the Flames player doesn't hand pass there, the play would be dead on the Neutral Zone for re-entry and if they DID re-entry right away, the whole Flames team would be offside, so not a good goal
