  • We are witnessing in realtime McDavid transforming into a Cup Champion. His defensive play is fantastic. He is playing a true 200ft game. We saw this before with Crosby. Contrary to popular belief of Crosby always playing a 200ft game. He always didn't. When he was the same type of player McDavid was in his prime. Their numbers for their first six years are uncanny. Stat Crosby McDavid GP 412 404 Goals 215. 194 Assists 357 375 +/- +65 +69 Points 572 569 PIM 387 138 EVG 147 151 PPG 65 40 Shot % 15.5 15.3 TOI 8742 8720 PPG 1.41 1.42 Points per 60 3.925 3.915 Around 27 is when Crosby started to change his game. He started to not just rely on his speed. He was always good down low around the net, but around this time he based his whole game on it. Everyone said prime Crosby is when he averaged 1.63ppg for three years during the dead puck era. While technically true by the numbers. I say it is when he mastered the 200ft game with his defensive work and skill. And he averaged 1.33 ppg. He was 30 and just won his first of back to back cups. McDavid is doing the exact same thing right now. He reminds me of Crosby around the same age. Yes his numbers will go down. And they have. I don't think he cares about any more Art Ross trophy's. He wants a cup. If he keeps playing like he is now, a good 200ft game. He's going to get one. I don't see anyone stopping him.

Hyman’s superbly executed “no-goal” may just have kept the belief high that they could do it and Draisaitl’s astonishing back hand (at his position on the ice at the time the Leafs were probably hoping he would shoot) how is he so accurate from those tight angles? But nothing is won in January, so let’s stay level headed and enjoy the ride. Gooooooo Oilers!!

    @craigcrawford6749@craigcrawford67493 ай бұрын
    • Firing Keefe isn't going to fix the roster. The team is noticeable worse than last years team and every major addition made by Treliving has made the team significantly worse defensively. The d core is simply not good enough to deal with any type of forcecheck. The were getting caved in all game. Thats on management. Fire Keefe, fine but I certainly wouldn't trade any assets or picks this year. This team is mediocre and no amount of deals made at the deadline will fix that.

    • @@chrisg1556 Sure the team is bad but they also look like they don't know what to do. Re-watch those goals and it's painful to see what each Leaf was doing. On the second Oilers goal 3 Leafs went after the man on the point. They need to have it drilled into their heads what to do so they don't have to think under pressure. I think coaching is really letting them down. And it's even their top players. Look at what Matthews was doing leading up to the 3rd goal. Maybe he was tired. I don't know.
