They're much stricter and get called more consistently, some people would call it 'soft' but in reality, it's just more rigid in those categories. Take the 5-minute major and game misconduct a Canadian player got in their first game (and loss) vs Czechia, that would never be 5 min in the NHL, much less a game misconduct. Also, I don't know anyone who actually 100% knows the goaltender interference rule in the NHL. It could go either way sometimes, the IIHF has set rules and uses them.

Congrats Canada! Brand new to Hockey just started watching these champs on a holiday to Canada from Australia!! Both teams are impressive and thought heading into this USA may have been too strong based on previous games. US seem to play a fast dominant style whereas Canada seem to be more creative and playful in nature. Not sure if that's reality or just my take! 😀 Canada played some beautiful hockey tonight and very much deserved the win! 🎉
@nathkellyonline Жыл бұрын
USA fast paced play-style is a result of using smaller defensemen than what has been the norm for a long time. On top of my head I believe only 2 of them were over 6'0 (180cm) resulting in more mobile and agile maneuvering around the ice. Its a recent trend these past years to give a chance to smaller defensemen, as long as they have the skill set. As for Canada today we were excellent in making the most of opportunity with their mistakes... and a red hot goalie that saved our ass in 1st period. Welcome to the hockey family! You've picked a great year to start and see what will surely become one of the greatest in Bédard, cheers!

If anyone is curious about the non goal call, read section 69 (nice) of the IIHF rule book. The rule clearly states: “If an attacking Player enters the Goal Crease and, by their actions, impairs the Goalkeeper’s ability to defend their goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed.” It’s pretty clear the American player impeded in the goalie to move freely and he did it in his own actions. Right call by the officials.
@skateordiedev Жыл бұрын
This is what Rule 69.3 states: If an attacking Player initiates 'a relevant contact' with a Goalkeeper, incidental or otherwise, while the Goalkeeper is in their Goal Crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. If an attacking Player establishes a 'significant position' within the Goal Crease, so as to obstruct the Goalkeeper’s vision and impair their ability to defend their goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. For this purpose, a Player 'establishes a significant position within the crease' when, in the Referee’s judgment, their body, or a substantial portion thereof, is within the Goal Crease for more than an instantaneous period of time.

I turned it off when they kept disallowing goals. If goalie interference is different here than it is in the NHL well I guess I don’t know the rule. Neither of those would be called off in the NHL.
@@TheYamahog12 you can't push a pad into the net to score a goal in the NHL either pal.
@@TheYamahog12 IIHF rules are different, that's the whole thing. Congrats Canada! Brand new to Hockey just started watching these champs on a holiday to Canada from Australia!! US seem to play a fast dominant style whereas Canada seem to be more creative and playful in nature. Not sure if that's reality or just my take! 😀 Canada played some beautiful hockey tonight and very much deserved the win! 🎉

Crowd seemed absolutely electric, what an atmosphere and a huge win for Canada!
what i like about both of those teams is that we can compete with good will and when one side wins the other strives to do better. this is one of the best relationships to ever graze the ice. and may it last for 150 years more.
Man this was such a joy to watch Canada beat US
2 - 0 from the start. I was very nervous. But this is was only goals, that been in our gates. Other 6 belong US gates. My congratulation to my team. I'm so proud of you, boys. You are the best. Go Canada, Go!

Hilarious when kids feel the need to taunt the crowd, especially so early in a game. Cooley looks like a clown doing it in the end 😂
Cooley is weak
@@jebrellerysavy reminds me a bit of 2008, US player pumping his jersey at the Canadian bench in the flyby when they went up 3-0. They lost haha these just add a little more sweetness to winning
Canada vs USA always a banger
that red everywhere in the stands just beautiful
In a game where guys get called for interference, hooking and tripping often by an air stream they leave behind from a swinging stick or body part, I don't want to hear about how you're allowed to stand in the crease of a goalie, lean against him, and NOT get called for goalie interference!
THOSE EFFIN NAMELESS VIDEOREFS STOLE THE GAME, REFS ON ICE WERE GOOD
Once the puck came outside the blue ice, with the US kid still in the crease, impeding Milic's movement, by the letter of the IIHF rule book, well, you already know where I'm going with this...
Bro was taunting the crowd up 1-0 with 58 minutes to go.
thats what team usa always does, classless nation in sports
@Ryan Friesen Remember when they eliminated Canada some time ago and they celebrated around the I've with a trashcan with the canadian flag painted on it? Now we eliminate them; and give them a standing ovation after a good performance. Yikes
I laughed when I saw that. Like...did he think they would just HOLD a 1-0 lead?! 🤣 Stupid cocky fucker got what he deserved.

USA had to try play dirty with them goalie interferences, while Canada played clean and won ease.
So proud of Thomas milic, I’ve grown up with him and seeing him get the spotlight he deserves makes me happy
Ya love to see it 🇨🇦
Even if USA got the points for the goals, Canada still would have won which just shows they what they're made of!
And the Czechs - well done! They haven't lost a single game in regular time. A wonderful generation!
What a beauty win boys. Let's take home the gold now.

I love the hustle on Bedard’s goal, just booking it from the circle to the opposite post, and being ready for the pass. Real heads-up play.
I've loved the hustle from him all tournament, at least in the plays that show up in the highlights packages.
He is a beast, whoever win’s the lottery will definitely have a great generational player.
@ 2:04 , watch Bedard circle around heading straight to the net like they planned and executed this perfectly . Ridiculous evil play 🤣👌
AMAZING GAME
This was an epic game. Also, thanks TSN for the amazing coverage, and the highlights as well!
Hello friend, hope you are having a wonderful day.?
Canada vs Czechia will be an exciting matchup for sure! Czech’s have a tough matchup ahead, hard to beat a good team twice in a row.
Czechia's only loss is to Sweden in OT. Canada lost for a reason and it's not luck.

Well that was FUN. USA is a good team. Canada, "pulled up their boot straps" in the second period and got busy. Congrats team Canada. Now it's the mighty Czechs. Keep up the discipline and courage team CANADA. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WIN.
I Love all the Salty Americans here to cry
What a game lets go Canada what a way to secure the win. Lets go boys !!
this game was actually the best so far
The once not-so-mighty USA. No competing with Canada's hockey budget, what a superpower!
Yep. They even paint the crease blue so everyone can see it. The space is three dimensional, for that reason. Simple.
This game demonstrated how the total lack of USA physicality (and its de-emphasis/stopping by USA Hockey) harms American players. We started strong but you could tell that when the hits started coming they simply got totally overwhelmed by Canada’s checking, regardless of their speed and skill.
It was just bad d on all goals
@@karigrandii not it was a lot more then that
USA defence too small in this tournament. Skill and size wins!! Canada did wear them down.
